The Queen of England, Isaac Newton, Milton Friedman, and Me
We now all have this in common: being attacked by humorless followers of Lyndon Larouche. In this case, a two-page attack from a "LaRouche Youth Movement" man in Executive Intelligence Report.
It starts off being about the Congress for Cultural Freedom, then shifts to the Ayn Rand Institute, then to Paul Kurtz and his Center for Inquiry, by a long, confused, and confusing chain of association and utterly unsuspicious "links" ends up with a much longer-than-warranted attack on an absurdist theatrical troupe I belong to, the Art of Bleeding.
In the process, the LaRoucheites take an utterly fantasized comedic background for the organization at face value:
What the hell is this, you ask? This thing—described as "An experiment in emergency education" to "teach first aid and safety to the unconscious mind"—was founded by "the radical psychologist and artist Abram S. Lugner," whose "unique approach to human psychology bridged various disciplines and pursuits including western mysticism, avantgarde art, and social critique," reads the Lugner literature…. Dr. Lugner passed away in 1989, leaving the fulfillment of his dream of melding art and emergency education to his wife, Emma, and a small inner circle of colleagues who rarely leave their isolated ranch in the desert near Joshua Tree, California, leaving it to groups like Kurtz's CFI to promote their theater, and finance a new generation of Lugner's followers.
Yes, this clip is from a late 2006 issue of EIR; I confess I'm not up-to-the-minute on LaRouche and his crew's latest, and it just came to my attention today. And no, Dr. Lugner doesn't really exist. But don't tell Lyndon. Interestingly, I have my own completely spurious "links" to the LaRouche movement, having roomed in college for a semester with the son of one of LaRouche's former top lieutenants. And I've attended a Bohemian Grove meeting, though not at the Grove itself. My connections with the Bilderburgers, I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to discuss. Make of it all what you will!

Who knew that a bunch of people who can barely stand each other were conspiring to enslave us?
Are you involved in the Queen's drug organization? Are you a mule or an enforcer or what?
God invented LaRouchers so that the Troofers could have people to look down on.
p.s. The AoB is designed to familiarize children with with emergencies... by using scantily clad nurse models?
I'm pretty sure Brian Doherty is within three degrees of contact with every human being on Earth just from his interviews and research for Radicals for Capitalism. We libertarians have a habit of turning up in odd places.
/excellent book, btw
Brian,
Just admit that you are a Mossad agent & it was your idea to blow up the World Trade Center.
"Lugner" means "liar" in German. An obvious tipoff to some of us.
Congratulations, Brian!
Unfortunately, after a quick review, I was unable to decipher exactly what Larouche was opposed to. However, I did enjoy your link to the "Art of Bleeding" site.
This may be a digression, but I'm always amused by the sheer ferocity that the avant garde inspires in cultural critics. It's entertaining to see that so long after its development, there are still people consumed with the modern art battle.
The degree to which a critics attack anything that they determine to be modern art, is usually a great barometer for their open mindedness, and overall dedication to faulty reasoning.
In short, they're rather easy subjects to debate with. They'll even make you smile.
The LaRouchites are complete tards. I remember one trying to give me a magazine on the street and telling me how it was essential that we needed to build a land bridge from Alaska to Russia.
The real kicker is that this bastard took public money for his campaigns. This fucker has spent my tax dollars on his lunacy. So I hate him and his minions with a passion.
Everyone knows that Jews like me and the Queen of England are major marketers in the drug trade.
Be that as it may, I still fondly remember Lyndon Larouche making a political speech for President while picking his nose. That is art that is several levels above ordinary dada.
"There's no need to fear. Underzog is here!"
In this tissue of lies, Doherty tries to whitewash the serious crimes he's been charged with by Dr. LaRouche's investigator. You can't hide, Mr. Doherty! (Or is it Doherstein? And is your real first name Dennis?) The American people won't stand still for your slanders and falsehoods about Prof. LaRouche, a scientist and physical economist.
My advice, Mr Doherty, is don't join any groups. For instance, I belong to no political party. I found that if you don't join anything, you don't carry any of their baggage, even if such baggage doesn't exist.
Give it up Doherty! We know all about your Bohemian Grove shenanigans - sodomizing Newt Gingrich while wearing an owl mask, rubbing sunscreen on Kissinger's thighs, it's all over the internets!
Just don't let THEM immanentize the eschaton!
Brian Doherty, you have arrived! And I have only been here a couple of weeks.
COOP! When will you come to D.C., for "fun"?
Matt,
Have I seen you and your wife at Crucible?
Brian,
If you are ever sober enough to take your own mind seriously, ask any one you like, your choice, from China, about the role of the British Oligarchy in the Opium Wars of the 19th century. And PLEASE enlighten us as to your findings. We await your wisdom on the role of the British in the Opium Wars!!!! Don't LET US DOWN AND DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT TO AVOID FACING THE REALITY..... If you try that, you will have exposed yourself as being a fraud.... Stick to the subject.... The British and the OPIUM WARS AGAINST CHINA!
I was just about to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.
Now I must add that I have no idea what Gerald is talking about, either.
Is this one of those awkward moments when I should feel left out, or should I feel grateful?
a small inner circle of colleagues who rarely leave their isolated ranch in the desert near Joshua Tree, California,
Absolute poppycock. Doherty went to Burning Man that one time.
