I will be giving multiple talks in these two countries, in December.

This December, I will be doing multiple speaking engagements in Mexico and Israel. In the latter country, I will be serving as a visiting professor at the law faculty at Uriel Reichman University (the former IDC Herzliya). Unless otherwise noted, these events are open to the public.

So speaking in two countries you hold more loyalty to than the US, not shocking. There to advocate for more US government handouts or illegal immigration to the US?
He's not going to date you, you know. I'd just give up on trying to get his attention, you'll be happier that way.
You attack me but didn't say I was wrong.
I'll say it then: you are wrong.
I have little respect for Ilya's TDS and how it warps especially his obsession with open borders. But to accuse him of basically treason?
You are off your rocker.
It's the kind of thing that really gets me about this place sometimes. You can't just have normal disagreements about immigration policy or free speech or whatever.
No, disagreement is evidence that you're a racist (if you want stricter immigration policy). Or that you only want more immigration because you hate America and want to destroy it.
For a website called Reason, there sure are a lot of... unreasonable people here.
Ilya advocates to improve the circumstances of Mexico and the rest of the world by importing then to the US without regard to the impact on US citizens where they are dumped on the welfare state but he NEVER advocates for removing the welfare state. For Israel he advocates the opposite for reasons he denies as legitimate for US policy while additionally demanding infinite government money be funnelled to Israel. He does not have America's interests at heart for ideological purposes but that is a far cry from treason but apparently hyperbole is the only way you can make a case.
You notice Ilya's open borders schtick is not on the agenda in Israel. Go figure!
I was wondering about that myself! Imagine all the economic and diversity benefits if millions of military-aged Muslim men could move to Tel Aviv on a whim. It really would be a shame to deprive Israel of what Ilya wants so badly for the USA.
Yes, some here argue that Somin is consistently Libertarian, but clearly not. He wants to destroy USA, and preserve Israel.
Came here to say the same thing.
I guess in "Free to Move: Foot Voting, Migration, and Political Freedom" where he addresses ways in which foot voting through international migration enhances political freedom and that the potential benefits are greater than those of any other type of foot voting just doesn't apply to Israel because . . . I dunno . . . God?
Why isn't there a session on emergency powers or organ markets in Mexico?
It's not really surprising that Mexico would have multiple (not just him) people talking about immigration. It's a major issue between the two neighboring countries.
Somin is free to speak when he wants, to any group he chooses. I am still confused what value these topics are to non-Americans. Especially the voting with the feet nonsense, as his views on immigration are rather crackpot and do not conform to current law and precedent. Mexico has been a problem, and rarely the solution. Except to the extent they agreed to cooperate with first Trump administration Remain in Mexico policy, which Somin obviously opposed.
The "Political Ignorance" is just more of him being unwilling to fairly engage with others he disagrees with. Pretending he cannot understand how anyone could possibly oppose his policy preferences.
Hannukah in Israel ... sounds like fun! Alas, my travels won't intersect with yours.
