"Only an idiot wouldn't like this," Sez Self-Described "Rich Witch"
Teresa Heinz Kerry lays down her own version of the Republicanoid line, "Either you're with us or against us". And she follows it up with a Martin Luther King-like cry to be judged not by the thickness of her wallet but on the content of her husband's policy proposals. In Amish country, no less! (And in the land of discount outlet malls, too!). To wit:
LANCASTER, Pa.—Teresa Heinz Kerry said Wednesday that "only an idiot" would fail to support her husband's health care plan.
"Of course, there are idiots," Heinz Kerry…told the (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal….
If Kerry is elected, Heinz Kerry predicted that opponents of his health care plan would be voted out of office. "Only an idiot wouldn't like this," she said….
"I don't have to sell it—the people want it," Heinz Kerry said of the health plan. "The common man doesn't look at me as some rich witch. I talk about what I see. It has always been so. You judge people not by their pocketbook but by their actions. Walk the walk."
Whole thing here.

gadfly, perhaps you mean never killed anyone “like other senators from MA we know.”
This is the best news Rove will get all day.
“just where does the government derive the Constitutional authority to provide health care or health insurance, anyway?”
forget the authority, where’s the constitutional mandate to provide health care? It shouldn’t be the Fed’s problem. But if they decide that it is, then they’ll find the authority.
I love it when a “Rich Bitch” talks nasty to me!
opus, you realize that the Heinz-Kerrys are among the biggest philanthropists in the country, right?
Yeah she’s speaking her mind alright, and it ain’t a pretty sight. Please make it go away!
I know you are but what am I?
What the hell is gadfly talking about?
Two possible explanations:
What a condescending, arrogant b14tch. Pardon my anger, but this limousine-liberal “We know what’s good for you” attitude just irks me.
Doug,
Laura Bush ran over and killed her ex-boyfriend.
And Hillary drove Vince Foster to suicide. Can we call it a draw, and MoveOn(TM)?
Only one of those statements actually has a police report to substantiate it, but yes, we should drop it.
Actually, neither of them does. Laura Welch collided with his car, she didn’t run him over.
i like how she uses the phrase “the common man” without stopping to adjust her monacle and mink stole.
“What a condescending, arrogant b14tch. Pardon my anger, but this limousine-liberal “We know what’s good for you” attitude just irks me.”
In that regard she’s the typical liberal – their whole philosophy is wrapped aorund that conceit – “We know what’s good for you” – much better than you do yourself.
Was she stoned when she ran into her ex?
Also, is Bush actualy snorting two eigtballs a day? I remember reading how Kenedy was high and/or on LSD during the cuban missle crisis. Maybe tweaking your viewpoint makes any president a little frisky?

Yeah, no conservatives ever have that attitude.
Laura Welch’s accident has been well documented.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/e1698.htm
Only whackos accuse her of “running down” the young man who lost his life. That a teenager was involved as the driver in a fatal accident is sad, but it isn’t uncommon, and only rarely criminal.
Kevin
“Yeah, no conservatives ever have that attitude.”
Nowhere near the extent of liberals they haven’t – since the whole basis of their collectivist ideology is that THEY should be the one’s steering the collective.
She sounds like Michael Savage. I thought her kind were “above” that type of debate.
THK is a big-time philanthropist, but it’s not with her or JK’s money. She oversees the philanthropy organizations of the Heinz family.
Her use of the name “Heinz” (as in Teresa Heinz Kerry) is a little misleading because most people would assume that it is her maiden name (e.g. Hillary Rodham Clinton). She married into the Heinz fortune and is still active in the family. That may be the reason that she retains the “Heinz” in her name. Of course a cynical person would assume that she uses the name to remind others of her own importance.
One of the great things about being an American, one of the fundamental freedoms promised by the founders is the right to do things that Theresa Heinz-Kerry finds idiotic. Of course someone who pays cash for a Gulfstream jet is probably not the best source of information on reality. If a bottle brunette who has never had to lift a finger to support herself cannot understand why I would not want to turn over my healthcare decisions to the government; if a woman who marries a billionaire then inherits all his money believes she knows my own healthcare needs better than I do; if someone who has apparently never actually earned a nickel in the private sector believes that the government can make better decisions about my healthcare than I can then I guess we really know who the idiot is. Most importantly if someone who has yet to say something I would recognize as even bordering on intelligent considers me and my brethren idiots because we are fully cognizant of governments inability to perform even the most fundamental tasks with what could be described as modest competence then the chick knows from idiot.
“Nothing scare me more, Joe, than good intentions.”
like bringing the chance for freedom and Liberal Democracy to a middle eastern country?
(couldn’t resist, grin)
cheers!

