Major Tom has gone home
Like many, I woke up to the news that David Bowie is dead. He succumbed to cancer at 69.
Here is the Post obituary and coverage from NME, Rolling Stone and Spin.
He knew he was dying, but it was something the rest of us would not want to believe.
I was only fortunate enough to see Bowie perform live twice, but they were two memorable shows. When he toured with Nine Inch Nails, some young dudes thought Bowie was covering a Nirvana song. They did not realize they were in the presence of an icon.
My Bowie CDs will go into heavy rotation today. There are not enough hours in the day to listen to them all, and we'll never get to hear what was still to come. NME has a list of his 40 greatest songs.
He will be missed.
