Oakland Council Limits Seating to Quell Police Protests

The Oakland City Council is limiting seating at its meetings after protests over the fatal police shooting of an 18-year-old high school student forced the council to adjourn early last month.

The new rules were in place for the first time at Tuesday's council meeting. Hundreds of people who came to demonstrate against the May shooting of Alan Blueford were locked out of the council chambers and shouted to be let in.
