California's Rationalist-Linked Death Cult
Plus: Air traffic control failures that led to a plane crash, "why shit not working" in New York City, and more...

Have you heard about the Zizians? A string of recent killings has been linked to a Vallejo, California, death cult that's connected to the rationalist scene. Sex worker/data scientist Aella has more. I'll attempt an abbreviated summary, drawing from Aella's reporting, a solid SFGate explainer, and an X user named @kenthecowboy_.
In 2022, Curtis Lind, a Vallejo landlord who had been letting folks live on his property in "trailers and containers" was stabbed—allegedly by tenants who had stopped paying rent—with a Samurai sword. Lind shot two of his attackers and killed one of them—31-year-old Emma Borhanian. Two weeks ago, Lind was stabbed to death on his property, just before he was scheduled to testify in the case. On Tuesday, 22-year-old Maximilian Snyder was charged with the murder.

This killing is linked to six other deaths across the country. The suspected killers—the tenants-turned-delinquents who had been living as a cult—are almost all transgender and part of the Berkeley-based rationalist community, following their leader, Jack LaSota (Ziz). Some of them are romantically linked to one another: Snyder, for example, applied for a marriage license in the state of Washington back in November along with girlfriend Teresa Youngblut, the suspect in a Vermont-Canadian border shootout that killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
Back in January 2023, 71-year-old Richard Zajko and his 69-year-old wife, Rita, a Pennsylvania couple suspected to be the parents of one of the cultists, were murdered. And all the way back in February 2018, a woman named Maia Pasek killed herself after being in heavy contact with Ziz, and seemingly under her influence (more on that in a second).
The purported cult leader, Ziz, had attended workshops at the Center for Applied Rationality (CFAR). In 2019, CFAR reportedly banned both Ziz and another cult member, Gwen, from events; multiple followers started protesting the organization (even alleging transphobia). At an unclear time, possibly several years prior in 2016, Ziz started a blog, advocating "a ruthlessly enforced altruism towards all living creatures, and to follow the principle that it's never valid to surrender" and promoting "the punishment of 'non-good' people, particularly those who are not vegans," per Aella's writeup. The group's members claimed to have invented things like "unihemispheric sleep" (UHS), "a form of sleep where only one half of the brain rests at a time," per a writer named Apollo Mojave. "Entering UHS requires the sleeper to be exhausted, it also has disorienting effects so they are not quite themselves. The Zizians exploit this state to convince the unwary that they are actually two people. Ziz believes themselves to be 'double good', and almost without exception tells the people she is recruiting that they are 'single good'. By doing this Ziz establishes a relationship of moral superiority over her followers." (Pasek reportedly killed herself after UHS experiences.)
A February 2023 post from the rationalist blog LessWrong warned of this cult and possible violence, and many members of the rationalist community have made clear that the Zizians have long been unhinged and disturbed. "Ziz preaches a doctrine of radical high-tech veganism that promotes punishing your ideological enemies," concludes Mojave. "She rejects the idea of 'niceness, community, and civilization' that's often at the core of Effective Altruism and AI safety movement member concerns."
At various points, different Zizians have faked their own deaths, but the majority appear to be at large. "We still don't know the whereabouts of the people in this story who aren't either dead or in custody, and we sort of expect them to continue doing murders," writes Aella.
Air traffic control failures: The accident on Wednesday night, in which a Black Hawk helicopter crashed into an American Airlines flight attempting to land at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, resulted in 67 casualties—all three people aboard the military helicopter and all 64 people aboard the commercial aircraft. New information emerged yesterday about how air traffic control was short-staffed, with one person covering a job normally done by two people. A supervisor had reportedly allowed one of the controllers to go home sometime before 9:30 p.m., leaving the job to one person alone, who was managing helicopter traffic around the area as well as communicating with planes both landing and taking off.
"Controllers can use different radio frequencies to communicate with pilots flying planes and pilots flying helicopters," reports The New York Times. "While the controller is communicating with pilots of the helicopter and the jet, the two sets of pilots may not be able to hear each other."
"Like most of the country's air traffic control facilities, the tower at Reagan airport has been understaffed for years. The tower there was nearly a third below targeted staff levels, with 19 fully certified controllers as of September 2023, according to the most recent Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan, an annual report to Congress that contains target and actual staffing levels. The targets set by the F.A.A. and the controllers' union call for 30."
Of course, just because the union said so doesn't mean it's true, but maintaining a certain high standards both for how qualified controllers are, as well as how many there are and for how long they must work, makes sense.
Scenes from New York: Chi Ossé, a member of the city council (formerly my representative), has started a new series, "Why Shit Not Working," which chronicles the many areas of New York suckage. On the one hand: Yes! True. On the other: You're a member of the city council, shouldn't you be the one empowered to fix it? What exactly are they doing with their time and our money if not tackling the rats in the streets and the crazy people on the subway?

