Upcoming talks in New York and D.C.

In the next few weeks I'll be giving a pair of talks each in New York and Washington that may be of interest to VC readers. The topics and events are as follows.

Chevron: On the evening of Feb. 21, I'll be participating in a panel, "The End of Judicial Deference to the Administrative State: Is It Time to Overturn Chevron?" sponsored by the New York City Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society. Other panelists include Professor Philip Hamburger of Columbia, Iain Murray of the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Judge Dennis Jacobs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. I plan to speak about how Chevron can and should be restrained (but not overruled).

FDA Regulation: On Feb. 22, I'll be presenting a paper on how Food and Drug Administration regulation of tobacco products inhibits harm reduction and potentially life-saving product innovation at a conference on "Medical Innovation and the Law," sponsored by the Classical Liberal Institute at the New York University School of Law. Other presenters include Jeffrey Flier, David Hyman, Henry I. Miller, Jordan Paradise, Max Raskin, William Sage, Christopher Robertson and Victor Laurion.

Regulatory Reform: On the morning of March 2, I'll speak on a panel discussing various regulatory reform proposals, including the Reins Act, at a Capitol Hill conference on "The Time for Regulatory Reform," sponsored by the Antonin Scalia Law School's Center for the Study of the Administrative State. Other speakers include Richard Pierce, Adam White, Jonathan Siegel, Kristin Hickman, Neomi Rao and Sen. Mike Lee. My remarks will focus on the Reins Act.

Business and the Roberts Court: On the afternoon of March 2, I'll be speaking on my book "Business and the Roberts Court" at a Cato Institute Book Forum. Andrew Pincus of Mayer Brown will provide commentary.
