  1. Episiarch   16 years ago

    That cartoon is racist.

  2. Reinmoose   16 years ago

This cartoon would have been better if the jockey was a giant ape

  3. twistedmerkin   16 years ago

I don't get it. Why is a cop wearing a sweater that says "Stimulus?"

  4. JW   16 years ago

You guys just had to go and call out Friday Funnies' name 3 times in the other threads, didn't you?

  5. P Brooks   16 years ago

    The pig should be whistling.

  6. Pink Cosmotarian   16 years ago

    "Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacist!"

  7. ed   16 years ago

    Above average!

  8. Warren   16 years ago

    GODDAMNIT!

I thought we were going to be spared the horror of a Friday Funny this week.

    Thanks for nothing Reason >:(

  9. Jamie Kelly   16 years ago

It's funny. Funny, I tells ya.

  10. kilroy   16 years ago

That's obviously a donkey and a partisan reference to breaking the back of the republicans.

  11. Kolohe   16 years ago

The jockey is supposed to be on the white house lawn, right?

  12. Jamie Kelly   16 years ago

It would only be racist if Obama were saying, "Yo, get yo muthafuckin' ass movin' befose I puts a cap in yo ass, mufuckin' ho'se."

  13. Kinder   16 years ago

    "That cartoon is racist."

Only because he's depicted as shufflin'.

  14. Episiarch   16 years ago

This cartoon would have been better if the jockey was a giant ape

Charlie: Man, these guys are crazy. I can't believe they bought all my pills.

Buster: Ah, you know what they say: nobody parties like a jockey!

Charlie: I was not familiar with that expression, Buster. I didn't even know you guys could talk.

  15. waldo   16 years ago

I guess it is making fun of the republicans, no where near as Funny as it could be

  16. ed   16 years ago

Damn, that monkey has some big ears.

  17. ed   16 years ago

It would have been funnier if the Pres were using a teleprompter.

  18. Reinmoose   16 years ago

    Warren -
they did it just to spite you
Next up - a Steve Chapman post

  19. J sub Sharpton   16 years ago

I haven't looked yet, but there'd better not be a monkey in this cartoon.

  20. Rev. Jesse Lamar   16 years ago

"I haven't looked yet, but there'd better not be a monkey in this cartoon."

It's worse. There's an actual black man.

  21. J sub Sharpton   16 years ago

A jockey? A lawn jockey on a mule (see 40 acres and)? You couldn't get watermelon and a Cadillac in there as well?

    Hate cartoon!!!

  22. P Brooks   16 years ago

    A PIG ON A HORSE?

The secret subtext of this cartoon is a slur on the valiant heroes of the RCMP. This will cause an international incident.

  23. Goober   16 years ago

    "A PIG ON A HORSE?"

There better not be any penetration.

  24. OO===D   16 years ago

"There better not be any penetration."

    Glandist.

  25. Scott Stantis   16 years ago

I've seen more creativity from 4-year-olds in fingerpainting class...

    ... and I'm the author/illustrator of this dreck! :-p

  26. John   16 years ago

J Sub D beat me to it. Since Obama claims that the bill is his and the bill in this case is portrayed as a jockey, the whole thing is just a racist dog wistle. Haven't you people ever heard lawn jockeys? Why don't you people take this around to some real black people and see if they think it is so funny.

  27. Dan\'s Mother   16 years ago

    "... and I'm the author/illustrator of this dreck! :-p"

    Courage, Scott. Courage.

  28. RayRay   16 years ago

"Why don't you people take this around to some real black people and see if they think it is so funny."

    YOU PEOPLE???

  29. Cracker   16 years ago

"Why don't you people take this around to some real black people and see if they think it is so funny."

Because Eric Holder said I can't. See, his junk's way bigger than mine.

  30. Rhetorical   16 years ago

Are the Friday Funnies a lot like what a period feels like?

