'As one who has already attained and not yet passed perfection'
Now that I'm 49 years old, I am pleased to pass along this passage from Macrobius's Commentary on Cicero's "Dream of Scipio" (William H. Stahl trans. 1952):
[T]he number seven multiplied by itself produces the age which is properly considered and called perfect, so that a man of this age, as one who has already attained and not yet passed perfection, is considered ripe in wisdom and not unfit for the exercise of his physical powers.
Nice to know!