- New Just Asking Questions episode with Julia Gelatt on the immigration crackdown, current and planned:
- Settlement discussions are underway between President Donald Trump's legal team and CBS's parent company, Paramount, over Trump's lawsuit alleging that CBS deceptively edited an interview with presidential opponent Kamala Harris to make her answer seem more cogent. Paramount is currently working to close a merger with Skydance, and some fears are circulating that the Trump administration could possibly block the deal if he doesn't get a favorable resolution.
- "Progressives please stop lowering standards for minorities. It does not help us. You talk about 'representation,; but if the representative sucks, how exactly are we represented? Ibram Kendi should never have been a thing," writes journalist Zaid Jilani on X in a must-read thread. "This isn't really even Ibram Kendi's fault. He's just taking what they give him. This is the fault of all these paternalistic liberal foundations and major donors who have no standards for anyone and think Ibram Kendi is the best minorities have," he adds. "Frederick Douglass used to write for The Atlantic. Frederick Douglass! From Douglass to Kendi. I'm not sure a greater decline is possible."

Have you heard about the Zizians?
I don't think we're allowed to discuss this.
I did like how the bit about passports for trans people was also in this particular post.
I'm pretty sure passports list sex, not gender. Weren't those supposed to be separate concepts according to trans activists? I guess that's only when convenient.
I also feel like we’re not getting a complete story in that passport excerpt. This can’t be the first and only a trans person tried to renew a passport, so what exactly is going on in this case?
It does make me think of the Air Force petulantly misinterpreting the DEI XO in order to try to dunk on Trump.
"It does make me think of the Air Force petulantly misinterpreting the DEI XO in order to try to dunk on Trump."
its this
Sounds like the government pitching a fit and trying to act like an ass over Trump's EO (like FL librarians taking virtually every book out of libraries and USAF stopping discussing Tuskegee Airmen)
And some doctors telling women they can’t be treated because of abortion laws, let’s recognize that definitely happens too.
And some doctors getting punished because of abortion laws and stupid and evil politicians and voters, let’s recognize that definitely happens too.
Like Kermit Gosnell.
Right. S/he probably refused to identify a sex and was told s/he had to self-identify to receive a passport. Activist media converted the customer refusal to provide necessary information into the institution's blanket refusal to issue.
The tranny was probably throwing a massive bitchfit on top of it and pissed off the desk clerk enough to get them to confiscate all the paperwork.
that is my first thought, had a big temper tantrum and got escorted out
Weren't those supposed to be separate concepts according to trans activists?
Except that they then need surgeries to make their body match their unrelated-to-body gender.

Dr. Seuss was an early Zizianist or maybe a proto-Zizianist. If ye can write "kid's books" and secretly be a Zizianist Prevert, then SURELY we may discuss this shit freely!!!
WHY do I say this about Dr. Seuss? "Zizzer-zazzer-suzz", look shit up! "A zizzer-zazzer-suzz as you can plainly see! Dr. Seuss's ABC. An amazing Alphabet book! Pick four Alphabets and draw pictures."

Dr. Seuss: CLEARLY an early Zizianist and a child-molesting prevert!!! If he wasn't already dead, then SURELY we'd be hearing Mother's Lament (with a Head Full of Cement) telling him to kill himself!!!
No, I just save that for you, crazypants.

The Zizians are an extinct collective that never existed except as an attempt to concoct something that, by comparison, makes Army of God, Jesus Caucus, Christian National Socialist and Baby-Saver girl-bullier MAGAts look like the lesser evil in contrast.
So……. Nothing to see here?
Thanks for clearing that up, officer barbrady.
I'll weigh in on the arrest and death of a Border Patrol agent in Vermont since I grew up a few miles, literally, from where it happened. Coventry is not on the Canadian border and it is a mystery to me why the border cop was down there running around. The "man applied for a marriage license to marry his girlfriend" is a canard. The "man" was a tranny woman and the "woman" was a tranny man. The entire thing is very strange but I'm pretty sure in Northern Vermont, in fact dead sure, 2 trannies in a Prius with NC plates would draw a bit of attention especially in a town with under 1,000 residents.

Maybe it's good just be riling people up. But I still think it's better to try to be accurate about these things and not make claims that are easily shown to be false. Especially when the truth is pretty close to the exaggeration and still bad enough.
It is to get the story public. People are talking about it now.

False! UNFPA says this money was to buy 6 maternity units, 3 c-section units, 40 safe spaces for sexual violence victims and 520,000 maternal mortality and baby kits. No US money was used to purchase condoms. "In 2024, UNFPA provided $100,000 worth of male condoms to Gaza, but none of it was funded by the United States."

