Mexican Drug War Violence Still Getting Worse
The horrible situation in Juarez and across Mexico detailed in my November 2009 Reason interview with sociologist Howard Campbell is getting still worse so far in 2010, as per the Drug War Chronicle. That report, filled with gruesome details, was dated a week ago, on Feb. 26. It lists 1,401 deaths year to date, and the numbers are obviously getting bigger weekly and even daily. That is 18 percent of the 2009 total, although we have only seen as of that date 15 percent of the year gone by.

Boy this makes me want to open the immigration gates and Mexicanilize our nation, how about you?
I means surely a dramatic increase in the number of Mexican-Americans in this nation will have some effect on our culture, politics, etc. Effects don't run just one way. And since I vastly prefer the US over Mexico in those areas I think that means a net loss if it occurs.

7,000 people were murdered by the cartels last year because we kept marijuana illegal. This year they're on track to kill at least 9,000. Who supports keeping it illegal?

Pish posh! It's just seasonal variations. When summer hits nobody will want to go outside and the violence will drop. As my wife says:
"We've got to enjoy the good weather while we can!"
So, the cartels are doing just that. Can you blame them?
