Bridget Phetasy: Why I Left California for Texas
The wildly popular podcaster is still "politically homeless" but says leaving California and having a kid have improved her life immensely.

Today's guest is the immensely popular podcaster and writer Bridget Phetasy, who recently packed up her family and left Los Angeles for Texas in search of affordable living, lower crime, and quieter evenings—all within an easy drive to Joe Rogan's Comedy Mothership club in Austin, where she sometimes performs.
Leaving the hustle-heavy entertainment capital of the world hasn't dulled her edge, though. "What stupid fucking times we live in," reads a signature tweet (she's a must-follow on that platform). In recent columns for The Spectator, she talks frankly about how she "learned to stop worrying and love the 'burbs," when she realized she needed to leave California, and talks with members of the LGBTQ+ community about "why Pride lost the public."
We talk about all that, especially what motivated her and her husband to choose Texas over California, and why she remains "politically homeless" despite just moving to a red state. At one point in our conversation, she says that living in a blue area surrounded by red voters might be the best of all possible worlds. She also explains why she's done with Joe Biden and Donald Trump but muses over the circumstances under which she might just vote for conservative Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Within hours of our talking, she messaged me with a link to a terrible DeSantis campaign attack video accusing Donald Trump of being too trans-friendly and touting the Florida governor's bona fides on shutting down gay-friendly activities in the Sunshine State. "I knew I never should have said that I'd vote for him," she wrote, with a laugh/cry emoji. "Puke can we rerecord."

I think Phetasy got over her abortion-til-moment-of-birth fantasies a while back.
And since were clearly in the hyperbole game, for people staying in California, good luck not being locked in your home, tied to a gurney and forcibly given multiple experimental vaccines while homeless zombie meth addicts crawl through your windows.
That is hyperbole?
"asserting your reproductive rights"
Pretty sure abortion is the opposite of reproductive, so why the euphemism?
Euphemisms are the fascist's camouflage.
As far as I can tell, Texans are reproducing.
if Bridget moved to Austin she did not move to Texas.

I really don't see what people see in this woman. I have never heard her say an interesting or particularly smart thing.
I’ve never heard her say anything.
Same here. But from the quotes in this article, I don't think we've missed anything.
I listened to her once. Meh.
Would have been interesting to have ENB interview her about this.
That's her? 60K subscribers is "immensely popular?"
Anyway, can I assume the title is correct?
Not going to listen, if I click that play button youtube's algorithms will punish me by showing her and people like her constantly on the recommended page forever and always.
David Smith is not imensly popular, but then again he's libritarian so reason hates him
"Whenever a man wanted to pick up the tab or pull out the chair or open the door or pick me up or take me to dinner or see me during the day or wait longer than the first date to have sex, I was shocked and suspicious of them. Was he a serial killer?"
That's...interesting.
Well, I can't say I read the whole thing, but maybe I got the most interesting part.
"60K subscribers is “immensely popular?”
There are guys on Youtube with way over a million subscribers who do nothing but decorate fish tanks, run a small animal rescue or talk about population genetics.
They don’t have vaginas .
Well, neither does Dylan Mulvaney.
Red states need to keep all "centrists" and Reason style libertarians the fuck out.
I just love that all these leftists are saying they won’t do business with conservatives anymore, ok, your terms are acceptable.
Progressives get the government they want then hate the government they got with yearning to relocate someplace better so they can fuck that up too.

I've never heard of her before, but I agree that I don't want to vote for Trump , DeSantis, nor Biden.
Can we please have a decent alternate choice ? Maybe someone who isn't going to run the country further into the ground.
Who do you suggest?
Biden is a no-go, Trump is acceptable from a "policy perspective" but he is so polarizing that he might push the country back into the arms of the Biden criminals.
I like DeSantis. Based on his results in Florida it is clear that he won't run the country into the ground.
I am willing to consider a Democrat but it seems they have all decided to "hate whitey" as their reason to live. Considering that I practically glow in the dark, Democrats make me nervous.
For sound economic perspective go to https://honesteconomics.substack.com/
The real problem is that those leaving have been indoctrinated by "coastal politics". They hate what the coastal areas have become but in fact WERE and Are the voters that caused the problems to begin with.
They might leave but the problem is that they BRING THEMSELVES and their past voting history and beliefs with them. They will do more harm than good.
Because the US Constitution does not make voting a Constitutional RIGHT, each conservative state needs to enact a clause the does not give full citizenship rights that include voting rights to any one for at least 3 to 7 years after they move to that state. This is not disenfranchisement at all in any way. It is to assure that they fully understand and become somewhat integrated into the society BEFORE they initiate changes.

This is why minimum residency requirements to collect welfare benefits was struck down. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shapiro_v._Thompson
I was an 8th grade proto-wonk when Shapiro was decided, so this used to be currntb events to me, not history. The same logic was applied to residency requirements for voting: they can’tbe more than a month. See: DUNN v. BLUMSTEIN, 405 U.S. 330 (1972)
https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/us-supreme-court/405/330.html
When that came out I was a high school debater, WFB Jr fan, and full-on Nixon Youth.
Might the current group of Justices reverse these cases? Possibly, but good luck getting test cases onto the docket.
IANAL, but I did take a course apiece on the Constitution from my university’s PoliSci and History departments. [I was a double-major.] I don’t understand why some folks advocate passing laws that are prima facie unconstitutional, if they don’t make the caveat that this is what they are doing, and either a long court battle or an amendment may be needed to enact those.
I am currently earning more than $15,000 per month through online work. After repeatedly hearing about individuals who were able to generate substantial income online, I became intrigued and decided to explore the possibilities. Fortunately, I came across something that completely transformed my life. After dedicating two months to research and effort, I received a paycheck last month totaling $15,376 for just a few hours of work on my laptop each week. I was astonished by how straightforward the process was once I gave it a try.
She doesn’t like what her voting has done for her in her blue state so she’ll move to a red state and keep voting blue… slowly destroying the red state she moved to. It’s almost like elections have consequences… ???? Make it make sense.