Andrew Miller currently works for the Center for American Progress. This explains the use of the term "feverish dream".
C'mon, Reason. Do better.
Still waiting for Trump to nationalize tik tok like Lancaster and ENB said he would.
You know, even if entirely fabricated, the fact that we could at least consider $50 million for condoms in Gaza as an actual Democrat plan shows how retarded they have become.
It's kind of genius, really, getting the Gazans to genocide themselves.
If the Israelis deployed condoms for Gaza, would they come with a bang at the end?
If Israel did offer condoms to Gaza, I'm sure they would use that as even more evidence of the so called genocide.
We must submit to and obey the EXPERTS!!! because they are above Crapitalist greed and only seek the common good:

Hey guys, let’s not get too rough on Hank. He’ll just take it out on the group home staff.
Media was up in arms yesterday over Trumps speech about the air collision because he brought up harmful DEI policies.
As more and more comes out, it turns out ATC was understaffed by 15% and had a number of near misses in recent weeks.
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/transportation/midair-collision-over-nations-capital-preceded-near-misses-safety
Often they have one employee doing multiple ATC roles and employees working long hours.
This comes off a report a few months back 1000 white applicants were rejected for employment as the DEI enhanced hiring policies sought minority and women applicants, who didn't exist.
I’m not so sure ATC is to blame here, other than being short-staffed (as usual - it’s a very demanding job that not everyone can do). The pilot, a transgender MtF (no idea how that plays into this yet), disregarded ATC instructions to stay below 200 feet (and out of the way of incoming air traffic) and rapidly increased the altitude of the helicopter from 200 feet to 300-350 feet. I’ve seen some rumors going around though.
I did find this summation on X that seems fairly good;
https://x.com/gregbagwell/status/1885128250055135356?s=46&t=qeA47-JjK6vq0pfnxg60dA
Got a question for aviation experts: why are landing lights turned on so high above the ground, presumably when the gear extends? At those speeds, they are sure aren't going to light up potential colliding aircraft from any useful distance, and probably aren't any use even on the ground until the plane has slowed down considerably. Why not only turn them on when there's weight on the landing gear?
Planes use their landing lights during the day too, for the same reason cars have daytime running lights. Don't need to be an aviation expert to figure out why.
Yeah, I think they are for visibility, not illumination.
I guess I'm wrong and they are for illumination too (esp for small aircraft). But increasing visibility is also part of it according to what I can find.
They're for both.
"It's like I told my last wife, I says 'Honey, I never fly any faster than I can see, besides that, it's all in the reflexes.'"
If I'd wanted a stupid ignorant answer, I'd have supplied my own.
Navigation lights are different from landing lights. Perhaps now you;d care to weigh in on why you think landing lights are navigation lights.
Poor sarc.
If you use this thing called a search engine it will tell you that planes are supposed to put their landing lights on, day or night, if they're below 10,000 feet and within 10 miles of an airport.
Again, why do you think that is? As I said before it's the same reason why cars have daytime running lights. It's not that hard.
What's really funny here, Jesse Jr, is that now you will refuse to believe that landing lights are to be seen as well as to see, because you'd rather be wrong than say I'm right. So petty and dumb.
I'd rather have an answer from a credible source, especially such a sorry answer as "I googled it but won't show you my sources". You've pulled that nonsense a few too many times. Whether you are right or not remains to be seen.
Don't need an aviation expert to figure it out. Just need a drop or two of common sense.
Which is why he wants a source, not your claims.
Work it out buddy.
Then why did you respond?
> why are landing lights turned on so high above the ground, presumably when the gear extends? At those speeds, they are sure aren't going to light up potential colliding aircraft from any useful distance, and probably aren't any use even on the ground until the plane has slowed down considerably.
Two things:
1. Having landing lights on on approach is considered a good thing. It's not so you can see other aircraft. It's so they can see you. Controllers on the ground can identify you clearly and visually confirm you're on approach (since the light is pointed at them). Other pilots see you coming so they don't pull on to the runway in front of you. Etc.
1.a. Also it's a matter of workload. You have a moment in the approach when you can get them on and then don't think about them until it's time to turn them off. You're SUPER busy on landing approach, the closer to touchdown the busier you are, so some shit you take care of ahead of time to keep your workload at a minimum when you need to be concentrating most on flying the plane.
2. Landing lights are for landing. They are pointed at an angle that illuminates the runway ahead and just to the side when the nose if the aircraft is held high, as it is just before the wheels touch down. The pilot can use this illumination to judge distance to the ground, see the centerline and/or edges of the runway, If you wait for the weight to be on the wheels, well, you've missed the whole point.
Since I'm on the subject, a lot of aircraft have both landing and taxi lights. The taxi lights are pointed forward, like a car headlight, and the landing lights angled down. If you used the taxi light at landing it'd just be pointed into the sky, not illuminating the runway at all when you were looking to touch down. Likewise, the landing lights don't light up what's ahead of you when the nose is on the ground so a taxi light might be used to help you see ahead.
Anyway, not an "aviation expert" but I do have a commercial pilot's license.
The pilot, a transgender MtF (no idea how that plays into this yet),
It doesn’t because it’s not true. The pilot was a woman. The rumors of a trans pilot in the helicopter are bogus.
Have they identified who it was?
I don’t have a name for the pilot but it’s been said she was a woman with 500 hours of flight experience. The trans pilot people claimed was in the helicopter is, in fact, still alive and wasn’t on the chopper.
