A Scary Home Companion
Our indefatigable friends at The Daily Beast have compiled a list of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's greatest hits, outtakes, and b-sides. It is tough to top the bizarre story of being "falsely imprisoned" by a gang of lesbians (What's your alibi, Wendy O. Williams?), but the following is pretty crazy too—and it comes with a mesmerizing video clip. So behold the Maxine Waters of the right on how God is always bossing her around, gently suggesting that she submit to her creepy husband and pressuring her into bringing a whole new level of stupidity (the Hoot-Stewart Smalley Act!) to the House of Representatives:
Michele Bachmann has friends in high places. Pastor Mac Hammond of the Living World Christian Center, a mega-church in suburban Minneapolis, twice risked his church's nonprofit status for Bachmann's campaigns. When he offered her his pulpit during her first run for the House in 2006, she took the opportunity to talk about an even more powerful friend who had endorsed her candidacies: the Lord in Heaven. After God chose her husband for her and then told her she should "submit" to him (he, in turn, told her to study tax law), she says God "called me to run for the Minnesota Senate… God then called me to run for the United States Congress. And I thought, 'What in the world would that be for?' And my husband said, 'You need to do this,' and I wasn't so sure. And we took three days, and we fasted and we prayed, and we said, 'Lord, is this what you want? Is this your will?' And long about the afternoon of day two, he made that calling sure."

You dumbasses just keep making fun of one of the most libertarian members of Congress, while supporting and covering for that creepy, racist conservative from Texas who ran for President. Then you wonder why you're not taken seriously.
Wendy O. Williams has a great alibi.
I don't see where Michele gets that "falsely imprisoned" jive. Rosie's hammerlock was entirely legal and it only lasted for like five minutes.
JCL,
That she is moderately libertarian doesn't change the fact that she is also a whack-a-loon.
Hrrm, you and I must have been reading a different portion of reason during the election. In fact there are some die hard Paulistas that are still ranting about this magazine NOT supporting him.
DOGPILE!!!
I'm still waiting for the obscure congressperson who the MSM will latch onto to blame for all of Obama's problems...
Michele Bachman's not it.
A 2012 VP candidate for sure.
I'd rather have someone in office that lives their life according to the Bible than someone who believes in Frank Marshall, Che and Marx.
I.e., she's dead, Jim.
But she'll be immortal through Reform School Girls [NSFW]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8cXJB9Mqzc
I'll take crazy over progressive any day.
Javert - thanks for the false dichotomy
"Our indefatigable friends at The Daily Beast have complied a list"
Good for them! I have a heck of a time trying to get my lists to comply.
I got to see Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics at the Whisky A Go Go abck in the '70s. The band sucked* but the crowd provided more than enough entertainment to make paying the cover worth every penny.
* Although I politely asked, Wendy wouldn't.
Daaaaaaamn! Ol' Michelle Bachmann could turn your's truly, the #1 libertarian issue, straight.
Praise Jesus!

God, as portrayed in the Bible, is a much greater villain than Marx and even Che.
You aint lyin, that is freaking scary dude!

Good job by Reason! Excellent! With a couple more posts like this, those DC cocktail party invitations are bound to pour in!
Meanwhile, from back in March here's an example of Josh Marshall misleading about Michelle Bachmann.
"I'd rather have someone in office that lives their life according to the Bible than someone who believes in Frank Marshall, Che and Marx."
Yeah, all the crazy ass parts of the Bible.

Meh, it was between drinking cocktails or sitting on the Texas/Mexico border trying to stop the Mexicans from takin er jerbs.
As a Christian I have to say that whenever someone brags that God called them to a task, they're lying. One does not brag about being called.

Fixed.

This is why Libertarians will never be elected. Because they're all a bunch of wackoloons that no one would ever consider voting for. Major party candidates like Michele Bachmann are politically savvy and know how not to let the crazy out when speaking in public. If only the LP could find just one such 'feet on the ground' spokesman!
Well, in 1980 we had Ed Clark.
I wonder what happened to him and the people around him. 🙂
To credit Ms. Bachmann as remotely libertarian is quite erroneous. She is a an ultra-conservative ditz. She's pro-war, religious fundamentalist, and anti-government spending. Libertarian on only 1 out of 3 fronts. She's been a frequent guest on the Jason Lewis show (of which I'm somewhat of a fan) and after listening to her speak, I really don't think she even remotely understands what she's talking about. And while she does get a few issues right, it's in much the same way that a blind squirrel will occasionally find a nut.
anti-government spending. Libertarian on only 1 out of 3 fronts.
And should her party ever regain power you can bet this one goes out the window.
What libertarian would call for an investigation into Congress to see which members are pro- or anti-American?
the innominate one
I'd say thank you if it was.It was an opinion.
Alberta Libertarian
Please don't speak for me.You take whatever part of the Bible you want or not, I'll take what I want. That's freedom, isn't it?
And should her party ever regain power you can bet this one goes out the window.
It already went out the window for the Republicans, from 2001 to 2007.
thanks
