The portrait painter could have done better with Justice Iredell's hands, which look effeminate. Sometimes a portrait painter will take a poke at the subject, such as that one we studied in torts.

He was commissioned to paint a portrait of a well-known NY subject who refused to pay for it. The subject did not like the portrait. So the artist painted a set of ass's ears on the portrait and placed it in front of his studio for the public to see. The courts found that this was libel. I am sure you know the case.

All of which reminds me of the case of the Peruvian mummies discovered in a cave near the Nazka lines by a tomb raider.

They look very real to me, although so many scientists have scoffed at them as fakes. The mummies each have only 3 fingers and 3 toes. The skulls bear large eye sockets and ample spaces for human, or humanoid, brains. And now the DNA tests have indicated that these are humanoids unlike any in the literature of mummified remains.
