We've Got One Day Here, And Not Another Minute, To See the Famous Sights—We'll Find the Romance and Danger Waiting In It, Beneath the Tulsa Lights
If you're a sailor on leave in an Oklahoma port, there's one more thing you can do:
Oklahoma became the last state to make tattoos legal when the governor signed legislation Wednesday to license and regulate tattoo artists and parlors.
The measure ends a ban on tattooing that had been in effect since 1963.
Before this measure passed, overzealous Okie cops were known to confiscate tattoos at the border.

I can sleep better now that I can get a snake on my face in all 50 states.
For the record, I have a tattoo of a Beholder on my right upper arm (I got it when I was 21). Yes, I'm that much of a geek. It looks cool, though. The artist did a great job. And most people don't know what it is.
MNG: has anybody pointed to it and exclaimed:
BEHOLD!
*crickets
kicks pebble. exeuent
Mr. Nice Guy - And the people who do know what it is can't mock you because in doing so they'd have to reveal their own geekery.
Matt: just use your +6 Beholder Mocker.
(bard's tale, anyone?)
Whoah. I'ts Just a Joke Man = my new favorite blog.

Now Adult Emporiums can have their trademarked spokesmen appear in every state of the Union!
Years ago I saw a stripper with a Brujah symbol on her lower back. I discreetly asked her and yes, it was definitely from the World of Darkness.
I don't know if I would game with a stripper. It would be very sexy and weird at the same time.

It's too bad that's a joke. It sounded so good I wanted it to be true. 🙂
I live in downtown Oklahoma and I must say that this really is a big deal. It wasn't that the tattoos were illegal, it was the process of getting them within state lines. There has been for many years a very profitable underground tattoo society within the state who has campaign heavily for legalization all the while regulating itself so that it would be seen as a clean and sterile trade. That idea still did not sit well with some state lawmakers who continued to show reports that tattoos in Oklahoma let to outbreaks of disease all while forgetting that many were operating without any regulation. What finally caused the state government to break down was a guy who found a loophole in a state supreme court ruling that I believe applied to permanent make-up which in Oklahoma is considered a tattoo. Permanent make-up was legalized because the court agreed that it could only be applied by a doctor but, and more importantly, technology had progressed so far that any markings can now be removed. This loophole was spotted by a local entrepreneur who opened a shop which he called First Amendment Tattoos. He did get a visit from the authorities but the money he made outweighed the fines he had to pay so he not only stayed in business but also opened more shops around the state. The success of his shops forced the state to step in and either strengthen the laws against tattoo shops or leaglize them all together. Lucky for us they made the right decision.
