You are correct. Beck is an entertainer and a blowhard who's in it for the money.

While a libertarian could find the occasional thing that Obama would be better on (though he's disappointed in most, other than tiny steps on drugs maybe), it's difficult to see what someone with Beck's professed views would prefer about Obama. Perhaps a sophisticated argument that McCain would be more likely to lead to an immigration compromise?

I think there is one issue where Obama as president is better than McCain. Under Obama there is a much higher chance that the cap-n-trade fails. McCain would have liked to prove his enviro credentials and pushed for some cap-n-trade and that would have encouraged some Congress Republicans to support it. Now no Republicans in Congress support it.

Stealth populists are more likely to get onerous legislation passed because some people support their other positions. W. was able to get medicare and spending bills passed because conservatives wanted to win the wars. This trade off hasn't worked out too well for us. Socialists don't have enough support to get their pie in the sky dream bills passed.

What James Ard said, plus, it would've been typical Red Team/Blue Team nonsense.

McCain is far to the left of most of his party, yet they would've gone along with whatever he wanted, since he's "their guy." And he would've been so willing to compromise on basically every issue that he could've easily brought along enough Dems to make up the difference. The result: lots and lots of horrifying bipartisanship legislation being made into law, including some health care monstrosity and more irresponsible economic meddling. I'm sure a lot of these protesters wouldn't be bothering either, sadly.
