"Death Dealer"?
Bullet-50 is a company that sells street clothes to off-duty and undercover police officers. For example, they specialize in clothes that make it easier to carry a concealed gun. Bullet-50 was founded by Officer Joseph Salazar, who is also still a cop with the San Francisco Police Department. It looks as if the company markets exclusively to police officers. No problem so far. Seems like a good idea.
I wonder, though, what the hell they're thinking with this t-shirt, which is for sale on the Bullet-50 website:

What is “Lay down or get down” supposed to mean?
Hard to read — Is that “Lay Down or Get Down”? What does that mean? Anybody do copspeak?
Only a very stupid plainclothes cop would wear a shirt that only cops buy.
I would guess it means that when they tell you to get on the ground, if you don’t, you will be shot down. What the hell else would it mean, knowing the cop mentality?
Can’t we just ship all the wanna-be soldier cops off to Iraq and let the kids over there come home?
It means “Get down on the ground or you’d better duck ’cause I will put a cap in your ass”.
No, no idea what they were thinking with this shirt. Beyond tasteless.
Just more manifestations of the standard thug mentality in our LEOs.
There’s obviously nothing wrong with it, they only shoot at bad people, remember?
Epis,
LOL. I think most of these self proclaimed “death dealers” would shit themselves if they actually had to fight real combat instead of helpless civilians.
Always a treat when Mr. Balko gets me blood pressure soaring this early in the day.
Does this infer that the intended target is generally a spade?
I would have just assumed “Bullet 50” was a neu-metal band, based on that shirt.
Cops are not the enemy of street gangs, they’re the competition. More and more the cops don’t just think like gang members, they want to look like them too.
Damn, lost a bet with myself. I was sure somebody was gonna mention Kate Beckinsale’s monologue at the beginning of “Underworld” within the first 10 posts.
But on a serious note, we know that the cops on “The Shield” and in David Ayer movies aren’t a complete fiction.
Art, I’m just glad that most cops aren’t nearly as smart as Vic Mackey.
Is the 50 the number of points we get if we hit that spot?
Only a very stupid plainclothes cop would wear a shirt that only cops buy.
I live on the west side of Chicago and, being a white guy, get stopped by plain-clothed cops more frequently than I would care to. The last cop that stopped me was wearing a Texas Longhorns t-shirt. I asked him why he left the top hat and funny nose glasses back home with the rest of his disguise kit.
Sometimes a t-shirt is just a t-shirt.
Episiarch, said this :I would guess it means that when they tell you to get on the ground, if you don’t, you will be shot down. What the hell else would it mean, knowing the cop mentality?
Can’t we just ship all the wanna-be soldier cops off to Iraq and let the kids over there come home?
Damn, I love reading your posts. We need more free thinking people in the world. Thanxs for giving me a little hope in human kind again.
smeghead, I can’t tell if that’s an actual compliment or a wonderfully sarcastic put-down. Please let me know so I can decide whether to thank you or attack you.
Death Dealer? Ah, truth in advertising?
It is a compliment.
Thank you.
How come they got cap & ball revolvers on there instead of Glocks or sumthin’…?
Am I missing something copistically symbolic here?
Epi, would ya consider attacking him anyway, just for practice? Ya haven’t had much opportunity lately if I’f I recall… and it would be entertaining for the rest of us. (p.s. attack me too please, I’d like to save it as a momento for my future library/museum!)
Well, first off, I thought “Reason” was in favor of concealed weapons for everyone, or at least the right to wear one. And, second, isn’t this the kind of tee-shirt one could buy at a gun show?
Sometimes a t-shirt made by, and marketed exclusively to cops is just a t-shirt made by, and marketed exclusively to cops.
Cops are parasites. Always. Every time. No exceptions. Period.
Hell, cops already act like street gangs, they might as well start dressing the part.
It’s somewhat discomforting that the lame “Protect and Serve” has been replaced with the far more honest “Death Dealer”. I applaud truth in advertising but …
p.s. attack me too please, I’d like to save it as a momento for my future library/museum!
Why? Who the fuck gives a shit about you or finds you interesting enough to attack?
(how is that?)
Not bad – I’ll start the collection with that one..
Here’s another great example of the “cop” mentality:

Alan,
I support the right to wear a concealed weapon. I support the right for off-duty cops to wear concealed weapons. I think it’s great that a company has figured out that there may be a niche for clothing tailored to fit off-duty and undercover cops carrying concealed weapons.
My problem is that here we have a company founded by a cop, and that caters to police, selling a shirt emblazoned with the company logo and a skull that says “death dealer.”
It’s either fostering a troubling “us vs. them” mentality, or it’s catering to one that’s already there.
So am I supposed to hate this company because they sell only to whom they choose, or because they put something on a t-shirt that may be offensive to somebody who takes t-shirts too seriously?
there may be a niche for clothing tailored to fit off-duty and undercover cops carrying concealed weapons.
Why won’t they sell to other citizens who carry concealed weapons (legally)?
I kind of have a problem with that, to tell you the truth.
Sometimes a t-shirt made by, and marketed exclusively to cops is just a t-shirt made by, and marketed exclusively to cops
I didn’t see anything on the site asking me for a badge number but perhaps I didn’t get far enough along in the purchase. “Made by” cops? I laugh. Evidently when they’re not knocking down doors and killing innocent orphans they’re manning sewing machines. “To serve and stitch.” Tee hee hee.
double standard bearer : You are suppose to be angry because these people claim to”Protect and serve” the public. Not oppress and kill the public they are suppose to be protecting.
They could at least not brag about with a t-shirt.
Double Standard Bearer-
You are are choosing to be obtuse. Isn’t the healthy attitude one of disdain for any person who champions the extension of state power?
Only losers choose to be part of Bolshevism’s blue bellied bullies brigade. Always. Every time. No exceptions. Period.
SPeaking of double standards. Why don’t we see cops demanding that there be no more immunity for any state actros, including their shrunken stalinist scrota?
Perhaps the biggest losers are not the cops themselves-perhaps that distinction belongs to the sycophants who love to scratch the scrotum of those who serve and protect. Is that you?
Dealing death to any citizen who fails to unquestioningly obey the police.
You nice fellows do understand that the vast majority of cops never fire their weapons in the line of duty, don’t you? Not once in an entire career. Not to rain on your hate-fest or anything.
Just sayin’.
Doesn’t that make these t-shirts even stupider, ed? It sort of exposes the ridiculous fantasy world that cops live in, and in so doing gives us some insight into what’s going on in their heads.
“I’ll probably never fire my gun but I’m a DEATH-DEALER!!!”
You really want douchebags like that pulling you over?

