What a lot of people forget -- in the raw milk debate and elsewhere -- is that dairy products killed a lot of people a century ago -- and that this filled milk was safer because it had been cooked, and if the can didn't explode (or bulge out), there were no bacteria in the milk.
Reminds me of my old Con Law days. I had Louis Lusky as my professor, who had clerked for Justice Stone & Lusky helped draft the Carolene Products footnote. He was a gentleman from the South & the only time I remember him being mad in class was when someone referred to the Carolina Products case.
