Did Mother Jones ever consider that when the satellite was doing its 2009 pass over the airfield (more likely actually in 2007 or 2008) that the Global Hawks may have been somewhere else at the base (like inside a HAS) or even in the air?

Those two images prove exactly nothing except that when the satellite was passing over to generate the 2006 image, at least one Global Hawk happened to be on the apron for all to see (that could be the same 'Hawk in three different positions).

Unless you are accusing google or MJ of doctoring the photo, it shows there are three different UAVS (not Globalhawks - obvious to anyone who has ever looked at imagery). There is no way for the same aircraft to show up three times on one undoctored photo.

To the extent that the government denies that these drones are operating out of pakistan, it is a "coverup" - though this term implies something sinister - when in fact it's probably just classified.

I'm just calling into question the apparent "gotcha" that MJ thinks they have here.

Also, I didn't look close enough to determine which UAV it was, just using the article's initial verbiage.

As for there being "no way" that one aircraft shows up three times in a photo, I beg to differ. One mosaic (and that's all these really are) of Google Earth's pictures around Al Dhafra in the UAE from a couple of years ago showed about two dozen C-130s at various and regular points (sometimes only dozens of feet apart) on a taxiway, as well as similar anomalies regarding the KC-135s and such the US flies out of there.

Now, unless the UAEAF or the USAF commonly parades dozens of cargo aircraft around the taxiways at this airbase when satellites pass over, I'm going to go ahead and say that the photos happened to be taken as a few aircraft were taxiing around and that when it came time to put the photos together in a mosaic, it gave the impression of many aircraft on the ramp all ready to go.

Just saying that it is POSSIBLE that a similar thing happened here.

It's also quite likely that in 2006, the UAVs were indeed outside, while in 2009 they were either in the air or in shelter.

That's a more likely scenario than the Pakistani or US governments ordering Google to scrub the photos or that they stopped using them at that base to avoid losing face.