I’ve seen at least one of the other crew on the helicopter identified, so I suspect the pilots name is out there somewhere.
"The pilot was a woman"
What's that?
What do you think we are, a bunch of biologists?
The whole pilot being a troon thing is still a rumor that I'd take with a huge grain of salt right now. Apparently there's a photo going around of a rando Army chick that isn't actually the pilot.
“The pilot, a transgender MtF…..”
Sigh. Every time trump says something that makes me think “dude, not now, you’re playing right into their hands’, he turns out to be right. Damn.
This is couch fvcking simpler than anyone wants to make it:
DONT HAVE FVCKING HELICOPTER TRAINING FLIGHTS BY THE RUNWAYS OF OUR BUSIEST AIRPORTS DIPSHITS
It’s like Wuhan Lab simple - was it a bat or a Pangolin from the market? NO, THE CORONAVIRUS RESEARCH FACILITY JUST UP THE STREET
That seems like a pretty obvious answer. If they need to train where there is air traffic, there are plenty of places where there is non-civilian traffic they can practice around.
This definitely seemed like an accident waiting to happen. Training flights allowed to cross into known glide paths, in vehicles operating on different radio frequencies. It’s miraculous this doesn’t happen more.
In their defense, this unit provides VIP transport in the area. It's army, not Marines, so that doesn't include Marine One. But it does provide a rationale to training in the same area they fly in for real.
But training perhaps shouldn't require they actually cross into flight lanes actually used by a busy airport. I don't see why training helicopter pilots require they learn how to play chicken with civilian jetliners.
Same reason we train with real bullets and shells, despite having computer simulators and lasers that do a very good approximation of where your round will lay. Can't beat the real thing. Consider what the difference would be, if instead of this being a training flight, it actually had VIP on board and the pilot had never trained in this environment. What would you be saying then? Would you be questioning why the pilot had never trained in this environment before actually flying in it?
There aren't many DC VIPs that I would mind seeing drowned in the Potomac, but I'd rather it happened while a Kennedy was playing chauffeur instead of while being flown by those who have useful skills.
They is definitely an issue with military aircraft being used to ferry VIP, I can maybe see the President and VP for security reasons. I think generals, and admirals as a rule, abuse the privilege. Civilians in government, even DoD or SecDef, only if it is mission critical, which 99% of the time it isn't.
Oh and it isn't cheap operating a UH-60.
Oh, and by its very nature, military training is pretty dangerous and often potentially deadly, even in peace time. There are several deaths a year from training accidents (that really are accidents during training and not cover for special operations). It tends to make the news more when it's something big, like this, or a jet aircraft going down or such, but by its very nature the training is potentially life threatening. Hey, we have 18 and 19 year olds training with live ammunition and explosives, routinely, driving 70 ton tanks, in all weather and environments, etc. Shit is bound to happen. The military actually does do a fairly good job investigating and learning from every training accident. I'm betting a far better job than the FAA will do.
Also, it's almost inevitable that the military will fire someone. It almost always happens with a training fatality, and it often isn't the smallest fish in the pond either. This is likely a career ender, possibly even a court martial offense, if they find negligence on the commands part.
Oh, and by its very nature, military training is pretty dangerous and often potentially deadly, even in peace time.
And I find this entirely acceptable when random bystanders don’t end up being casualties in a training accident. We don’t place targets in crowded metro areas to practice precision artillery sighting.
We don't place targets, but we have had several military aircraft go down in civilian neighborhoods. Have had lethal accidents on highways related to military convoys. Have had long range ordinance malfunction and land in civilian areas, etc. Almost no military post is large enough that you can conduct flight training wholely within the post and often there are severe limitations to on post training sites that require travel to large, off post training centers. This isn't the first time a civilian, or even a group of civilians, related to a military aircraft, in a civilian space. Or through some other military related activity. It's pretty fucking spectacular, in the scope of it, but far from the first time. For that sake, we've had civilian airliners crash into suburban areas and kill people to, or civilian aircraft crash into each other. In fact the last large airline accident involved a civilian aircraft plowing into a New Jersey suburb.
This sounds like a solid reason to spread the agencies all over the country so they won't have a glut of self-important dickholes causing these issues.
I don’t think helicopters should be allowed to occupy that particular airspace at all. It sounds insane that military traffic is cross-crossing a portion of the sky that’s a busy lane for landing jets. Maybe we don’t need an air base occupying that little piece of land if the sky is so busy.
I did state that the use of military aircraft for VIP except during critical missions should be ended. I think as long as the government continues to use military aircraft as their personal chauffers, then the need to train in this environment is going to continue. Additionally, it's basically impossible to cross into DC airspace from Virginia without crossing a glide path for Reagan.
Also, I think a far better question would be how many hours did the pilot have in the right seat in this environment and how many hours in the left seat? If you're not familiar, the right seat is for the co-pilot and the left seat for the aircraft commander in US military aircraft. That, I think, would prove the most insightful. Even an experienced pilot, whose been an aircraft commander/chief pilot, for years in a line unit, should probably spend some time in the right seat in this environment before taking over the left seat.
Most helicopters the PIC sits in the right seat. Been army standard since they got their first helicopter, and I'm pretty sure blackhawks are set up right seat PIC. Fixed wing it's usually left seat.
Moot to your argument, just pointing it out.

