"North Texas Man Who Threatened to Shoot and Kill ICE Agents Charged in Federal Court"

From Monday's Justice Department press release:

A North Texas man who threatened to shoot and kill ICE agents was arrested and charged in federal court …. Robert Wilson King, 35, was charged on April 3, 2025, via criminal complaint with transmitting an interstate threat….

According to the complaint, on March 29, 2025, King allegedly posted a threat on a social media platform, stating, "If I see ICE agents in my neighborhood I'm opening fire. It's time to stop being p****** [expurgation in original -EV] and put the second amendment to work. ICE are not real cops, they are a secret police force with no real legal authority. Kill them."

Later, King allegedly posted on another social media platform that he wanted to "double down" on his threat to shoot and kill ICE agents.

The complaint, filed in case no. 3:25-mj-00324, details other instances of King's alleged violent rhetoric this year. A criminal complaint is merely an allegation of criminal conduct, not evidence. Like all defendants, Mr. King is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law….

The other posts quoted in the complaint are of the form "[Prominent conservative] should be tried for treason and shot by a firing squad." Violent imagery not including a threat by the poster to cause harm.

I am much more tolerant of this sort of chest-thumping than the average juror. I would vote not guilty. I expect the government will get a conviction.

I noted that was the concern du jour, too.

In Guardians of the Galaxy 2, there's a subtle scene during Yondu's redemption arc, where in the background and set to music, he's standing with a bunch of highly mechanical fembots with lots of neon, and in slo mo he's finishing inserting the end of his belt in a loop. Clearly he's done visiting a robo-brothel.

But that has all kinds of bad cachet, abuse of women, trafficking women maybe, and at the least, taking advantage of women in financially difficult straits, kept there by sexism, such that they need to sell their bodies to make a living 'cause men won't let 'em do anything much better.

So robots it is, subtle it is, miss it and you miss it. He's being redeemed, yo!

But it's a redemption arc, so that's a no no. Meanwhile he murders a hundred of his own men for attempting a coup, in a funny musical super-arrow montage.

Certain things are much more problematic than others, depending on fears of howling cancel culture. Boy, and I remember feeling a bit uncomfortable at the redemption of Darth "helped explode a planet" Vader. But at least he wasn't a sexist refusing male padawans or visiting a brothel in some random hive of scum and villainy.

One of the last Dr Who episodes I watched had David Tenant conspicuously refusing to touch a firearm because it was icky, complete with speechifying on how icky guns are, then blowing up a planet, or letting someone else blow it up ... I forget the details. I remember the comparison, that destroying an entire planet or at least millions or billions of people was an acceptable consequence of being woke and refusing to use a gun to personally threaten a bad guy. I remember backing up and playing it several times to be sure it really was that stupid.
