Jewecology—a new word that might not catch on
Mark Swofford took this photograph of a store in Nagasaki, Japan, and Victor Mair of Language Log blogged about it:
The store calls itself an "eco style jewelries recycle store." Mair notes that the "Japanese are inordinately fond of portmanteau words," and that some, like "cosplay," have been great successes—but this one probably won't be.