Hell, cops already act like street gangs, they might as well start dressing the part.
Ruben Bolling already addressed that point
You nice fellows do understand that the vast majority of cops never fire their weapons in the line of duty, don’t you?
Kind of cuts against the whole “being a cop is so dangerous” thing, doesn’t it.
I think we have an equal problem with trigger-happy cops and their many, many enablers in the blue wall of silence.
I mean, you do understand that however rare it is for a cop to fire his weapon, its even more rare for a cop to testify against another cop?
I think we should give police even more of our freedoms, in exchange for demanding all cops have an IQ of 130 or higher.
Perhaps the biggest losers are not the cops themselves-perhaps that distinction belongs to the sycophants who love to scratch the scrotum of those who serve and protect. Is that you?
Because I believe that a person should be able to create, market and sell t-shirts? Are you going to make it against the law for him to do so? Will you use police to enforce that law?
Obtuse is using a t-shirt company to make some vague accusation that cops are murderers.
It is not obtuse to point out (very specifically) that marketing those t-shirts is not a violation of the NAP.
Maybe you should tell me exactly what’s wrong with these t-shirts? Are they purchased with tax payer money?
Cops are parasites. Always. Every time. No exceptions. Period.
Until you need one?
So you can replace the evil ones with evil geniuses? Hmm?
Err?
Until you need one?
So if I rush my “Kop Killer” line of shirts to market, I should be okay, right?
double standard bearer:
has anyone here called for making these t-shirts or the selling of them illegal?
have people exercised their first amendment-guaranteed right to criticize the mindset implied by the manufacture, selling, purchasing, and/ or wearing of the t-shirt? yes
you’re a bit of a thickie, aren’t you?
I’m thinking, a cop badge within concentric circles, maybe.
And one with a silhouette head and shoulders, wearing one of those Smokey-the-Bear hats.
That shirt isn’t the slightest bit surprising. You guys ever do any gym work besides the stairmaster at your local Curves and pilates? Whether they fire their weapons on duty or not, the majority of the SWAT or task force type cops are Vic Mackey on HGH with a lower IQ.
Have you seen what those teenagers are wearing these days?
Hoodlums and devil-worshippers, all of ’em!
And they get their clothing from people who have marketed it exclusively to them!
I’m not sure it’s a matter of thinking like gang members, so much as trying to blend in with them. I would think that the message sent by the shirt would be less “OMG I’m a dangerous, civilian-shooting cop!” and more “I’m just another gangsta-lovin’ urban dude, don’t anyone mistake me for a cop.” As in, camouflage.
They also have one that says:
“THUG HUNTER”
We need a metal riff:
“I’m a thug-hunting, death-dealing cop, and I’m here to ‘protect and serve’ your arse”
There’s a quote on the website:
“The only mountains we climb are measured in kilos”
The similarities between Bullet-50 and 50 Cent are to many to count.
Yeah, ed, I know. It’s just that a lot of the cops who DO fire their guns tend to, you know, kill people. Also, I’m not sure what your little factoid has to do with the thread.
fucking cops.
Maybe it’s a reference to the Five-Oh? You know, really short cops.
I’m confused by this?
So this company makes street clothing with distinct text and markings on them and targets off-duty and undercover cops exclusively?
How do these T-shirts support the fiction of non-cop-ness the undercover cop wants to radiate?
“Honestly, I’m no cop, I bought it used!”
??
ACTUALLY, “LAY DOWN” MEANS JUST THAT, STOP WHAT YOUR DOING, GET ON THE GROUND & SUBMIT. “OR GET DOWN” MEANS THEN LET’S HAVE AT IT, ENGAGE ME IN SOME WAY, FIREFIGHT, KNIFE FIGHT, OR PHYSICAL FIGHT. DEATH DEALER, YOU’RE GAMBLING WITH YOUR LIFE BY NOT SUBMITING TO ME & I MAY DEAL YOU THE HAND OF DEATH! I’M GUESSING YOU HAVEN’T SEEN “NSIFMB” (NEVER SHALL I FAIL MY BROTHER) OR “MONSTER SLAYER” EITHER? JUST RESPECT AUTHORITY & EVERYTHING WILL BE O.K., & DON’T FORGET TO BUCKLE UP!
