Washington center Evgeny Kuznetsov (92), right, celebrates with his teammates after scoring the game winning goal as the Washington Capitals defeat the New York Islanders 2—1 in game 7 to win the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup eastern division playoffs at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on April 27, 2015. "Evgeny means necessary!" was an odd exclamation in the play-by-play announcing of Evgeny Kuznetsov's game-winning goal in Monday night's Washington Capitals-New York Islanders game. Since I'm Evgeny, though, I'm fine with that. (Actually, Kuznetsov's and my Russian names are pronounced "Yevgeniy," but "Evgeny" is a not uncommon transliteration.) Actually, the Greek original means "noble," from "eu-" (good) and "genes" (birth), so Evgeny Kutznetsov put together means, more or less, "noble descendant of a smith." But I'll take "necessary" instead.
