The Teacher Pension Bomb
An interesting read in connection with today's freshly posted article by Jon Entine from the February issue of Reason magazine on the forthcoming public pension crisis is this look from RiShawn Biddle at the American Spectator on one particular aspect of the overall red-ink spattered picture: public school teachers grossly underfunded pension and health care commitments.

grossly underfunded
Isn't that America in a nutshell?
It wasn't a market failure. Don't ever say that there has been a market failure. Heresy! Heresy!

Hail Market,
Full of grace,
Prosperity is with thee.
Blessed art thou among systems,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Capital.
Holy Market,
Mother of Goods,
pray for us consumers now,
and at the hour of our bankruptcy.
Amen.

Hey, how about that! This article appears for free online the very same day as my February issue arrives in my mailbox. Maybe I'm wasting money on a subscription...
Yea, Chuck, but a laptop is unwieldy in the bathroom.
It is going to be too bad when the people the teachers failed to educate, intentionally in my mind, can't earn enough money to bail out their pensions.
And you can't use the laptop to clean up your cat's hairballs either.
Maybe if you have this kind of laptop. It never ceases to amaze me how many people buy laptops that have the weight, size, and heat of a cast iron griddle. Laptops are for portability: anything more than 5 lbs. and 15" diagonal is missing the point.

Lefiti
How would one even go about analysing a coerced government monopoly for market failure?
The mind boggles.
How wellfunded is the trolls'[ pension program?
"It wasn't a market failure. Don't ever say that there has been a market failure."
There's no need to.
Government jobs, government run pension systems and politicians overpromising benefits isn't "the market" - it's the government.
I wonder if Lefiti realizes that his spammeriffic posts are destroying the planet one cute fuzzy animal at a time.
Pension funds are inversted in the stock market, you sniveling halwits. Fucking zombie true believers. Gather round the cult's clubhouse and jerk each other off, morons.
Poor lefiti.
He has a chip on his shoulder because nature abhors the perfect vacuum between his ears.
Gilbert,
Your head is so far up your fundamentalist libertarian ass that it's a wonder you can breath.
I guess in your world we can just import pension funding from Rainbow Puppy Island.
Lefiti's just upset because Naomi Klein won't return his phone calls and hasn't read his fan mail.
You are wasting your time trying to get to me, lefiti.
As your name implies, you are a leftist.
And it is, quite literally, physically impossible for any leftist to ever be superior to any non-leftist in any aspect of existence on this earth.
No, you fucking idiot. We can regulate the economy and and save investors from crooks. Let's hear for the public sector and a resonable role for the state. Down with market fudnamtalism
Sigh, Lefiti makes me miss Juanita.
?Juana?
I don't think left titty has a philosophy, his comments are designed to get under our skin and nothing more. I admit he's more entertaining than the new crop of trolls, though.
The government IS the people, wingnuts, and you'll all be sorry once the people blargle take gragh agh the power from you market fundamentalist libtards! Arghy! A chicken in every pot, and a squirrel in every ass! Bleh! Bleh!
We can regulate the economy and and save investors from crooks
Lefiti, why don't we have those teacher's pension funds invest in municipal funds thereby avoiding the free market crooks altogether?
"...more entertaining than the new crop of trolls, though."
Back in my day, everytime we'd log on to blog, the trolls would kill us and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah."
But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.
You are wasting your time trying to get to me, le___
So don't rise to its bait, fool.
Lefiti, your troll-posts have consumed more energy than the average Mauritanian uses in 6 months. As penance, you must hold your breath for 14 minutes. Longer if you survive.
And it is, quite literally, physically impossible for any leftist to ever be superior to any non-leftist in any aspect of existence on this earth.
Leftist women are easier to pick up at closing time. Does that count?
Pension funds are inversted in the stock market, you sniveling halwits.
A completely spontaneous, yet perfect, example of joe'z law.
