D.C. Is Just the Beginning—the Trump Administration Is Preparing To Deploy Troops to More U.S. Cities.
The president signed an executive order on Monday establishing specialized units within the National Guard to support federal law enforcement in American cities.

Following his declaration of a "crime emergency" in Washington, D.C., two weeks ago, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday directing leaders of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force to take "further actions" to support his federal takeover of the city.
The order directs the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Park Police in D.C. to hire additional staff to "focus on prosecuting violent and property crimes." It mandates the creation of "an online portal for Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds and experience" to apply and "join Federal law enforcement entities" in "ensuring public safety and order" in the nation's capital.
It remains unclear how this online portal will differ from existing hiring platforms for federal agencies. White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers tells Reason the president's executive order uses "commonsense measures" and "all federal resources" to increase the ranks of federal law enforcement and "Make DC Safe and Beautiful Again."
Perhaps the most troubling part of the order is that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is tasked with establishing specialized units focused on "public safety and order" that can be deployed in D.C. or other cities. Pentagon plans leaked earlier this month detailed a 600-troop "Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force" deployable within an hour to U.S. cities facing unrest. The executive order activates those plans for the defense secretary to train state Army and Air National Guards for "civil disturbances" and establish a "standing National Guard quick reaction force" for nationwide deployment.
The president could utilize these forces as he seeks to replicate his actions in D.C. in Los Angeles—a lawsuit challenging the deployment of the California National Guard in L.A. is still pending—and other cities across the country. On Saturday, The Washington Post reported that the Pentagon has been "planning a military deployment to Chicago" for weeks. The planning "involves several options, including mobilizing at least a few thousand members of the National Guard as soon as September," per the Post. The president has also threatened to send troops into Baltimore to "quickly clean up the [city's] Crime," per the BBC.
The federal takeover of D.C. may have been unprecedented, but as Monday's executive order shows, similar takeovers may soon be coming to other American cities.

If you oppose the president using the military to take over cities run by the political opposition then you support rape and murder.
/what Trump defenders really believe
Nice strawman, dudette. Now gone up with a real argument using proper citations.
This is just as edgy and insightful as it was when you wrote the last 20 times. But let me guess: It's okay cuz Jesse did it first.
But of course. Sarc here has a major case of Jesse Derangement Syndrome. He’s been known to blame Jesse even for things Jesse never did to him.
All decade list member.
So are we at the "This is tyranny by anyone's definition" yet ?
Or are we still at them "Well ... its against someone I don't like, so its okay." phase.
Who cares, as long as it saves lives!
“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” - William Pitt
And it was the cry of Branch Covidians like yourself.
And not acting is the desire of every criminal, especially pedos and murderers.
Which one are you?
Or are we in the grip of a social liberal moral panic?
Or are we still at them "Well ... its against someone I don't like, so its okay." phase.
As long as Trump targets Democrats and illegals then he can do no wrong. So far the only thing I've seen his zealots criticize is his takeover of corporations. But they quickly forget and get back to cheering when he gets more retribution on Democrats and illegals.
Why does the Dem leadership simp for illegals like the one who killed Laken Riley as he was trying to rape her pussy?
So, you like carjackers and gangbangers that randomly shoot into crowds?
So, do you favor sending the military to "clean up" other major cities?
Will they do the job Chicago Police can't or wont?
Chicago under Brandon Johnson