Family outraged after man convicted in Connecticut killings gets clemency from Biden in drug case
https://apnews.com/article/biden-clemency-connecticut-adrian-peeler-28fa099588ec3f0d2555e036fda16be3
Relatives of an 8-year-old boy and his mother who were murdered by a Connecticut drug gang are outraged that a man convicted in the killings was one of nearly 2,500 people whose drug-related prison sentences were commuted by former President Joe Biden in his last days in office.
Adrian Peeler served a 20-year state prison sentence for murder conspiracy in the 1999 shootings of Leroy “B.J.” Brown and his mother, Karen Clarke, in Bridgeport — killings that shocked the city and led to improvements in state witness protection. Prosecutors said Brown and his mother were assassinated to prevent the child from testifying in another murder case.

The literature on male-female sex ratio's is clear: imbalances between men and women lead to increases in violent crime and social conflict as men fight for the resources necessary to compete for the few available women.
It also skews the social norm toward masculine aggression.
...What Canada has done here is basically invite in a huge number of single men, promise them economic success, and failed to mention that a large number of them have no chance at ever getting married or having a family.
This is evil and cruel.
Maybe if they promised 72 virgins to martyrs (including MAID).
I thought those were 72 raisins.
I remembered it as dates or figs, which might be the same thing as far as ancient translations go.

And to top it off, they never increased the number of immigration agents to deal with Trudeau opening it up.
These people are all legal immigrants, who are now facing expulsion because Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada aren't even processing their initial submissions yet two years later.
Meanwhile, if they had just shown up and claimed asylum, they'd be enjoying a free house, free utilities, and a monthly allowance bigger than any unemployment insurance check.

Fauci’s NIH Once Tested AIDS Drugs On Foster Children, Including Infants
https://nationalfile.com/faucis-nih-once-tested-aids-drugs-on-foster-children-including-infants/
While Fauci was in these roles, it was revealed in 2005, the NIH oversaw the enrollment of thousands of foster children with AIDS into controversial programs that allowed them to receive experimental drugs designed to combat the illness. Some of these children later died, and most were not given independent advocates that were promised.
According to John Soloman, then reporting for the Associated Press, the NIH “promised in writing to provide an independent advocate to safeguard the kids’ well-being as they tested potent AIDS drugs,” however, these advocates failed to materialize for almost every child involved. The subjects – foster children without stable home lives – ranged from infants to late teens.
Solomon wrote that, with a general lack of oversight, “Several studies that enlisted foster children reported that patients suffered side effects such as rashes, vomiting and sharp drops in infection-fighting blood cells, and one reported a ‘disturbing’ higher death rate among children who took higher doses of a drug, records show.” (READ MORE: NIH Quietly Changes Definition Of ‘Gain-Of-Function’ Amid Fauci, Wuhan Lab Scandal Fallout)
“Some foster children died during studies,” reported Solomon after noting that the majority of children appear to not have received an advocate. “State or city agencies said they could find no records that any deaths were directly caused by the experimental treatments,” he noted.
A 2009 article from The New York Times claims that no New York City children “died as a result of the trials” and that children in the city were not selected for the trials based on their race.
Still, the Times found “that the agency had not always followed its own protocols and kept poor records.” The Times also discovered that some of the children died, but those involved with the research asserted the deaths were unrelated to the experimental drugs.
Interestingly, Fauci’s name is not mentioned in any of the articles about foster children being used for experiments, despite him having a leadership position at the time.

Obviously this means Fauci did nothing wrong, and deserved a pardon to protect him from persecution by orange hitler.

It was already known that 13.4% of Americans work directly for the government. But it turns out a huge number of the 12.8M non-profit workers are also subsisting entirely off government grants, so the real total could be 24%…. and that doesn’t even include fake consultants/contractors for stuff like DEI, development aid, etc that are “for-profit” but only have a single client
After spending too much time on the award search tool, I’m starting to wonder if we’ve had a UBI system all along for one political party—just disguised as grants.

