Have We Crossed the Threshold of Doom?
The Reason Roundtable discusses eternal New Deals, multi-trillion-dollar mistakes, and sobbing face-first in the parking lot of life. Happy Monday!

At the very end of today's Reason Roundtable podcast, a rare bit of happy news flashed across the series of tubes: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the Empire State will slowly begin to reopen on May 15. Thank God for that, given that the previous 50-plus minutes of the 'cast was filled with phrases like "threshold of doom," "sobbing face-first in a parking lot," and (shudders) "backdoor UBI caucus." Two months of lockdown has been good for neither fiscal nor mental sanity.
At other points in this episode, Nick Gillespie, Katherine Mangu-Ward, Peter Suderman, and Matt Welch engage in what are now weekly discussions on psychedelics, Libertarian Party presidential politics, and weird Zoom activities.

I might read the transcript. Or skim it. Unless there's no transcript at all, in which case I'll do something else.

Yes, I bet everyone is looking forward to the LP convention.

Sometimes I think KMW and I must run in similar circles. Firefly 2 weeks ago, and I just badly lost a Zoom Scattergories battle with several friends over the weekend. (Badly)
Nerd!
Sometimes I like listening to these four discuss the latest news. Other times I get sick of hearing the narrow minds spew lib party talking points which are complete BS. Case in point, the assertion in today's podcast that the WPA was ultimately the government (taxpayers) paying for the creation of a bunch of useless murals. In reality, aside from art, music and writing projects, the WPA actually built a ton of infrastructure: bridges, schools, roads, parks, libraries, stadiums, theaters, waterfronts, etc. It actually created a ton of very useful stuff, much still in use today. In addition it put millions of Americans to work, giving them an income they could spend to get the economy going. But libertarians, like all political beasts, play a zero sum game: because the government created a jobs program, then said program was therefore a complete waste and should be condemned for ever and ever. So cue, Nick to make fun of those silly WPA statues.
I think we all have to cooperate because they are doing their best too. http://www.unmannedsas.com/
If we are crossing the threshold of Doom, we need Conan.
The real Conan the barbarian, no imitations please. I am not sure where he is hanging out lately, but am certain that a manly man like him is immune to the Covid. So he should be ready to go, as long as we give him a big share of the loot.
