EU Accuses Microsoft of Breaking Anti-Trust Agreement

Microsoft Corp. was sent antitrust objections by European Union regulators, a step before possible fines over its failure to comply with a settlement to give users a choice of web browsers.
Microsoft, which starts selling the Windows 8 version of its operating system this week, may face penalties for breaking the terms of a 2009 pledge to regulators that required it to display a choice of browsers, the European Commission said in an e-mailed statement today.
