No Discrimination Based on "Political Alienation"
From the Verona (Wisc.) Code of Ordinances (second emphasis added), which bans such discrimination in employment and in places of public accommodation:
Discriminate, discrimination or discriminatory shall mean any act, policy, advertisement or practice which, regardless of intent, has the effect of subjecting any person to differential treatment as a result of that person's actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex/gender, disability, arrest/conviction record, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression, political alienation, results of genetic testing, honesty testing, pregnancy or childbirth, military service, disabled veteran or covered veteran status, service in the U.S. Armed Force, the State Defense force, National Guard or any state, or reserve component of the United States or State Military Forces, or any other protected class characteristics under state or federal law. Discrimination also includes any differential treatment because of one's association with a person or group of people identified herein.
(I assume they meant "political affiliation," like in some other jurisdictions.)

"I assume they meant "political affiliation," like in some other jurisdictions."
Do you know what happens when you assume?

Yup.
In your case, you post silly rejoinders at reason.com
Dumb, greedy politicians can't even write a simple law without screwing it up.
If they could, they would just be greedy politicians instead of dumb, greedy politicians.
No wonder people feel so alienated from politics!
"You can discriminate against Republicans, but not people who have been kicked out of the Republican Party"
Perhaps it intends to protect cancel culture operatives, who politically alienate people, from themselves being fired.
Well, does discrimination based on a "person's ... political alienation" ban discrimination against people who politically alienate others, or against people who are themselves politically alienated?
Prof, do you think they really meant alienation rather than affiliation?
What happens when the text of a law contains a typo which could materially affect application? Could a court decide that alienation really meant affiliation? Could a court decide that does means does not when the context is compelling?
I interpreted "political alienation" to mean "people who are tired of political drama".
I'm even more interested in what them mean by prohibiting discrimination on the basis of "honest testing".
Excuse me, "honesty testing". Sticky key...
Yes, I was curious about that one too. I've never run across that phrase in anti-discrimination ordinances.
It appears to be a personality test that some businesses use. https://www.mbaskool.com/business-concepts/human-resources-hr-terms/15265-honesty-tests.html
