"It's not a small world, it's a small bourgeois clique"
Whenever someone says "it's a small world" or some such, I respond with something I heard from a former boss:
It's not a small world, it's a small bourgeois clique.
Maybe it's just me, but I think that's a really cool phrase (which I just used twice today, so that reminded me to blog about it). I once tracked down the person who is its apparent originator - Deborah Chinn - and I'd thought I'd pass along both the phrase and the credit.
