Mike Rowe: The Missing 7.2 Million Male Workers
The Dirty Jobs host is freaked out by the number of men who have dropped out of the workplace.

Today's guest is Mike Rowe, the bestselling author, Emmy winner, and podcaster best known for his stint hosting The Discovery Channel's long-running Dirty Jobs, where he performed the sort of work we all rely on but don't want to think about too much.
From cleaning septic tanks to putting hot tar on roofs to disposing of medical waste, he's done it all—and loves to talk about the value of the hard, honest work that he thinks is devalued by a society fixated on sending everyone to college. I caught up with Rowe at FreedomFest, an annual gathering held this year in Memphis.
We talked about how his mikeroweWORKS Foundation matches young people interested in learning trades with employers dying for applicants, why men continue to fall further behind women in school and work, and how Rowe's booze brand Knobel Spirits, named after his maternal grandfather, is fueling his nonprofit's impact.

I think the missing 7.2 million male workers realized during the unconstitutional and totally unjustified pandemic lockdowns that they didn't need government's permission to work any more. I think they're still hard at work doing the dirty but necessary jobs they've always done but no longer reporting their earnings or pretending that they care what politicians think about it. Of course it would be better to get politicians out of the scene completely, but there is a certain grim satisfaction to be had from sticking it to them without their even realizing that they've had it stuck to them!
You think people are working under the table? Dude. People just aren't working. Help wanted signs are everywhere.
Great article, Mike. I appreciate your work, I’m now creating over $35,200 dollars each month simply by doing a simple job online! I do know You currently making a lot of greenbacks online from $28,200 dollars, its simple online operating jobs.

Just open the link———————————————>>> http://Www.OnlineCash1.Com
I earn 200 dollars per hour working from home on an online job. I never thought I could accomplish it, but my best friend makes $10,000 per month doing this profession and that I learn more about it. . .

Here’s how she did it……………………… https://Www.Coins71.Com
It could be both. That's the thing about "under-the-table" work. Like gun ownership, survey takers will never get the full story.
I'm making $90 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning sixteen thousand US dollars a month by working on the connection, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply. Everybody must try this job now by just using this website... http://www.Payathome7.com
Dude, the two things aren’t mutually exclusive. After being told that you were "nonessential" and finding out just how little value your fellow Americans placed on your contribution to production it might - I don't know - maybe affect your social attitude?
Not only that, but being told you are inherently bad, toxic, and worthless by the new administration it doesn't motivate people to go back to work much. Also consider working couples with kids, they found out after taxes they were working for nothing, so one stayed home, often the man.
Help wanted signs are not under the table jobs.
Yeah, sometimes they are.
I know so many people who took early retirement that I can't count them all. Most were white collar workers and they basically went on strike against the dictatorial bosses who wanted them back in the office five days a week.
We don't really have a capitalist system we have a managerial system. And the managers are screwing everyone.
I have let my employer know that the day I am ordered back into the office full time is the day I submit my retirement papers.
I think that's wishful thinking.
Wonder if any hung up their tool belts for a cozy job at home posting ActBlue talking points in comments sections.
Doesn't pay well. Why shrike had to take on multiple Act Blue accounts to get by.
He's gotta make the 50 cents work more for him so he can afford his van down by the river. That real estate's expensive, man.
Maybe he should become a motivation speaker?
But Putin does. His trolls are all over this and other internet sites.
anyone account for all the transitioning?
Millions of Male Workers Cut
But enough about circumcision...
Circumcision? You mean castration!
Hmmmm...is there a corresponding increase of about 7.2 million "women"?
I doubt it comes anywhere near 7 million.
sic! ergo, haha.
If we get enough men to simply claim they are women, we can skew these numbers off the charts, even fix the "pay gap".
But men, at least the kind that don't go to college, work with tools, and enjoy rowdy play, are toxic. We have just spent the past couple of decades telling these troglodytes to get lost, and Mike wants to bring them back? Sounds like a MAGA freak.
Just think if more men took what I call "The Eric Hoffer Fellowship," studying and writing deep, profound thoughts about history, civilizations, and the psychology of joiners of mass movements...yet working as a Longshoreman or some other skilled profession by trade.
They ain't seen "toxic" or dangerous yet! 🙂
Sure they have and no one is scared of MAGAs.
Well the traditional way for lazy useless young men to get fed has been to knock up as many welfare moms as possible and just crash in their cribs until they get kicked out to make room for the next lazy useless fuck. These days it seems they are too distracted by video games and porn to even make that much effort.
