Get Ready For The Great Union-Dem Slugfest Over Health Care Reform
Here we go:
Unions want Reid to include a government-run insurance program in the merged bill and remove a tax on high-priced insurance policies. Gerald McEntee, head of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), estimates half of its 1.6 million members would be affected by the tax.
McEntee said union workers have often chosen to accept lower wages in exchange for better and more costly health insurance. He said union members, who frequently organize get-out-the-vote efforts for Democrats, won't be afraid to remind politicians of that in next year's election.
"We worked for all these people. We worked for Obama," he said. "What do we get for it? We not only don't get anything for it, we get a slap in the face."
McEntee favors the House health care bill, which includes an income tax surcharge on high-income workers and a government insurance plan.
Many of the ideas favored by unions are opposed by moderate Democrats as well as Republicans and would make it difficult to attract the 60 votes needed in the Senate to end filibusters. Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., for instance, has said he will not support government-run insurance called for in other versions of the bill.
Whole article here. And so easy equations between labor and management, Dems and Reps, rich and poor, right and left, you name it, continue to break down in the reality of, well, reality.
To the extent that this sort of friction begins a conversation that might actually end is something like actual health care reform (by which I mean a more market-driven, individual-centered outcome), it's all to the good. To the extent that it simply leads to an absolute capitulation to all demands by all parties and bigger and bigger government involvement and spending, well, it's not so good.

If this is the case:
"union workers have often chosen to accept lower wages in exchange for better and more costly health insurance"
They jolly well should pay taxes on the better benefits in lieu of higher wages.
What a fucking whiner; Obama already launched a completely unnecessary trade war with China for them. He fucked up the capital markets by intervening in the order of precedence by which creditors get at the assets of bankrupt firms as a favor to them.
Obama has been pouring sugar in the gas-tank f the economy while anally raping its grandmother - all for them - and they day he does nothing for them?
What a bunch of greedy, grasping ingrates. Oh wait, it's an old-line U.S. union, they're just being their usual lovable selves.

I love the smell of implied extortion in the morning.
I love the smell of implied extortion in the morning.
Fixed. For great accuracy!
It is absolutely astounding how people don't see how this is immoral and destroys our country.
Why does Xeones hate The Working People???
It's cute that you believe that union workers actually work.
"so surly and lazy..."
And the CBO estimate that this bill will reduce the deficit will still be used in its defense, even when the taxes and Medicare cuts that estimate was based on are removed.
McEntee favors the House health care bill, which includes an income tax surcharge on high-income workers and a government insurance plan.
That's nice. I favor a bill which includes the right of me and the other male Hit and Run readers to enter the houses of people with exceptionally hot wives and share in a little of that sweet, sweet honey. There is, in principal, no difference between that scenario, and being able to go into houses of the well off and taking a little more of their money to buy the stuff we want.
This is one of my favorite themes: if we have a moral obligation to share everything (like we supposedly do with our income), I say, let's not stop at income. Angelina Jolie. I'm ready when you are, baby.
Forgive me, Mr. Draco, but that is not a fair analogy. In the 20th century, the western world stopped viewing women as property of men.
I agree with your point however. Now if you'll excuse me, I have much work to do.
Angelina Jolie? I could throw a crescent wrench in a random direction and hit a hotter woman than her. Indeed I have, but it doesn't seem to help.
That's a good one. I'll have to remember it for the next time I'm doing standup at the comedy club?
Seriously, absent some sort of massive plague destroying the political class, this will never happen. It's much too easy for them to pay off their cronies with other people's money. Of course the Republicans are no better (despite their rhetoric). It's like the old religious joke: if the world's going to hell we'll just get their three years later...

And to the extent it causes the whole "reform" effort to implode for another n years, it's all good.
The most ironic funniest thing is that Obama slammed McCain in one of the debates for having a plan that taxed health care benefits. (I think he went after Hillary too, for the same thing)
Looks like something is leaking out of the memory hole. Better get the plumbers in there.

Cripple fight!

I think this reveals that unionist see political activity as basically a business activity. They engage in politics primarily for their immediate individual economic gain. They see an explicit quid pro quo between themselves and the politicians that requires politicians to rig the economy for the gain of union members.
Unions are nothing but a privileged group of people using the coercive power of the state to extract above market incomes from the rest of us.
Well sadly that is what happens when government has so much power. It's inevitable people will help those who are in a position to help them. At least they are being honest--too bad more people don't grasp the level of corruption.
Most adults don't believe in Santa Claus or the tooth fairy or the Easter Bunny, and most people surely don't believe that more health coverage can be provided to more people for less money. They just want to get more for themselves without seeing their own bills increase--make someone else pay for it all. Fuck them and the horses they rode in on.
AFSCME PSA
What do we get for it? We not only don't get anything for it, we get a slap in the face.
So you're stupid suckers that whored yourselves and you want sympathy for your own foolishness? Hahahahaha! Suck it up and learn from your mistakes. Idiots.
Fuck you, Gerald McEntee. You should get a baseball bat in the face.
And that is being kind.

Yeah. Reality does that from time to time, dumbass.
If you believed Obama's campaign promises of -
you are too fucking stupid to be walking around without a keeper.
Hey, I knew a guy who worked for a steel mill while he was in college. He said they poured two heats of steel every day.
Of course, the plant was set up for five heats a day, but if you enjoyed not being hospitalized, it was better not to mention that.
Many years ago, my grandfather worked for a short while for a factory that produced shopping carts. It was union, of course. His department or whatever had a quota of, like, 30 carts a day or something. With everyone working, it took maybe an hour or two to meet their quota, and they would spend the rest of their day sitting around doing nothing.
McEntee said union workers have often chosen to accept lower wages in exchange for better and more costly health insurance.
You LIE!

I thought BDSM was yesterdays topic.

WE WANT OUR PONY!!