Here's Andy Ngo's reporting on the trans Zizian cult:
Liberal media has been uninterested in investigating the couple involved in shooting dead a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Coventry, Vermont near the Canadian border on inauguration day. Why? Both in the duo are leftist trans militants. One of the deceased armed militants is a German believed to be in the country on an H-1B visa. The duo is allegedly connected to a trans terror cell.
Federal law enforcement had been surveilling German man Felix "Ophelia" Baukholt and Seattle @UW student Teresa "Milo" Youngblut (xe/xem/xyrs) after staff at a Lyndonville, Vt. motel reported seeing them with black tactical clothing, weapons and protective militia-style equipment.
When the duo was pulled over on Jan. 20, Youngblut allegedly shot dead Officer David Maland in a surprise attack. In the returning fire, Baukholt, who was also armed, was killed. Youngblut was injured and survived.
I spoke with Jessica Taylor, a Berkeley, Calif. woman who had met Baukholt over the years. She confirmed that Baulkholt is trans.
As "Ophelia," Felix Baulkholt's social media and leaked private communications suggest Baulkholt was connected to the violent trans militant cell—or cult—centered around a person who used the alias "Ziz." Members of the trans group have been involved in violence.
Baukholt was a math genius who graduated from @UWaterloo in Canada before getting a job at Tower Research Capital in New York around 2021.
After the shooting, law enforcement found multiple burner mobiles, laptops and weapons in the duo's vehicle.
Surviving trans accomplice Teresa "Milo" Youngblut, who is accused of being the one that fired the shots that killed the veteran/U.S. Border Patrol officer, has been charged over the homicide. Youngblut is a biological female who identifies as trans and uses xe/xem/xyrs pronouns.

Curtis Lind, 82, of Vallejo, Calif., survived an assassination attempt on his life in 2022 when alleged members of the "Ziz" trans terror group impaled him with a sword and took out his eye as revenge for him seeking to evict them. He managed to shoot one of them dead. Lind was hospitalized for a month and barely survived.
He was set to testify against the members of the group at an attempted murder trial but was brutally assassinated on the street on Jan. 17, 2025. He was stabbed in the neck.
A person of interest in this homicide is close with the Vermont trans duo and allegedly provided them with firearms that they used in their killing of the U.S. Border Patrol officer, according to court documents. https://gofundme.com/f/remembering-curtis-lind-forcibly-taken-from-us-too-soon
Curtis Lind was able to shoot dead one of the trans assailants in Vallejo, Calif. in 2022 who was part of the terror group that impalled him with a sword and stabbed him in the face and body, causing him to lose his eye. Lind barely survived, only to be assassinated on Jan. 17, 2025.

Revealed: Shameless squatter who moved into pensioner's empty home then won legal right to keep it... has sold house for a whopping £540K
EXCLUSIVE: Keith Best, 54, was accused of 'stealing' a home he squatted in
But courts ruled he could legally own the house worth £400,000 at the time
He has now sold it for a £540,000 profit, leaving the neighbours fuming

This is when the judges need to be arrested as accessories.
No, not arrested. The law is no longer legitimate in England.
The lesson here is do not involve law enforcement in England. If your daughter gets grabbed, go scorched earth. If your house is being squatted, remove the squatter. You are on your own.
Why? It's just the application of the long-established law of adverse possession. This is not a new concept. It's among various provisions of common law whose combined effect is to keep property from being effectively useless because nobody's sure whose it is. Title doesn't just maintain itself.
The concept of the law of adverse possession is immoral and anti-libertarian.
Fortunately, some governments are waking up.
Former Barack Obama advisor who 'raped a nine-year-old girl' is jailed
International investment banker Rahamim Shy, 47, travelled to Bedfordshire from New York in February 2024 to have sex with the girl following more than a month of planning.
Using an online forum and later messaging apps, Shy described in acute detail the disturbing acts he wanted to do to the girl and that he was fully prepared to travel to England to do so.
He described the girl's age of nine as a 'tad late' to start sexual activity, and that it was an 'honour' to be considered 'her first'.
I’m really starting to notice a pattern.
US adviser who flew to UK to rape child is jailed
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgn1l228eko
Before the trial, the defence argued that because Shy was in the US at the time of the messaging, he was jurisdictionally exempt from prosecution, the CPS said.
However, the prosecution successfully argued English courts have the jurisdiction to try offences committed abroad that are intended to result in criminal offences in England.
He was found not guilty of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
Shy previously worked as a senior adviser for Pakistan and Afghanistan during the Obama administration.
"the rationalist blog LessWrong"
They also published a Harry Potter fanfic, "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" which I found much more satisfying than the real books; its differences stem from his stepmother marrying a scientist and Harry learning rationality. He does things in school which I would have done, like trying small variations on spells to see how it affects the results, and with Hermione casting the spell without knowing what it's supposed to do. i like the originals, JK Rowling is a great writer, but HPMOR strikes me as just as good a read and much more "logical".
https://www.lesswrong.com/hpmor
That's what an adult rationalist would've done. A teenage rationalist would have been too busy showboating, tormenting Snape, and trying to cockblock Ron and bang Hermione, Ginny, Luna and every other girl he met.
That's what makes the fanfic book so much fun.
That's what an adult rationalist would've done.
An adult rationalist would've seen the movies with their kids, seen Ron and Neville and a couple other students make furry cups with tails, pass out when mishandling mandrakes, turn into cat (rat?) people with polyjuice potion, or blowing shit up with accidental variations on various potions (which was discussed); laughed with their kids or whomever they were Netflixing and Chilling with, and moved on with better things to do.
Of course, being the self-centered, but totally rational, narcissist that I am, I may be biased by the fact that Mrs. Casual and I watched the first four Harry Potter films while she was going into labor with our first.
I was 14 or 15 when the first book came out and just under 20 I think for the first movie.
That sounds unethical as Fvck, worse than Gain of Function research in a Chinese military lab.
Good thing we have common sense wizard control
There's something apropos about 'rationalist' (adults) re-writing children's fiction books (for other adults) because they're too fantastic and don't encourage the right kind of outside-the-box thinking or behavior.