Can you call something that only goes back to the 1960's a tradition?
Teen birth rates were higher in the 1950s.
Maybe they’re going Galt.
Yup. Ayn Rand assumed that the virtuous wealthy (and of course all the wealthy are virtuous) would use their power for good. She had no clue that without the workers the Galts have no power.
Or they are pulling an Andrew Tate with a good solid bottom bitch and a couple of OnlyFans whores.
Or they are waiting for universal basic income to get going while playing Call of Duty.
I realized with massive inflation that I had to spend the money I already had before making more. Every day working is a wasted opportunity to get value from my previous earnings.
7.2 million freed from their menial blue collar jobs so they could pursue high paying tech jobs as a result of the millions gifts of love pouring over our southern border.
MGTOW?
That is a very interesting idea. How many men just said 'forget it' and just walked away. Retired early, faked a disability, or whatever. Maybe living off of a 401k that they cashed out. It would be nice to see a study. If one is available.
I have. Sort of.
I work when I see something worth doing, and otherwise have been taking it easy this year. I mean relative to how I worked most of my life, I've always put in the effort even if I got a bad career break a couple of times.
I'm not faking disability or anything. or cashing in retirement, I'm just living cheap (which is hard these days) and not busting my ass to get ahead because getting ahead became impossible for me. And I lived like a pauper to save for a house, for years, only to watch the government fuck everything up. Again. Everything, including my relatively cheap living with their inflation causing spending.
There's no beautiful second act ahead. There's no retirement to golf and travel. No nice house. There's no future I see worth working extra hard for. So there's right now, at least until some unseen avenue opens up.
Basically, I don't give a shit anymore. Call it partial retirement until I find something worth going all in on. But I'm not stressed about not filling my savings this month, I'll get back to it next month. Or whenever.
I KNOW I can't be the only one.
I'm really sorry to hear that.
What would it take to change your situation, do you think?
"I KNOW I can’t be the only one."
The numbers of alcoholics and drug abusers tell us you're not. The situation reminds me of the plight of males after the dissolution of the USSR. Male life expectancy plunged from 63 years to 57 years over a 3 year period, 1991 to 1994. Recently, American males have also seen declines in male life expectancy.
Well, being in California is part of the problem.
As of 2019, California had the second longest life expectancy, after Hawaii. New York is third. The eight states with the longest life expectancy were blue states and the eight states with the shortest life expectancy were red states.
Maybe if you are 60 to 65, but hard if you are in the 30-55 range, which would be middle age. That is a long time to go without income and live off savings for the average worker, let alone a low income worker.
I retired the year before the pandemic, but would have retired right now if I had been working. I would have never put up with the bullshit of wearing a mask 12 hours a day at work or getting their experimental vaccine if I didn’t have too.
And I had to wear masks at work for specific tasks and was qualified up to and used a SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus), so I know what they do and don’t do.
Well, I do think we need to ask ourselves how many of the 7.2 million “missing” male workers are really “missing”. Part of the sexual revolution which made it acceptable for women to have occupations outside of the household, also made it acceptable for men NOT to have occupations outside of the household. They are two sides of the same coin. While I’m certain some, perhaps even most, of those 7.2 million really are men who want to work and are prevented from doing so for some reason, there’s probably a bunch who don’t want to work because in that household the woman (or another man) is the primary breadwinner and that’s fine too.
Especially if they have kids. They found out one person was working for paying child care, so actually nothing. Another could be the woke schools indoctrination, maybe some fathers stayed home to home school, especially if they have sons.
I have to think most of them are either supported by their wife, girlfriend, or parents (or grandparents).
I work at Walmart and I have known multiple guys who have quit to live off their wife's salary. I know a couple of women who did the opposite, worked at Walmart and supported their husband (or boyfriend) (no idea how, though one is a department manager making $25 an hour)
A whole bunch of co-workers, heck even the bulk of them under 30 still live with their parents.
And while I'm only on the floor half the time (other half I unload the truck(s)) I do see a whole of people adult children with their elderly parents and it's clear that the parent is supporting them
It's women.
Many men are no longer incentivized by women. Fat, blue hair, tattoos, attitude, vacuous spendthrift. Take your pick. And the men most likely to do dirty jobs have seen the expectations of the women in their league inflate, while the women offer less and less.
Once a man checks out of that, their need to work can be minimal because most men can get by on the smell of an oily rag.
I'd suggest you've got two groups: young men who'll never substantively work and have already given up, and middle aged guys who learned their lesson, but resolved to accumulate enough assets to check out in their 40's and early 50's.
