Brickbat: New Sheriff in Town

Jamey Noel, former Clark County, Indiana, sheriff and Republican Party chairman, has pleaded guilty to 27 felony counts, including theft, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, money laundering, corrupt business influence, and official misconduct. The charges stem from allegations that he used millions of dollars of taxpayer money for personal use, including vacations, high-end clothing, child support, and more. Noel agreed to pay $3.1 million in total restitution to four different agencies. The plea deal also calls for him to serve 12 years in prison and three years probation.

Started stealing in 2019. Strange how he, his wife, and daughter stole $4.4M and it took 4 years to notice.
Thanks for the link!!!
Reason, your in-story link is broken. Perhaps this is due to JD Vance being wrong.
The unholy alliance of politician and LEO.
Active-duty military can’t be active in-our-orifices politicians; WHY can LEOs do this, orificer? Orificers, get ye OUT of my orifices! Stop riding my backside; I am OUT of Vaseline and patience!
At the logical extreme, what happens if one person is cop, soldier, lawmaker, judge, jury, and executioner?
Sheesh, here's Reason with yet another ACAB story. It's obvious this poor domestic hero was railroaded.

This is a common story, a government employee steals millions and it takes years to find out. Taxpayers could save billions by implementing laws to have outside auditors audit every single government entity that spends money. And implementing commonly accepted accounting rules, such as the person signing the checks can't be the one who reconciles the bank accounts. And stop issuing credit cards to government employees. They just get abused. I've heard both of those more than once.
The charges stem from allegations that he used millions of dollars of taxpayer money for personal use, including vacations, high-end clothing, child support, and more.
Yea, that happens a lot. Like, a disturbing amount. But I think you got some of the facts messed up. When you said, "sheriff and Republican Party chairman" surely you meant "DEI hire and Democrat," right?
Oh, was this an exception? Because it seems weird that you'd bring up this case, and not take the opportunity to mention the avalanche of similar corruption and self-dealing among other people in similar positions.
The super shitty part is that the rat bastard gets to keep his pension by Indiana statute.
I'm just wondering what the corrupt sheriff's political affiliation has to do with the dirt bag stealing money.
Trained journalists always list the party affiliation of a misbehaving politician - unless it's a Democrat.