Let's say yes. Still in favor?
So you put words in someone else’s mouth. What a sack of shit you are, Jeffy.
What was it about bears in trunks, again?
Defining "cleaning up" as removing rapists, terrorists, gang bangers and violent criminals, pedos and murderers off the street.
Yes because the democrats in charge have failed miserably and US citizens deserve better and safer streets.
Don't want federal law enforcement in your city? Vote out the democrats and vote in people who will be tough on crime...
You mean the DNC's base? Or is that the campus jihadis? Or Ukrainian forever warriors? Or biology deniers? Or modern monetary theorists? Or ancient astronaut theorists?
Don't like Trump? Thank your retarded party for making him easily the better option.
lol you were going to vote for Trump even if the Dem candidate was reincarnated Reagan and Milton Friedman.
Amazing assumptions, methjeff, but you know what they say about assuming things, ass?
The Democrats today would never run either of those guys and you know this.
If the LP had run their ghosts, they would have performed better than Chase, even among the commentariat.
Trump should leave the failing, flailing collectivist shitholes known as American cities to reap what they are sowing. The national guard is not going to prevent the Soros backers from pulling the temple down on themselves.
Let them die.
I'm torn on this. I have lived in more than one blue state / area, and frequently it's a 55-45 kind of split. That leaves an awful lot of people who specifically voted against this kind of shit who end up getting harmed.
I will grant you Chicago, Seattle, Portland, etc do not meet my metric at all. Those places probably have more registered Communists than Republicans, and I am pretty content to watch them burn. But Trump isn't. For all of his bluster and objectionable traits, he has a much lower tolerance for death and destruction than any modern politician.
Giving the people something different, a feeling of safety and security , should turn them around at the polls where they would elect tough on crime politicians. The media is able to hide most truth. But when people see the difference in their communities, virtually immediately, they will vote for law enforcement again.
There's way too much unknown here, and Reason's reputation for shading the truth and not telling the full story makes me doubtful it's as this article claims. I'm reminded of the flag burning executive order, which got played up as some outrageous flaunting of the Supreme Court but turned out to be a big nothing burger.
What in the article is not true or left out?
This is the type of thing I asked about earlier today. If sending in the military to "clean up" DC is such a great thing, why not do it at all the major cities? What could possibly be the downside?
What could possibly be the downside?
A drop in fentanyl overdoses, leaving more homeless alive who would have otherwise gone quietly into the hereafter.
Well then, sounds like you're all-in for sending the military to "clean up" shithole cities like Seattle.
I mean, it's totally on brand for Nihilist MAGA - nothing in the future matters, wield power now for results now
So nihilism means fighting crime and restoring order? You should coin an analogy for that,
If you're really naive enough to believe that the top-down increasing of "federal" presence of authorities and police in any city is going to permanently "restore order", you should follow the same logic you and the Donald approve of, and educate yourself about the "Pacification" programs Brazil had deployed for years, with predictable results: https://aje.io/atxfk
Of course it's (temporarily) resulted in more arrests and less crime - anyone can see and predict that. But there are a number of reasons why the logic behind this whole operation is weak and flawed, and one of them is the simple fact that, you can't increase the presence indefinitely or forever - at some point you have to take your foot off the gas; at which point the conditions will basically default back to where they were before, and so nothing has actually changed or improved.
And also, because the increased federal presence hasn't addressed the underlying issue of why crime is high or exists in the first place, it let's the local police and politicians off-the-hook, since crime control is technically their responsibility and nothing has been done to address their fraudulence or incompetence. There's less incentive for them to improve and so therefore can even lead to worse outcomes in the long run.
But hey, it's Trump's show and we dare not question his MAGA worldview, I guess.
I like how sarc goes back to the argument over and over that if you cant fix something permanently, nothing should be done. What a fucking child lol.
Meanwhile he also screams in rage at cases like Rittenhouse and Penny when people try to protect themselves and others. What a fuckwit.
The downside is that it pushes the US even more into a fascist police state.
But you have to look at it from the Nihilist MAGA point of view. To them, only the present matters. The future is meaningless. So who cares if what the president does *might* push the US towards full dictatorship? All that matters RIGHT NOW is to stop crime. Right?
I get why you are saying this. You know the democrats will remain along side of Soros and the defund the police movement, destroy America from the inside out mentality.
So you are mostly concerned about when the Federal law enforcement leaves the city and the democrats will let it burn again.
Yes I agree. That's why you need to vote for tough on crime politicians who will provide safe streets with local law enforcement so the "federal fascists" don't have to make the streets safe for citizens.
Minneapolis shooter appears to be another deranged tranny.

So it was not gang related?
Does MAGA even remember this?

Do retards even remember this?
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/31/americans-killed-protests-political-unrest-acled
The federal government has other tools that can be used - withholding of funding, offers of increased funding, is Trump fixating on this one because it returns the fastest results?
No. Trump is fixated on this because it returns the most fascist results.
Funding tools rest in Congress’s hands, so he doesn’t have the power to use them.
He is fixated on this because it lets him cosplay as National Police Chief and therefore all will look to him as the reason why the crime problem was solved.
That would not save the 5 year old child killed in Chicago on the weekend. Or the 100's per month.
This would just give democrats more excuse to cut police funding and blame Trump for their problems.
There is no crime emergency in the US because crime is at historic lows. If the US has any hope of failing as a free country, everyone needs to resist all of Trump's fascist moves.
Not allowing foreigners to Invade your nation is 'fascist'? That's a new one.
Non sequitur. That is not a component of fascism one way or the other.
LOL, are you on the cook the books committees?
Per the court cases link.
The biggest factor is obviously IF the National Guard is enforcing Federal Law or is it trying to enforce State Laws of Violence? It has Constitutional Authority to enforce Immigration and any rebellion against the enforcement-of. It doesn't have authority to just be willy-nilly enforcing the State's Laws as they see fit without approval of the State.
This really isn't that hard to understand.
I’m not a fan of it in general, too much potential for mission creep, but this is how I read it as well.
Trump is merely a useful idiot. The Neo-fascist party is now really in charge. Trump is happy to sign any bat-shit insane EO they want. Trump will die in office in the next year, allowing JD takes over. JD releases the Epstein stuff, calls "mission accomplished" and recalls some the military, decreases some tariffs. JD looks like the saviour, Trump is the bad guy, but the prescedent is set. The neo-fascists are here to stay.
Retard leftists seem committed to never read any eo, instead blindly repeating Maddow.
They all cite the law and state in compliance with it.
