FIFA Considering Shifting 2022 World Cup in Qatar to Winter Schedule
World Cup may also be moved out of Qatar instead
New FA Chairman Greg Dyke reportedly wants to push the 2022 FIFA dates from summer to winter. Dyke, only a month into the job, thinks it wouldn't be feasible to hold a summer World Cup in Qatar. According to Arab media reports the Chairman thinks that holding a summer tournament in the 40 degree temperature could be asking for trouble.
Its the first time the FIFA tournament will be held in the Middle East and Qatar won the bid for it defeating requests from Japan, Australia, South Korea and the US. Qatar won this preposition under the supervision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani—son of the then Emir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani as the chairman of the bid committee. Qatar takes this opportunity to promote the Arab world and to bridge the gap between the Arab world and the West.
