Brickbat: Who Audits the Auditor?

Tobias Otieno, a former auditor with the Office of the New York State Comptroller, was arraigned on charges of second degree grand larceny as a public corruption crime. Between June 2022 and September 2024, Otieno was assigned to audit the town of Wallkill's finances. During this time, officials say Otieno used his access to the town's bank accounts and financial documents to transfer $405,843.25 to business accounts he personally owned. The theft was uncovered by the Orange County White Collar Crimes Taskforce, a division of the district attorney's office, and the Orange County Sheriff's Office, with help from forensic auditors with the state comptroller's office, Otieno's employer. Otieno, who was terminated from his position, pleaded not guilty.

Who Audits the Auditor?
I dunno. But if you're electing Al'Capone who promises to STEAL from those 'icky' people on your behalf it really shouldn't come as a surprise when they STEAL for themselves.
Greed and Selfishness obsessions often yields a lot of stupidity.
You don't need to "audit the auditors" - you need to set your auditors up with 'read everything, write nothing' access. This was pure laziness on the part of the team that managed the auditors' credentials.
Being an employee of the New York, Tobias was grossly underpaid and overworked. Just ask the soon-to-be pounded in the ass daily flesh rocket pin cushion. Hence the $200k/year deserved self assigned pay increase.
Always steal from the commoners if you must. Never from the government.
The big guy, General; don't forget 10% for the big guy.
Most likely, he did neglect to pay someone, and that's why he's being prosecuted.
Am guessing Tobias did not report this income on his taxes.
"Second degree grand larceny", now that's a combination that really sums up the precision with which our laws provide justice.
Who audits the auditor auditing the auditor? And is there an audition?
Going once....... going twice........
Barely audible for the audience.
I find it very taxing.
