Brickbat: No Sugar Tonight
In England, the government has banned "buy one get one free" deals and other multi-buy promotions on foods high in fat, salt and sugar, in its latest push to tackle childhood obesity. The rules also include a prohibition on free refills of sugary drinks in restaurants. In addition, the government soon plans to ban ads for such foods on television before 9 p.m. and online.

In England-
Stop right there.
I think he means The People's Caliphate of Not So Great Britain.
Soon all meals will be required to be Halal .
This "England" sounds like a pretty horrible place.
*googles*
Ahh, that explains it. So many Mohammeds.
Maybe.... I don't know, get rid of those guys?
No, they were headed down a seriously authoritarian path long before their immigration problem.
Doesn't mean they shouldn't get rid of the Mohammeds. Ain't nothing there of value.
How can the kids be obese?
They have to run from the imported rapists every day.
-No more BOGO. OK, single drinks 50% off.
-No more free refills. OK, see above, refills 50% off.
-No more daytime advertising. OK, our marketing and advertising budgets can make those upgrades to production and distribution we've been needing to make to deliver our goods to customers more cheaply.
I'm not the only one who thinks that this is actually going to push the cost of the beverages themselves down and thus raise consumption right?
I guess as long as they aren't imposing tariffs on Pepsi or Coca-Cola or whatever, that's what really matters.
Mandatory price increases. Don’t you even nanny state, bro?
It's reminiscent of the Parks and Rec "Child Size" soda.

That was so sweet of the nanny
statecaliphate. The state shouldn't be telling us what we may eat or drink. But...consuming large amounts of refined sugar is deadly.
That is ridiculous. Sugary drinks do cause type 2 diabetes which causes everyone’s health costs to go up. There is an economic argument for this, but it’s still oppression. I use Stevia.
Next up, banning forks and spoons!
If today's British gubmint had been in charge of England in 1939, would it have taken Hitler's military a whole day to conquer them?