It comes on a regular schedule, can sometime be excruciating, you dread it as the days count down and it gets closer and closer... and then you finally get it, and it's strangely reliving that the tension has been broken. You only have to deal with the messy by-products and you can forget about it for a while.

  31. Xeones   16 years ago

Rhetorical's comment wins, and should probably be included as a disclaimer in all future Friday Funnies.

  32. David Paterson   16 years ago

"Why don't you people take this around to some real black people and see if they think it is so funny."

    I didn't see a problem with it.

  33. John   16 years ago

Also, look at the ears on Obama. That looks suspiciously chimp like to me. How many racist dog whistles can you put into one cartoon anyway?

  34. Silentz   16 years ago

John, "you people" need to grow some thicker skin. If not, you're gonna start sounding like Muslims pretty soon. I laugh at 'honky' jokes all the time. If you can't laugh at yourself, you're in for a rough life. Plus, it would solve a lot of the racism issues around here.

    David Patterson, thank you.

  35. Episiarch   16 years ago

    Dog whistles can be racist?

  36. Mike M.   16 years ago

How are you enjoying your change so far, my fellow American comrades?

  37. SugarFree   16 years ago

    Dog whistles can be racist?

Yes, if only guilty white dogs can hear them.

  38. Silentz   16 years ago

    Epi,
Since humans can't hear dog whistles, how do we know it doesn't make a racist sound? Hmmm?

  39. Mad Max   16 years ago

Sarcasm is close to being the default attitude here, but there are still some folks who don't recognize it. Not that I blame them, since sarcasm is hard to convey in cold type.

  40. Bronwyn   16 years ago

Mad Max, that's because most people forget to have their sarcasmometers recalibrated at regular intervals.

  41. domoarrigato   16 years ago

B- (best in months) recommend topic other than the stimulus for next week. I think this might be the fifth in a row...

  42. John   16 years ago

    Silentz,

I agree and forgive my sarcasm not being more apparent. Sadly, my trolling is not really trolling since I have no doubt plenty of people actually think that way. Indeed, you had no problem believing I was serious. Sad really sad.

  43. Silentz   16 years ago

Sorry John, my sarcasm meter appears to be broken today. And there are just enough people around here that would actually think that way that it's hard to tell sometimes...

I'll put you on the list of "sarcastic, snarky" contributors.

  44. Marc   16 years ago

I'll put you on the list of "sarcastic, snarky" contributors.

Seems like it would be easier to keep a list of non-snarky contributors.

  45. Episiarch   16 years ago

Seems like it would be easier to keep a list of non-snarky contributors.

That's it, you go on the list.

  46. SugarFree   16 years ago

That's it, you go on the list.

    Which one?

  47. Episiarch   16 years ago

All of them. Except the one you're on.

  48. kwais   16 years ago

From this cartoon, it is obvious that a 200lb Chimp would beat a fast zombie.

I mean some of you purists will say that real zombies only attack humans (that is how they got the dog to deliver the lunch to the guy with the gun store).

But even if zombies did attack humans, a chimp would beat one.

A veloceraptor would beat a chimp though, I think.

  49. John   16 years ago

    Kwais,

It is the zombie gorillas that are the real threat. On zombie silverback beats two veloeraptors any day.

  50. SugarFree   16 years ago

    Except the one you're on.

So he's not on the Super Awesome Cool Guy Genius list. That's a shame.

  51. Silentz   16 years ago

That's not the list SF. It's the lists we all keep, not the one your mom keeps on the refrigerator.

  52. Episiarch   16 years ago

I mean some of you purists will say that real zombies only attack humans

Slow zombies attack humans, fast zombies attack everything.

A veloceraptor would beat a chimp though, I think.

Two working in concert could beat a chimp.

It is the zombie gorillas that are the real threat.

No, the true threat is the zombie werewolf vampire ninja. I barely got away from one of those once. I killed it with a silver katama fired out of a sawed-off shotgun with shuriken stuffed in for good measure.

