How to conceive, assemble, and publish a magazine in 31.5 hours. From the editor/publisher, Derek Powazek:

I share this story not to brag about how clever I am, and my mom assures me that I am, but to show how everyone can make real, live printed magazines, too. The content is out there, the people are willing, and the tools have never been easier.

Has anyone else noticed the tremendous change in comment participants since the elections. Way more right leaning that before. And not very funny at all.

    1. Cabeza de Vaca   16 years ago

Yeah, I have also noticed that. All good things come to a end.

      1. Art-P.O.G.   16 years ago

I understand joe left. But where are MNG and ChicagoTom? I do see humor, but you're right, there is a certain bitterness 'round these parts. I blame the high unemployment rate.

And next week, we learn how to make a crystal radio using an oatmeal canister!

  3. Zeeshan   16 years ago

    Very nice idea. Thanx

Epi, wherever u is, I was having the same problem as you, but I is using IE at wurk.

    (practicing my magazine spelling)

  8. 24AheadDotCom   16 years ago

That's so cool! Say, I didn't know that MAGCLOUDHASTEMPLATES! Say, everyone, did you know that MAGCLOUDHASTEMPLATES? I'm going to have to USEMAGCLOUDNOW!

MAGCLOUD: for people who absolutely failed at CafePress and want to try their hand at another medium.

P.S. In case anyone replies to this, their responses will almost assuredly be ad homs, thereby conceding my points and showing the childish, anti-intellectual nature of libertarians. Dozens of comments here have shown that the phrase "fascist libertarian" isn't an oxymoron.

    1. Andrew Lynch   16 years ago

An ad hominem response assumes that anyone understands what you're talking about.

So Khan, are you from the side of the O'Clast family that served the crown loyally during the Indian occupation? I think I met your irish cousin Conn(er) when touring the Sam Adams brewery in Boston once; over a couple of brews, he regaled me with the story of how Sgt. Major O'Clast "went native in the Indian bush," as it were, and sired a number of kids with local given names. I just wondered if you and he might be distantly related.

Oh. I just picked up on the spelling of KAHN. No matter. On the way back from his posting in India, Sgt. Major O'Clast stopped over in Vienna and, being who he was, soon found himself engaged in a tryst with a young Jewish debutante, Sophie Kahn, I think was the name. Perhaps you are related to that branch of the Sgt. Major's extended family.

    1. I, Kahn O'Clast   16 years ago

      J.A.Merritt,

Alas I am Irish on one side Cornish & Scottish on the other. As for the spelling of Kahn? As Istanbul is nobody's business but the Turks so's this spelling mine.

As for the Irish side being Loyalists? Not a chance. In fact my mother was forbidden from marrying my father - protestant "English" so-and-so - so they fled on her 18th. Very romantic!

Lonewacko must have been molested by MagCloud when he was a child or something.

    1. MagCloud   16 years ago

      Lonewacko was not unresponsive.

  11. Andrew Lynch   16 years ago

Mag Cloud is a cool concept and Powazek has produced some earnest, thoughtful, and beautifully designed publications -- his Geek issue of Fray (issue #2) is a gem, including its tribute to the Hulk in the centerfold. Thought I'd actually contribute to the subject of the post. Anybody else?

  12. Daveyboy   16 years ago

    Andrew,

    I shall.

What a very interesting site. I had a browse around and found an amazing mag in the teen category. It seems a (teen?) named Christine has been publishing a magazine for months. And she loves elephants. Did I say loves? I meant adores.

    It's actually quite sweet.