Wow. Bitter, Party of One... I bet you were turned down one too many times at the bar, eh? Maybe it's time to update your pickup lines from the mid -70s ones you're still using.
Maybe it's that men who used to be distracted from death had a life. Kids, wife, neighborhood, church. Now they have Biden, the world's stupidest VP, a hideously misadministered months of Covid and then comes the Nobel Prize DEATHS OF DESPAIR.
"the fastest rising death rates among Americans were from drug overdoses, suicide, and alcoholic liver disease. Deaths from these causes have increased between 56% and 387%, depending on the age cohort, over the past two decades, averaging 70,000 per year.
Case and Deaton learned that these deaths disproportionately occurred in white men who had not earned college degrees. In their 2020 book, “Deaths of Despair and the Future of Capitalism,” they argued that a key driver of these deaths is economic misery."
The military has always been the last resort for men who are uneducated, lazy, misfits. America's armed services are suffering from their worst recruiting shortfalls in 50 years.
The recruiting shortfall is because Biden has given the US the lowest peacetime unemployment in history. The military doesn't pay competitive salaries.

As an electrical contractor who had worked to attain my company the hard way.(actual work with OJT) I learned my trade by starting at the bottom.
After graduating High school at 17 I joined the Navy with the advice of an older brother and the fact that the only gift I received from my parents was a handshake and some good advice. I learned electronics when they were still teaching vacuum tube theories. Upon my exit from the Navy, I found no employment.
This is when I found that a woman with a third great education had more smarts than many college-educated men. She taught me how to start and run my first business. I went from having no money to buying my first new car in two years.
Having opportunities open up that gave me the chance to change direction and still stay within my trade of choice I started a job in wiring machine tools. it paid well and gave me the training I needed.
To shorten the events I wound up as plant manager of a company that built machine tools. this gave me the opportunity to study and take the tests I needed to acquire a license and start my business.
This is where all that my mother taught me about running a company was used. Again skip ahead. My company grew and needed to hire people. I found that many like myself had to use work as training.
Again skip ahead. As I once again needed to hire a man I was interviewing a young man fresh out of high school. He seemed willing to work so I would take the chance. Now comes the problem. He couldn't fill out the job application form. He couldn't read or write. He convinced me that if I would give him a job he would work hard. He proved reliable and skilled. able to do anything we showed him how to do.
My wife taught him to read and write within a month. We then put him in the apprenticeship program that was available for Minorities. yes, he is black. The point of this story is that the system failed him. handing him a diploma he couldn't read.
Today as I am now retired, I sold him the business. He continues to run successfully. The man was far from stupid. What happened was lazy people that did him a great disservice.
These events happen every day as the government believes that they are a better parent than you. Where have we gone wrong? The need to have two incomes to support a household. The time needed to be involved in what schools were teaching was gone. Not everyone can get a job in an air-conditioned office.
The government stepping in again. offering "low-cost loans" to be paid back with the high pay you get that was promised with the degree you had in the liberal underwater basket weaving. The truth was that having a document stating you have a degree, wasn't worth anything.
All your friends that had to get jobs in the car companies or labor, now had homes and families while you struggled to pay back the loans you racked up for the worthless paper.
It turns out to be the most costly ongoing party you attended. I am a millionaire with only a high school education and training I received in the Navy.
I hired college kids that always thought that they should start at the top.
Governments interfering in business continued. Minorities were told that if they were not hired as management that it was racist and they could sue the companies if they didn't hire or promote them over a white man or woman.
The government needs victims to validate their existence. Today it is now DIVERSITY that is the center of attention.
The gov. has created the idea that it is only they who can provide for minorities or women, ( to be determined as preference is attained) to "level the playing field. This only undermines the idea that anyone hired under the DIVERSITY standards is not equal or can only do a job with government help.
I apologize for my lengthy post. With my poor skills that I never acquired without college, I must end this post or you may die from boredom. I thank all who made it all the way through to make the point that it is a government that fails us.------- I, Grampa
Big miss on the analysis of remote work.
Kevin O’Leary and others often conflate where people work with when people work.
It’s entirely possible to work a full-time, regular workday schedule — for years — without ever coming into an office.
Simply working remotely isn’t an agreement to take calls from your CEO at 2:00 in the morning, or while you’re on vacation.
If they can wait for someone working an office to answer their questions, they can wait for someone working from home.
Love it. Just remember: the answer to stupid dualism (binaries), is not monism, but pluralism. It's not 2, it's not 1, it's a larger number than engulfs, and lowers the temperature, of the 1 or 2.
