One More Sign of the Apocalypse: Lou Dobbs and Reason See Eye-to-Eye on Stimulus Pork and Charles Schumer's Jackassery
Well, it was bound to happen at some point: Reason and Lou Dobbs actually agree on something. As this segment from last night shows, the CNN immigrant-bashing protectionist is right on target when calling bullshit on all the pork stuffed into the stimulus bill.
Bonus points: He includes a bit from Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) attacking "the chattering class that so much focuses on those little, tiny, yes porky amendments [in the stimulus bill]" and proclaiming that "the American people really don't care."
Double-bonus points: Reason columnist and Mercatus Center scholar Veronique de Rugy gets airtime declaiming among other things Sen. Harry Reid's multi-billion-dollar Nevada railroad boondoggle. Approximately 3.30 minutes.
Return now to thrilling days of yesteryear when Lou Dobbs was yammering on about the middle-class meltdown:
And here's Lou attacking furriners and NAFTA for taking all the jobs outta America:

In the Drew Carey video, the economist dude said, "it's not the high cost of living that's the problem, it's the cost of living high." He said that most Americans could easily maintain a 70s-type lifestyle without being economically pinched. Maybe it's time to start doing this.

Yeah, well, its a hell of a lot smarter than taking out a home equity loan to pay off your maxed out credit card.

But, all the cool kids are doing it!

No, I'm NEVER letting Disco, bell-bottoms, and the goddamn crappy music come back!
EVER!
I watched the Dobb's video and I gotta hand it to Chucky Schumer.
Just when you think you can't hate that arrogant, sneering, meat puppet pimp any more, he goes and finds a new way to make you loathe him and everything that he touches even more. I think I may even hate the air that Schumer breathes.

The irony of someone posting this on the Internet is, well, groovy.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day..

A long enough contraction, and we will whether we want to or not. Siphoning money out of the productive economy to fund the expansion of the state is probably an excellent way to ensure a long enough contraction.
"immigrant bashing"? That's a cheap choice of words, Gillespie, and you know it.
I'm automatically suspicious of anything advocated by a tool like Dobbs. If Lou Dobbs endorsed water, I'd stop bathing...
