Obama to "Create or Save" Jobs?
I'm watching the endless, Castrovian run-up to President Obama actually putting his John Hancock on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Jeebus H. Christ, how much Joe Biden can a fella take? Just shut up and sign it already!
In this speech, Obama continues the sleight of hand regarding the promised job creation in the bill. He's gone from talking up the 4 million jobs the bill would create to now talking about the 4 million jobs it will "create or save," thereby taking credit for giving tens of thousands of public-sector employees whose jobs were never really at risk in the first place continued salaries. The legislation, says Obama is "bold and balanced," full of broadband deployment in North Dakota and promised fiscal integrity somewhere down the road (and the road to recovery, he promises, "will not be straight").
We work again, America!
Reason.tv warned against Obama's new New Deal which, if it's anything the old New Deal, will extend or exacerbate economic woes:

Broadband deployment?
I'm saved!
Not so oddly enough, I noted the "create or save" language in a Reuters report from back on January 10. There's no direct BHO quote, but I assumed it wasn't just something they invented but was based on something he said that they didn't quote.
The Reuters report is linked from the end of this question about the stimulus bill, the one that Reason is too chicken to ask even the lowliest politician. Seriously, they wouldn't even dare ask a Podunk alderman that question, much less Specter and friends.
(and the road to recovery, he promises, "will not be straight")
Does this mean that drag clubs get a piece of the pie too?
I still can't wait to see if I will get hired in the HDA (Hole Digging Administration) or the HFA (Hole Filling Administration)! Employment here I cumz!!

I'm glad somebody else finally noticed.
Even after the Productive Economy sheds another 5 million jobs this year, the Parsin' President can still take credit for saving us.
What do they call it when you cannot falsify an assertion? Religion?
"What do they call it when you cannot falsify an assertion? Religion?"
Bwahahaha!!!
R C Dean,
So, you and Nick and OLS noticed?
He's gone from talking up the 4 million jobs the bill would create to now talking about the 4 million jobs it will "create or save," ...
Wow, Obama may be saving my job even while I sit here goofing off on my lunch hour. Thanks, President dude!
"What do they call it when you cannot falsify an assertion? Religion?"
Par for the course for president 666.
Shut the fuck up, LoneWacko. Christ, you're like gonorrhea of the internet.
"Does this mean that drag clubs get a piece of the pie too?"
Oh, I'm straight, honey. Sometimes I just like being a girl.
Reason is stupid and dumb. I come here every day just to point that out.
"Wow, Obama may be saving my job even while I sit here goofing off on my lunch hour. Thanks, President dude!"
You waste your lunch hour here at reason???
I've think we may have just broken through another psychological barrier today: DJIA down almost 300 points, 3.8%, closes at 7,522.60. Yikes.
Since the beginning of Inauguration Day, it's now down over 700 points and almost 9%. Maybe borrowing and spending a few trillion more dollars will fix things!
Maybe borrowing and spending a few trillion more dollars will fix things!
You can't prove it won't!
Have I just overlooked him, or has Joe not been around here defending the stimulus bill and Obama's various claims and appointments and sneering at all who disagree? Has Obama embarrassed him into silence in the first month?
4 million jobs saved? What a small-minded thinker.
All that Obama has to do is get on of his Dem governer friends to say that ALL of their state employees will be laid off without some stimulus money and viola, Obama saves 10's of millions of jobs.
I mean shit, if we're just throwing numbers around anyway, might as well make him the Greatest President Ever.
Have I just overlooked him, or has Joe not been around here defending the stimulus bill and Obama's various claims and appointments and sneering at all who disagree? Has Obama embarrassed him into silence in the first month?
I noticed that too. Have the democrats finally reached the limit of his humility?
President Obama's plan will save 500 million Americans' jobs this month alone.
Have I just overlooked him, or has Joe not been around here defending the stimulus bill and Obama's various claims and appointments and sneering at all who disagree? Has Obama embarrassed him into silence in the first month?
You have not overlooked him.
I'm going to go home, think about this for a while, then stimulate the hell out of something. At least I'm productive!
Time for Henry Morgenthau, again:
"We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started and an enormous debt to boot."
He said this in a hearing before the House ways and means committee in 1939.

I noticed that too. Have the democrats finally reached the limit of his humility?
Maybe he's looking at his 401K and mutual fund statements and is too overcome with depression to go online.
Regarding joe's abscence -
joe was an astro-turfing project from the Soros Group. He will be reactivated once The One has to run for office again.
That is all.
"What do they call it when you cannot falsify an assertion?"
If 3.99 million people are left with jobs at the end of the year this statement is falsifiable!
Thank you, OLS! Now we know what we must do! Ask politicians the questions you don't bother to ask but kind of want to know the answer to! If you weren't so busy writing on your blog!
Hooray! Hooray for OLS!
So, you and Nick and OLS noticed?
I feel kind of, I dunno, soiled.
Forgive me, Barack! I knew not what I did!
Stop dissing the stimulus! It's just what we need! It's got electrolytes and shit!
Hopenchange the recession mutilator:
It's got electrolytes!
That's funny, I remember plenty of morons here mocking those who said another New Deal was on the way.
I personally believe that the reason U.S. Americans are unable to find work uh because uh some people out there in our nation don't have jobs. I believe that our investment and re-education such as in the uh Iraq and South Africa, and like such as that we should help those to find jobs like in South Africa that we can help the America like the Iraq, and to help build up our future.
great article!
Reason.tv warned against Obama's new New Deal
Yeah. That's why we should have voted for Obama. Because we all know the Republicans deserved to get their asses kicked.
And they did. And that made it all better.
Er, wait a minute....
Yeah, I noticed the switch from "creating" jobs to "create or save" jobs. But did you also notice the other piece of Obama propanganda being spread on the Sunday talk shows: that it will "take about two years" before we see the "benefits" of the stimulus package kick in?
I don't have the statistics at my fingertips, but it seems to me that the recessions we have had over the past 30-40 years have lasted about, say, two years. How about that!
And I seem to recall that economists had been predicting that we'd begin to emerge from this recession in late '09 or early '10.
So Obama has positioned himself to take credit for a recovery that would have occurred anyway.
