Do you meet the Constitutional Requirements for posting a comment? If not, perhaps your comment is not a comment at all. We await Constitutional Content Evaluator Eastman, self-described, for comment. Assuming this is a comment.
This has been a test of the emergency posting system. If this had been an actual emergency, you would have been instructed where to tune in your area for news and official information.
You forgot to tell us what you attest!
You still need a test? I'd have thought you qualify for diploma privilege.
Is the test yet concluded? We need an announcement resuming all commenting. If testing was easy then everyone might do it. Admiral Rickover called us testers his “evil necessities.”. High praise.
Segueing to Rickover; Rickover wrote this on Responsibility - Americans should take it to heart.
Responsibility is an unique concept. You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you. If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible.
Great quote. I love it. It is so true, and quintessentially....American.
Rickover's quote is a riff on Jefferson's "He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me", I think.
Eugene, I hate to have to be the one to tell you this, but this is not the first time there have been posts here that had no content. Were all of those tests too?
If he wants to be as prolific as Josh he has to try harder than this.
This comment intentionally left blank.
I tried to submit an actually blank comment. The system was too smart for spaces and carriage returns.
But you can do an ampersand-nbsp!
In dead tree books you will often see an otherwise blank page with the text "This page intentionally left blank." My comment was a play on that.
Less often books (although occasionally). Much more frequently on legal forms and government documents. But yes, I have seen these things.
