Media Relics

The D.I.Y. energy you see among low-budget videographers, in the micro radio movement, and on the Internet is hardly new. One important precursor was Radical Software magazine (1970-1974), which brought the same utopian enthusiasm to early cable TV and portapak video. Like any visionary enterprise, it was sometimes far ahead of its time and sometimes far off target; reading it now is like reading some alternate-universe edition of Wired.

Earlier this year, the Daniel Langlois Foundation put those back issues online. Peruse with pleasure.