You guys are a little thin skinned about being called idiots when your loved ones on the right do it to the left all the time. Pussies.
The real point is that government is abandoning its responsibility to provide for the health, education and welfare of its citizens. It will fight wars on the other side of the world, lock citizens up in record numbers, borrow money to do it and get huzzahs from the idiots. They then turn schools and health care over to the Neil Bush and HealthSouths of America and claim its the best in the world.
Idiots.
The class warfare angle is quite amusing.
Usually it’s the Republicans who are whining about “class warfare” and “the politics of envy.” But they are hardly new to it themselves. The difference is, Republican class warfare appeals to faux populist resentment of upper middle class professionals (the New Class, Bobos, whatever you want to call them).
The real irony is that the New Class only came into existence as a result of the corporate revolution and the need for a large managerial class to staff corporations and the corporate state. The New Class is a very junior partner to the plutocracy.
This kind of fake populism that diverts the resentment of Red State America to managerial and cultural elites, while sparing the billionaires they serve, is a byproduct of the revolution in propaganda technology around WWI or so. And (a second irony) it was the New Class that engineered this modern art of shaping public opinion.
Gadfly,
I’ll grant you this, you silly, silly insect:
If we could divert the cost of killing a terrorist to paying a doctor’s bill, the whole world would be a healthier and safer place.
“You guys are a little thin skinned about being called idiots when your loved ones on the right do it to the left all the time.”
Riiight. When was the last time you heard Laura Bush, Elizabeth Dole, Barbara Bush or Nancy Reagan call Atrios a blogtard?
Either you’re with us, or with the diseases.
Sheesh. First Bitch?
I guess that makes me an idiot.
Maybe we should finance the plan with a 35% tax on all trusts with a value over $50M, and see how many of THK’s friends suddenly become idiots…
I hope kerry wins simply because of the great entertainment value of his wife. A first lady who speaks her mind – apparently without much self censorship? What could be more fun – at least in politics?
Has anyone thought of scheduling a nude ketchup-rasslin’ match for Teresa and Laura?
Debate hell!
When courting swing voters who may or may not agree with you on every issue, like say, healthcare, for example, it’s better not to call people who disagree with you on a single issue idiots.
Say I’m undecided, but the one thing I know for sure is that I don’t like Kerry’s healthcare plan–and now Kerry’s wife is calling me an idiot. I wonder who I’m going to vote for…
She does realize that, with her millions, she’s as free as she wants to be to provide health care or health insurance for as many people as she can afford, right?
And just where does the government derive the Constitutional authority to provide health care or health insurance, anyway?
THK is, of course, Leona Helmsley with ketchup packets in her purse, but it is refreshing that I haven’t heard any whining over her continued use of her pre-Kerry name.
Theresa’s never killed anybody – unlike another first lady we know.
The think with THK is, she’s SO off the reservation, SO amateurish, that her juvenile gaffes don’t rebound on the Kerry campaign, because she’s so clearly speaking from her well-meaning heart, and not at the behest of the campaign squad.
Chuck, NOW yer talkin’!
Yeah, THK knows the common man. He works on her yard. She cleans her toilet. THEY surely don’t see her as some rich bitch. I mean witch.
Nothing scare me more, Joe, than good intentions.
Content of their wallets???? John Kerry in last years IRS form contributed less than $2,000 on an income of over $180,000. Now who can say he does not care? He gave a little over 1% to his church, charities and others. What a guy!

….responsibility to provide for the health, education and welfare of its citizens….
Gadfly, we’re libertarians. We not only don’t recognize any responsibility of the government to do these things, we think its involvement in them is pernicious.
Kevin
Gadfly, you moronic, leftist puke.
I have more respect for the urine that will be draining out of my soon-to-be-shriveled-up penis soon due to my downing of a fifth of vodka than for your commie talking points!!
Go out and buy your own health insurance you government-tit sucking piece of crap!!!
Idiot.
