If Net Neutrality (defined for now as the bill moving through Congress) wasn't in trouble already, I think this just killed it. It's the musical stylings of three - let's admit it - wackjobs who got famous over the internet and want to make sure future generations can do goofy things to get their fifteen minutes, too. Turn the volume down. Or way up!

I know, I know, Reason is against Net Neutrality because it thinks the net's infrastructure was built by the sweat of AT&T's unregulated, competitive brow. Those of us who work with regulated utilities know how it doesn't quite work to deregulate at the drop of a hat.

I have a question. By associating a truly filthy, disgusting Senator with that "frothy mixture", how does that help homosexual men be more accepted by society? I find Rick Santorum to be disgusting scum that would have been better had he been aborted in the first trimester. Am I also to feel that people producing "santorum" are equally as vile?

Ah, yes, I forgot how private the telcos in the US have been all these years. No monopolies, no subsidies, no lobby, none of that!

If we were serious about promoting true free market competitveness in telecommunications we would be fighting to crack the local telco/local cableco duopoly in the "last mile" of wire that connects to homes and businesses. Maybe better wireless tech will do that, but the FCC issues licenses for that "scarce" resource. When you can choose between competing cable providers, competing DSL companies, the dish, wireless connection or even microwave, then the firms demanding an extra toll to use "their network" won't have much bargaining power.

If it wouldn't hurt me so much, I'd be happy for telcos to recreate the wonderful days of Prodigy. Remember them? They were the last big holdout of the online service providers, refusing to provide access to the wider internet. They were convinced if they provided the right mix of services and content, people would stay right in their box and pay them extra for their premium services. The idea that somebody else could make money over something they controlled--even if they got money from the person already just for the joy of being online--was too much for them.

Yeah, the market spoke but it took a while. It was nearly completely unregulated, too. The telcos are not even close to unregulated and will throw up a lot of legal barriers to any company wanting to break their system.

Until they lose the last of their regulatory protections, I don't support them being able to invent a crisis in order to avoid passing their operating costs on to their own customers for the service they provide.

I finally played the video through my el-cheapo dialup pipe. Peter Pan and Tron guy were familiar, those puppets (from the Quiznos commercials?), and that awful CGI baby from Ally McBeal. I think it could have used the dancing hamsters, and maybe those football-playing badgers who "played for England."

First, it shouldn't matter where I work as long as my posts make logical sense. Your post is an ad hominem without any specific hominem. It's like a logical flaw with its own intelligence issues!! Second, I fight reglulation in my job and make plenty doing it. Meanwhile, I was unaware that there is an official libertarian stand regarding the highly complex, yet well-defined field of "where you get your money." Third, you could attack the post I made? There are opposing arguments, you know. They aren't particularly strong, but I gather neither is your capacity for rhetoric.
