Tribeca Film Festival: Jason Silva Talks Techno-Optimism

"We each can become god in our own custom made universe," explains Jason Silva, host of the National Geographic Channel's Brain Games. Silva was at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival promoting his web series Shots of Awe. Silva says the popularity of wearable devices will change the future of how we consume media.

Reason TV's Zach Weissmueller caught up with Silva to discuss techno-optimism, NSA spying, and the future of virtual reality.

About 7 minutes.

Produced by William Neff and Zach Weissmuller. Shot by Jim Epstein.

  1. I may be late to the party, but ‘techno-optimism’ doesn’t necessarily align with libertarianism.

Yes, libertarians are usually techno-optimists, but not all (or even most?) techno-optimists are libertarians- or even anything close.

    1. Especially libertarians who advocate the gold standard, which makes Malthusian assumptions that particular resource.

A consistent gold standard advocate would have to integrate that doctrine into a tragic view of the human condition where we never have enough sustenance to go around and most people die prematurely from material deprivation.

  2. And this guy looked like he did a rail of blow before the interview.

  3. It’s just bit patterns! Your bit patterns should be watched, and if your bit patterns produce a ‘hit’ your door should be kicked in and you should be searched because social contract and consensus!

  4. Jason A. Silva
    almost as hot as Cody
    needs to print a gun

    1. But way, WAY less glibertarian.

  5. its awesome,, Start working at home with Google. It’s a great work at home opportunity. Just work for few hours. I earn up to $100 a day. I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out

  6. Silva is as vapid as he was on Current TV.