  53. Kolohe   16 years ago

    zombie mothra vs Ditka ?

  54. SugarFree   16 years ago

Joke's on you, Silentz. My mom hates me.

  55. Jennifer   16 years ago

I personally could not feel any more stimulated if I put on a wet bathing suit and threw myself onto an electric fence.

  56. twistedmerkin   16 years ago

I personally could not feel any more stimulated if I put on a wet bathing suit

    Post pictures. We'll get stimulated.

  57. Episiarch   16 years ago

Joke's on you, Silentz. My mom hates me.

    That's the list.

    zombie mothra vs Ditka ?

    Mike Ditka?

  58. OO===D   16 years ago

"I personally could not feel any more stimulated if I put on a wet bathing suit and threw myself onto an electric fence."

    Guess again, sweetie!

  59. Warty   16 years ago

Jennifer, you should get a Hitachi Magic Wand. Even zombies love 'em.

  60. Naga Sadow   16 years ago

No, no, no!!! Slow zombies attack everything except plants. Fast zombies attack only humans. Refer to Dawn of the Dead remake and Max Brooks' novels.

    Epi,

I believe it's an old SNL gig line.

  61. Naga Sadow   16 years ago

    Da Bears!

  62. bigbigslacker   16 years ago

Yeah, because sarcasm is so hard to detect...

  63. St. Valentine   16 years ago

But the zombie threat is real...

Government tapes have been leaked and formatted as "movies." Why do you think the acting is always so terrible? They're actually training videos!

My source: I know an aide who works for Crazy eyed Pelosi.

  64. kwais   16 years ago

No, no, no!!! Slow zombies attack everything except plants. Fast zombies attack only humans. Refer to Dawn of the Dead remake and Max Brooks' novels.

    Quoted for truth.

    Jen,
people were just missing you on the other thread. So nice of you to show

  65. Why so serious   16 years ago

    bigbigslacker?

  66. d   16 years ago

    Post pictures. We'll get stimulated.

I think a couple of people got stimulated by the mere description.

  67. Naga Sadow   16 years ago

    d,

I think it was the name of her blog. Feral genius. Thats Hot!

  68. Preston   16 years ago

    The pig should say:

    "My wife is a slut."

  69. Jennifer   16 years ago

people were just missing you on the other thread. So nice of you to show

Which thread is that? I'm not supposed to be here at all; I'm procrastinating from actual workish-related tasks.

  70. Mad Max   16 years ago

    bigbigslacker,

What do you mean? Detecting sarcasm is *easy!*

  71. kwais   16 years ago

    Which thread is that?

The one about the chimp that got shot, and now can't write anymore stimulus packages.

There is like a million posts there though, so if you are trying to work, you might want to skip it. And most of the posts are about joe quitting H&R.

  72. KD   16 years ago

Scot Stantis quoted here on Cartoonists treading lightly about representations of POTUS.

And Jen, don't plan on working for the rest of the day if you go through that entire other thread.

  73. bigbigslacker   16 years ago

Yeah, because that solves this sensitive matter.

    David, are you being sarcastic?

  74. P Brooks   16 years ago

Maybe David's a Lenny Bruce fan.

  75. Richard Stands   16 years ago

    This cartoon is obviously horse-racist.

  76. Jennifer   16 years ago

And Jen, don't plan on working for the rest of the day if you go through that entire other thread.

I skimmed through it out of some masochistic tendency. Sounds like a non-issue. The chimp got shot in a suburb of New York, and it's been all over the papers in Connecticut too, and the whole "racist" issue strikes me as a non-sequitur. The first thought I had when seeing the cartoon was the "million monkeys writing Hamlet" comment.

  77. Scarpe Nike   14 years ago

    is good

  78. moncler outlet   14 years ago

    good

  79. caibutou   13 years ago

    thank

  80. LifeStrategies   13 years ago

    absolutely brilliant!
