The American Revolution, yet another, dumbass lawyer, catastrophic mistake. This profession makes people stupid, amoral, and totally toxic to our nation.
The tax doubled from 1% of GDP to 2%. Why? To pay for expensive military campaigns against the Indians to protect the lands of the dumbass, rich lawyer landowners. So let's go crazy and start a war to kill 1000's of people.
Win this war, and cause the Civil War, you vile, toxic, lawyer dumbass. That one kills 600000, like 2 million today.
Had we remained a colony, we would be like Canada. Slavery would have ended in 1833, by law, enforced by a sheriff, not by industrial grade butchery. Race relations would have been settled in the 19th Century. We would have a Parliament. We would be much less extreme, and less crazy.
The reason the UK was able to abolish the slave trade in 1807 (and abolish slavery entirely in 1833) was because they no longer relied on slavery economically. Not directly that is, they still benefitted greatly from slavery in the US (look up the Triangle Trade)
As such, had we remained a colony the benefit would have been direct rather than indirect, and the UK either would not have abolished slavery when they did, or would have exempted the southern colonies in order to continue to reap the benefits of slave labor
Or the southern colonies would have tried to secede and would have lost since the northern, British colonies in this scenario, along with Britain would have beat the shit out of them.
Either way (this scenario or the Civil War), the result would have been the same.
"Had we remained a colony, we would be like Canada."
Good enough reason for a revolution right there.
Is there any metric by which US > Canada?
https://www.mylifeelsewhere.com/compare/united-states/canada
All of them.
For instance, Canada per capita GDP is $43,242, US is $63,544.
Lowest per capita GDP among states:
Mississippi
Arkansas
West Virginia
Idaho
Alabama
South Carolina
Kentucky
Montana
Utah
New Mexico
Highest per capita GDP:
New York
Massachusetts
Connecticut
California
Washington
Delaware
Alaska
North Dakota
New Jersey
Maryland
Illinois
Hawaii
Colorado
Is that a standard of measure a conservative should voluntarily use, Bob from Ohio?
Hi, Boomer. What a dumb list. It does not say this. If you make a $billion in NY, you live like an animal. If you make $100000 in Mississippi, you live like a king, No Democrat constituents pooping outside you $50 million townhouse. Life in those Democrat shitholes is unlivable.
Sure: we don't use metric.
There's not a gram of truth in your comment.
No metric, but much freer speech in the US (so far) than in Canada is an important distinction in favor of the US.
You mean, apart from the fact that Canada is a nothingburger country?
Yes, like Britain, they are way more cucked up than the US. I've been watching Viva Frei's podcasts with Robert Barnes, and a few more, and it's bad. No travel between provinces w/o permission, proof of vaccination required by the state to get into bowling alleys, kangaroo corts for misgendering already years ago, gag orders that require you to deliver the government take on your opinions before you can express your own....
Bonkers Behar Bloviates.
Riveted Reasonites Respond.
I take a minute to laugh at crazy homeless people all the time, but I wouldn't say I'm riveted.
You just enjoy some bonkers bloviations. Its okay, I do as well.
Do you have any remark about the American Revolution other than puerile, 4th grade rhetoric?
Queenie is delusional, impregnable to any argument. It also doesn't know any law. How about you?
Arguing with a turtle is crazy. Almost Behar crazy.
Thank you, Queenie, you dear, dear scary clown, for being the only actually stupid enough to reply to me. Without you, I would be so lonely here. Bless you.
The War of Northern Aggression killed a lot larger fraction of the population than 2M is today, even w/o allowing for the fact that 600k understates the deaths.
And it wasn't landowners, but land speculators (like GW) that were hot to displace the Savages.
Racist person says what?
And? Did they vote for lower taxes?
