Brickbat: Petty Tyrants
In England, a Thames Valley Police officer visited Deborah Anderson in her home and demanded she apologize for a social media post, or she'd be hauled in for an interview at the police station. The officer presented this ultimatum after someone filed a report saying they found her comments upsetting. Anderson refused the demand, citing her right to free speech. She said she felt particular frustration because the police would not tell her what specific post they were concerned about throughout the encounter. After the Free Speech Union took up her case, the police ultimately dropped the investigation, but they still failed to provide details on the offending comment.

Wow, Trump's latest Speech-Cuntrol Executive Odor's stench has now reached across the Big Lake, all the way to Merry Old England, and to Deborah Anderson!!! The stench has reached the wench; Won't someone PLEASE throw a wrench into this dastardly machine?
All around the cobbler's bench, monkey-wrench the wench's stench!
Um, this story already made an appearance here.
I'm assuming her comment in some way offended Britain's colonizers.
It was posted and discussed in a previous Wolfe article comments. They did not tell her but she made/makes orangemangood posts. Perhaps one of those AWFLs that moved to the UK after 2016.
I’m assuming it wasn’t. If it was, she’d actually be in jail right now.
Mean tweets. She posts pro DJT stuff. But the constabulary never told her which post(s) were offensive. Imagine a British jeffsarc perusing social media for libertarians and conservatives to report.
To these American ears, something about "Apologize for you post or else we'll interview you." sounds very "Meet the new colonizers, same as the old colonizers."
King Charles is a lil bitch.
This is what leftists want for the US; a government that gives them free stuff and punishes their perceived enemies. And of course such governments NEVER turn on the idiots when their usefulness has run its course; that is just beyond the pale.
Citizens in the UK do not have an actual right to free speech. They have the right to freely express whatever views the government deems necessary for the functioning of a democratic society.
It's almost like a living constitution; changes with the times, and who is calling the shots.
