A Pot and a Kettle Walk Into a Bar…

|

Speaking of Maxine Waters, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) says she's one of the 13 most corrupt politicians in Congress. The Wall Street Journal describes her as an enabler, considering that Waters used her position on House Financial Services Committee to push for bailout cash for OneUnited. The New York Times says she's family-oriented: Her husband was on the OneUnited "board until early last year and has owned at least $250,000 of its stock." And Foxnews.com says OneUnited got in trouble with the FDIC "for 'unsafe or unsound banking practices,' including excessive compensation for its chief executive."

As Waters said in her remarks yesterday, there is indeed a "small group" creating public mistrust, and Waters is part of it. Sure, she can try to explain herself, as Geithner attempted to do yesterday. But the public should respond to her the same way she dismissed Geithner:

"I don't wanna get the nuances to the point where we misunderstand each other"

Reason contributor David Harsanyi called the government's reaction to AIG a phony outrage. More "public distrust" of Congress, AIG, and bailouts here

  1. I don’t wanna get the nuances to the point where we misunderstand each other

    That’s my favorite Ramones song.

  2. So it is wrong for Ms. Waters to make money but fine for AIG crooks? HA!

  3. This dumb bitch should resign.

Regardless she will get hers one day.

  4. Yo, fuck Maxine Waters.

  5. “says she’s one of the 13 most corrupt politicians in Congress”

Should be ‘said’ not ‘says’. That list is 3 1/2 years old. At least one person on the list is currently in jail for corruption.

    Is there an updated list?

  6. Not that I think highly of Waters, but how do you measure corruption?

  7. You put her on the scales opposite a duck.

  8. Jeff, you’re info is out of date. I think she has now reversed herself by 360 degrees.

  9. Maxine Waters cheap shot goes here.

She’ll be re-elected for as long as she wishes unless she is indicted or convicted. I’m not sure an indictement alone would be enough to cause her to lose in a primary election. This says more about the American electorate than it does about her.

  10. Two of them are in jail – Ney and Cunningham.

That list was very prescient. Full of Republicans too. Maxine – you dirty ho!

    And they missed Ted Stevens.

  11. Last week I called Charles Rangle a nigger. I think I’ll up the ante and call Maxine a nigger whore.

  12. Jeff, You DO know, don’t you, that by titling this “A Pot and A Kettle…” [Which are, y’know…, BLACK] and then talking about Maxine Waters, you have opened yourself up to charges of racism…?

  13. How can one of the dumbest members of congress also be one of the most corrupt?

  14. How can one of the dumbest members of congress also be one of the most corrupt?

Most criminals aren’t very bright. Of course they can be quite articulate.

  15. “Last week I called Charles Rangle a nigger. I think I’ll up the ante and call Maxine a nigger whore.”

And what say you of Obama?

  16. And what say you of Obama?

    What it a porch nigger?

  17. Speaking of Maxine Waters, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) says she’s one of the 13 most corrupt politicians in Congress.

    Nooooooooo!

    TofuShit,
So it is wrong for Ms. Waters to make money but fine for AIG crooks? HA!

You know, Tofu, you’re an incompetent debater. Who mentioned AIG, why bring this non sequitur?

  18. Incompetent debater, or semi-competent troll?