Again, lukewarm sexy BDSM scenes, but it's not like we're going to get any near-peer footage of Emma Watson experimenting with anybody's wand out of LessWrong fanfic.
Cite what? Its not a secret that Erica Mitchell's '50 shades of gray' started out as a Twilight fanfic, got super-popular, was re-written to take the Twilight out, and sold.
I will be more informed of Erica Mitchell's career going forward.
I will not blame you in the least for failing to be aware of any spicy fanfic that comes out of the LessWrong forums.
In fact, I get the strong impression that if/when that happens, I will be jealous.

I'm just gonna say Sound Garden so at least one decent band gets mentioned in the thread.
The scene in "High Fidelity" when they are discussing Green Day is accurate regarding them being influenced by the Irish band Stiff Little Fingers (who are a much better band, live or recorded).
I actually really liked Dookie. Everything they did after that was garbage IMHO.
Saw them in concert at a civic center that was basically a big barn, had livestock shows there, right after Dookie came put because the lady wanted to go. It was entertaining considering. Agree about every thing after.
Canadians and your Nickelback.
Just because I think they were better than Metallica, doesn't mean I thought they were good.
It's kind of like how Balut is better eating than a soft turd.
Yeah but you also put them ahead of Britney Spears. Toxic was one of the best music videos of all time.
Btw, the reason for the Megedeth Metallica comparison is because David Mustaine got kicked out of Metallica and later formed Megadeth. It wasn’t a random band comparison, lol.
Yeah, I figured, but the thread took a life of its own.
Kirk Hammett commonly makes the list of worst guitarists of all time. I don't care for shredders, but he was good at what he did in his prime, but the internet is full of him fucking up in his later years. Hetfield on the other hand makes every list of greatest of all time rhythm guitarists. Mustain is respected in his genre over Hammett, for sure.
I get why you would disfavor Metallica though. They’re kinda the monkees of metal. If I was a true headbanger, I'd feel the same. But as a 90's grunge fan, Metallica has some overlap, unlike Megadeth.
Dragonforce are the Monkees of Metal.

Ya think they'd work for bad pay or conditions an actual US citizen would reject?
https://x.com/USTechWorkers/status/1881562266371523038
H-1B and F-1 student visas are non-immigrant visas. If holders have a child in the U.S., the child wouldn't receive birthright citizenship, following the same protocol as foreign diplomats, who are excluded from the 14th Amendment's provisions. They’d just be classified as ‘dependents’ on their parents’ visas.
They need to do that with the H-2As, too.
My understanding from talking with actual H1B holders is that, while the child is a citizen, they would not benefit from any chain migration until after the child is an adult so not quite a 'bang, you're a citizen' thing.
There are a rather absurd number of restrictions on them to help keep them complacent with crap treatment and deflated wages by holding the constant fear of deportation over their heads.
TBH - I would support scrapping the program altogether and handing existing visa holders a green card instead.

Even if not, she's obviously dumber than a box of rocks and almost certainly couldn't see the Trump Train about to run her over on Nov. 4, 2024. AFAICT, this "person" wasn't able to get their 3 yr. old to brush their teeth... because dentists and somebody on social media or something... until ChatGPT... started telling them how to make their kid brush their teeth?
My guess:
Dad gets to see his kid only every other weekend and he makes sure the kid brushes their teeth. Yet, the kid still ends up with cavities because Dad has no control over the 12 days between his visits. Dad knows Mom is incapable and asks the dentist to confirm. Not wanting to offend Mom, the dentist makes excuses...
I'm not sure how ChatGPT figures in (confirm Mom is worthless or spit out the same inoffensive excuses because it's programmed that way).

