TX Plan To Post Legal Notices Online Has Newspapers Fretting Over Revenue

AUSTIN — The boys on the business side here in Texas acted as if they already knew the new State of the News Media report.
The boys in question are the newspaper executives who showed up Monday to tell the House Technology Committee what a truly horrible idea it would be for the Legislature to pass House Bill 335.
We told you all about state Rep. Jonathan Stickland's bill in January. It would allow government bodies to post their public meeting notices on their taxpayer supported websites in exchange for relieving them of the legal responsibility of using taxpayer money to buy space in newspapers to advertise their notices.
