Crossing the Line
Mann Act manhandlers
In May cardiologist Roger Weiner was arrested at a Mississippi gas station for violating the Mann Act, a century-old law prohibiting the transport of women across state lines for "immoral purposes." Judging from court documents and reports by local journalists, Weiner was arrested for using the Internet to meet women.
FBI agents claim to have received a tip that Weiner was downloading child pornography from a Memphis-based website called sugardaddyforme.com. It turned out there was no child porn. The site is a dating service that matches wealthy, older men with younger women looking for someone to spoil them.
When the child porn tip didn't pan out, agents spent hours posing as prostitutes in the site's chat rooms, attempting to get Weiner to agree to pay them to make an 80-mile trip from Memphis to his home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Weiner refused, at one point stating flatly that there's "a difference between a sugar baby and a hooker, and I'm not interested in a hooker."
One agent posting as "Mary" claimed to be in Memphis and repeatedly offered to drive to see Weiner for a sex-for-pay rendezvous. Weiner again refused. After several attempts, Mary told Weiner she was driving to Mobile, Alabama, anyway, would be passing through Clarksdale, and suggested they get together. Weiner finally agreed. At the last minute, Mary called to say she had no intention of going to Mobile and was actually coming solely to see Weiner, a requirement to trigger the Mann Act. When Weiner drove to the gas station to meet her, he was arrested by five FBI agents.
In August, U.S. District Judge Neal Biggers nearly threw out the charges against Weiner because the government wouldn't turn over cell phone records related to the case. The records showed that Mary was never actually in Memphis; she had been propositioning Weiner from Mississippi and thus never crossed state lines. At a hearing last September, the local blog NMissCommentor. com reported, Biggers questioned the zeal with which federal agents tried to induce Weiner to commit a federal crime, saying, "You've come a long way from the purpose of this statute."
At press time, the government is still planning to try Weiner.

The Mann Act, lol; talk about archane statutees. The sad fact with the status quo is bureaucrats are rewarded for the quantity of results, not the quality. Instead of leaving the guy alone after the FBI learned the site was not about child pornography AND that the defendant was not interested in a pay for sex arrangement why keep pushing the issue. The devil only tempted Jesus 3 times, what gives a government of mortal men authority to temp another mortal more than that or even as much.
Isn't this entrapment? This obviously was not a man who was looking for a prostitute at his own volition, but only succumbed to the urging of the government agent. That's like an undercover drug agent urging, begging and cajoling you into buying a joint, having no evidence that you have ever before purchased a controlled substance, and then arresting you when you cave in and buy one.
It's more like a federal agent sneaking into your bedroom at night, sticking a joint in your mouth, lighting it, and then shooting your dog.
Thanks for your useful info, I think Mann Act manhandlers is a good topic.

My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane. Even some cursory knowledge of Hebrew and doing some mathematics and logic will tell you that you really won't get the full deal by just doing regular skill english reading for those books. In other words, there's more to the books of the Bible than most will ever grasp. I'm not concerned that Mr. Crumb will go to hell or anything crazy like that! It's just that he, like many types of religionists, seems to take it literally, take it straight...the Bible's books were not written by straight laced divinity students in 3 piece suits who white wash religious beliefs as if God made them with clothes on...the Bible's books were written by people with very different mindsets...in order to really get the Books of the Bible, you have to cultivate such a mindset, it's literally a labyrinth, that's no joke

Indian Hair can really give you a very good look but you should be thoroughly aware of its pros and cons. People who have very feeble hair or no hair can go for hair plantations or permanent hair expansions but those who just want a new look or long hair can use the temporary methods. http://ibeautyhair.com