At various points, different Zizians have faked their own deaths, but the majority appear to be at large. "We still don't know the whereabouts of the people in this story who aren't either dead or in custody, and we sort of expect them to continue doing murders," writes Aella.
Do these Zizians really exist, or are they more like Antifa?
More importantly, is that dude in the picture Kevin bacon?
Its always funny how 'death cults' are always 'death to other people, not us' cults.
Too bad the Zizians weren't a little more Heaven's Gate, and a little less Charles Manson.
Well, if they off themselves first, there's a lot less opportunity for death. These don't seem like people who care a lot about preserving their own lives (or those of their comrades) in the long term.
Me, to the guy sitting next to me at the Waffle House bar as he desperately tries to signal the waitress for his check:
“So… there’s some splinter group of the Slate Star Codex ultra rationalists calling themselves the “Zizians” that’ve taken hyper-rationalism to its next logical step but in doing so have become kind of like the Manson family, gripped by a sort of neo-Benthamian extreme utilitarianism that’s led them to begin killing people in a quest to immanentize the eschaton in some manner…”

Also, 'transgender' and 'rationalist community'. Hahahaha! Berkely sure is a weird place.
> advocating "a ruthlessly enforced altruism towards all living creatures, and to follow the principle that it's never valid to surrender" and promoting "the punishment of 'non-good' people, particularly those who are not vegans,"
Kinda contradictory there. But they're totally rational and not batshit insane.
Clearly they consider “the punishment of non good people” to be altruistic “towards all living creatures.”
I’m sure it makes sense to them.
>"a form of sleep where only one half of the brain rests at a time,"
Games Workshop invented that 30 years ago;)
My current director of nurses only has one half of her brain awake, but the other side never seems to wake up, ever. Blind adherence to the textbook and overzealous application of regulations. In another unsurprising development, she last worked in Seattle, WA.
>high-tech veganism
What even is this?
Fancy hydro.
IMO, "high-tech veganism that promotes punishing your ideological enemies" sounds like regular veganism except more online.
I think Kelsey Piper is going to find out that she is incorrect on that last point.
And the State department will issue trans people passports - just with their *sex* listed, not 'identified' gender.
Or are we going to say sex is assigned at birth (rather than observed) again?
I’m due for renewing my passport. I’m going to request being referred to as “King R Mac”. I’ll get back to everyone how it goes.
It's possible there are some state department employees rebelling and pretending they can't help because of Trump to intentionally create a controversy. It wouldn't be the first time. The Air Force literally did this.
And I don't care either way. Women have been changing their names and (not) getting passports and other government documents for decades. My BIL and his husband hyphenated their last names when they got married like a couple of retards. No problem with them getting their passports.
It's the same bullshit whereby if Kim Davis goes against the LGBTQIA+ Church, acolytes burn her at the stake, (despite the fact that a 10 min. jaunt completely obviates her) but if mayors, DAs, and State Representatives across the country declare themselves Sanctuary locations and that they won't prosecute mostly peaceful protestors, even if they're burning down businesses and consuming resources from poor and minority communities, it's a good thing.
A *Los Angeles* 'passport agency' didn't process your submission for a passport? Not sorry, even in LA State and private agencies are not and cannot be required to accommodate your delusions. Your pet cause is not special. Fuck you, cut spending.
I think Kelsey Piper is going to find out that she is incorrect on that last point.
Again, I don't think Kelsey had the general social awareness to envision Trump winning a second term on Nov. 4th.
You showed up with mismatched documents to get your passport, got denied, and had all your documents seized. What's next? Are you going to cry because the local pizzeria won't cater your trans gender reveal party?
You had about 15 min. when you could effectively distract and confuse people that it was just an issue with "bigots" forcing you to pee in a stall in the men's room (which they owned). Your 15 min. are up. You aren't special any more. Instead of being self-serving and dishonest you could've actually helped out some actually mentally-afflicted people. Instead, you chose to support sexualizing and castrating children like a female dick.
Lizard "Stormy" Vollf and the Jesus Caucus have got to find or invent something next to which The Don looks saner than Mengele or Eichmann. Nobody else at Reason (besides Zach) helped knife our real candidate. Rotsa ruck in that endeavor...
headline: “criminals linked to group XYZ”
deep in the body: “group XYZ expelled them years ago”
i kinda think i've seen this pattern before
Pleased to meet you...
Hope you guessed my name
Apparently planes are just falling out of the sky this week.
Pete Buttigieg. he is the incompetent of the Dept of Trans
And thus go the "rationalists" ... they end up as crazy as Nebuchadnezzar believing that he is a cow.
Did you read it? Most are trans. .