But that is an even stupider epistemological blunder: There can be no one or two becaue that would make LarryC look bad.
IF you had given up the Intro to Marxist Sculpturing course to take history you would recall that famous quote
Sirach 42:24-25
Good News Translation
24 All things are in pairs, each the opposite of the other,
but nothing the Lord made is incomplete.
25 Everything completes the goodness of something else.
Could anyone ever see enough of this splendor?
Thanks for laying on more shame and guilt, Discovery Channel, Mike Rowe. Where to begin…
1. A government that only panders to Israel and their Kin. 2. A government that only cares about filling this country up with migrants (legal/illegal, I’ve grown to not see a difference after reading “March of the Titans” and “The Fall of Empires”). See Kalergi Plan. 3. Being told it is toxic to just exist as a man without being an absolute f*gg*t. Women are too obsessed with invading men’s spaces to prove they’re “equal” and doing a subpar job that needs to be handicapped for them to even be considered remotely competent. We already have a matriarchy, men are beyond cucked. 4. Economy has been completely plundered by politicians that all seem to have dual citizenship. 5. Being blamed for slavery (exclusively a Jewish enterprise if you do research). The affected crowd lacks the cognitive ability (on average, “The Bell Curve”) to discern the difference. 6. Discovering all wars in the past century were to assist central bankers consolidate power. Military men are banker mercenaries, America has never been under attack. We defeated the wrong enemy in WW2, I agree with Patton.
Modern slavery doesn’t require chains and cages, it just requires a bill at the end of every month. The taxes (mafia shakedown) are taken out before that money even hits your hand. This country has been gutted, no voting will fix it, no TV celebrity that takes photos in overalls is going to convince me otherwise. So PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF YHWH DEMIURGE HELLSCAPE GOD, keep taking as many of those “safe and effective” mRNA (definitely not gene therapy clownemoji.jpg) vaccines so we can turbo cancer you r*t*rds off the face of this Earth. All white men need to check out of society and form an army because we are in the midst of a white genocide. Take a big step back and realize all these “climate sanctions” are only being imposed on white western nations while we are flooded with brown subhumans, if they were so great and “valuable” shouldn’t they improve the conditions of their own shit countries, we are not equal, sorry.
Enjoy the Decline, I will only work to accelerate the destruction of Boomer Disneyland. Absolute Sabotage, I have no loyalty to an older generation that sold us out because they were too scared to be called racists or misogynist. Am I supposed to settle for a wh*re that f*cked through her 20s and now wants to settle down because the Sr. Human Resources gig is getting old? Only to have children that will be convinced they should sterilize themselves and play pretend as the other sex until they eventually kill themselves thanks to a "very tolerant" public education? The only payment I will accept now is the blood of my foes, in minecraft of course.
So:
In a sober discussion regarding blue collar jobs and the opportunities that they provide for feeding a family and forming an identity and realizing one's dreams, Gillespie refers to factory jobs and manual labor jobs as "horrible". Nick, buddy, your prejudices are showing. You even tried to portray your sissy job writing articles for a teen magazine as a legit "dirty job". You missed the entire point and you are a pathetic twit who is obviously part of the problem.
I don't believe that they exist. For years some people held down two or more jobs, now with the demand for workers and increased wages they only need one. I don't think that Government statistics allow for this. Say you have a guy working at Walmart in the day and delivering pizzas in the evening. He quits both jobs in favor of a manufacturing job that pays enough that he doesn't need two jobs. In government statistics that leaves two jobs open and one filled. Enough people do that it can easily skew the numbers.
Except you need the help at Walmart and the pizza shop to disappear. THEY DO NOT DISAPPEAR. Think
The Coast Guard motto is Semper Paratus. Always Ready. Always Prepared.
See the psychology here ? Those who won't admit Biden is a lazy, stupid lifelong loser, they have reasons why this is a good thing. And those who didn't vote for Joe because he is moron don't see anything to explain in his moronic effects on American life.
The intersection of those males with the Deaths of Despair gives the key., ANd it points to Biden all the way.
" rising rates of deaths among white Americans shared a common cause: rising despair and unemployment in areas such as the Rust Belt."
I see every week billions spent on trees and endangered gulls and offshore windmills. But people...NOTHING
the Biden administration and the U.S. Congress have directed more than $75 billion in assistance to Ukraine--- when Biden addressed FINALLY the fires in Hawaii, he offered victims of total house loss and deaths in the family :
