Killing the Goose That Lays the Little Black Egg

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has announced a series of new taxes on petroleum companies. Chavez says the government will impose a new extraction tax, reportedly on 33%. He also said the government plans to boost income taxes to 50% from 34% for companies operating on the Orinoco River and to raise taxes on natural gas.