Gerald, stop beating around the bush. Doherty is a well known OPPONENT OF THE VERDI TUNING! In 1989 he was ARRESTED BY CARABINERI while demonstrating for 440HZ modulation outside of LaScala. COME CLEAN, "Doherty"!
Is this one of those awkward moments when I should feel left out, or should I feel grateful?
Grateful. Very, very grateful. To understand what LaRouche is talking about is to know madness.
Why even bother wasting bandwith on that crazypants cult? Unless it's to answer this very important question: who would win in a fight, Lyndon or L. Ron?
South Park needs it own thread.
It is on the economy and kyle plays the role of jesus (kind of).
who would win in a fight, Lyndon or L. Ron?
What kind of odds would you give me on Lew?
H&R wrote the LaRouche obit about a year ago...now this. Furthermore, a colleague at work shows up with his EIR and reads it conspicuously.
Rust never sleeps.
They appear to be lacking an editor as well. The article says "free copies of Ayn Rand's 1,200-page book [actually 1056] Atlas Shrugged, [were] being handed out free of charge." Imagine that: free copies were being handed out free of charge. Can you charge for free copies?
I tried to read the damn thing but it seems to go nowhere. Just a lot of mixing of alleged connections but saying nothing. It was like the worst of the Birchers, the Truthers, Alex Jones and the Rondroids all mixed into one insane batch.
You now, this might just disprove Thomas Szasz and libertarian ideas about non-compulsion. Someone like this clearly needs some sort of "help"... 😉
As soon as I woke I had to check this thread again. It is drawing me to it like a live-televised police chase.
My roommate in college stopped to chat with one of the LaRouchies handing out literature like this the year he was due to graduate. Within 3 days he was off on one of their weekend retreats, and when he came back he started spending 16 hour days at their local HQ. About a week later he announced he was dropping out of school. I still see him at the train station sometimes, handing out pamphlets with titles like: "THE DAY THE GOVERNMENT TRIED TO KILL ME!" and begging for 'donations'. Its kind of sad, but my roommate was kind of a asshat, so its still funny.
The Queen of England, Isaac Newton, Milton Friedman, and Me
Who are four people who have never been in my kitchen?
Just don't let THEM immanentize the eschaton!
There's still a chance of that, but there is no way of keeping them from triggering the tardpocalypse.
...humorless followers of Lyndon Larouche.
Humorless themselves, but a bottomless well of mirth for the rest of us...
Is this one of those awkward moments when I should feel left out, or should I feel grateful?
Meh, either way works. The seemingly unintelligible posts were quite good parodies of LaRouche-speak, that is, indistinguishable from the real thing.
Brandybuck said everything you need to know, and won the thread:
God invented LaRouchers so that the Troofers could have people to look down on.
I've had a few semi-encounters with LaRouchettes, including a friend of mine being put on one of their email lists and being spammed by their lunacy. I especially love the nonsense about George Soros, Drug Inc., and the fight for legalization being about somehow strengthening the (illegal?) drug trade.
I feel that libertarians try very hard to actually make sense. We take facts, look at them, and try and draw out their logical conclusion. Why can't anyone else do this?
In their own way, the LaRouchers think they are doing that. The problem is that they have a very odd notion of what "facts" can be input and what logical conclusions can be reached from them. There are days when I look at the organized laundering of money to political cronies (like the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) and the guvmint's attempt to pick the pockets of those who make the wealth and the LR crap doesn't seem so unreasonable, at least not so much weirder than reality. But then I realize the problem with big conspiracies is that I'd have to suspend disbelief and conclude that the government is somehow less incompetent at running conspiracies than at anything else it does.
Greetings fellow Illuminati
All Hail Discordia!
They could be onto us I suggest we precipitate a limited nuclear conflict in south asia to act as a distraction
23 skidoo...
Kick out the JAMS!
'The Queen of England, Isaac Newton, Milton Friedman, and Me
'Who are four people who have never been in my kitchen?'
Can you *prove* they weren't?
I hear that there's a video of the five of you sitting around your kitchen table smoking crack.
But the media doesn't have the courage to expose your insidious conspiracy.
The queen and Doherty are still alive. You can go ahead and ask them.
And for LaRouche himself, who has a great sense of humor.
I didn't know the LaRouchies were still around. They used to plague the various D.C. Metro stations located near college campuses, especially Foggy Bottom-GWU. My wife and I once got a LaRouche pamphlet/magazine there that spent about 50 pages attempting to explain how Felix Rohatyn and the Nazis conspired to do something or other than had some sort of relation to everything that's wrong with the world today.
I've had conversations with deeply schizoid folks who made more sense.
The only contact I've ever had with LaRouche was reading one of his pamphlets when I locked my keys in my car and was waiting for AAA. It claimed that MySpace, as owed by Rupert Murdoch, and Facebook, as owned by Bill Gates, were conspiring to over sexualize the youth and, therefore, control their minds. Other than the obvious, I greatly enjoyed the unexplained factual leap that Bill Gates owned Facebook and not Mark Zuckerberg.

So, Facebook is some sort of bizarro opposite, for them, from what people on this board accuse FOX, Limbaugh and others about?
Crazy.
I'm so glad the LaRouche Youth Movement took the time to familiarize themselves with Lugner's body of work, before firing their stinky repartee about AoB.
