What's More Popular Than Taylor Swift? Capitalism.
Other things less popular with American voters than capitalism: Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, J.D. Vance, and socialism.

A global phenomenon that is astonishingly productive and creative, generating untold sums of wealth by enriching other people's lives and making them obsessed with new material they never knew they wanted—all while shaking off the haters, constantly inventing new eras, and achieving phenomenal popularity.
I'm referring, obviously, to capitalism.
The system of market economics driven by the profit motive and backed by the private decision-making of individuals is even more popular than global music superstar Taylor Swift, according to a recent NBC survey of registered voters.
In that poll, 51 percent of respondents said they view capitalism positively, while just 25 percent view it negatively. That's a +26 approval rating for capitalism, which dwarves the ratings given to such prominent politicians as Vice President Kamala Harris (+3), President Joe Biden (-8), and former President Donald Trump (-13). Even Swift, who recently endorsed Harris, scores just +6, with 33 percent of respondents having positive feelings about her.
Socialism, meanwhile, is liked by just 18 percent and disliked by 55 percent of respondents. (It does, however, poll better than the Heritage Foundation's "Project 2025," which tells you something about how disastrous the roll-out of that agenda has been for the conservative think tank.)
Polling all this is a bit silly, of course, but it's a nice reminder that the political class on both left and right are out of touch with the views of most Americans. Most people understand that markets have been a positive thing—a solution to the obscene levels of poverty that plagued humanity for most of its existence—rather than a problem requiring government action to control.
In fact, if Republicans were eager to counter-balance Swift's endorsement of Harris with an even more potent ally of their own, they might try courting the capitalist vote. That would, however, require the GOP's current leaders to abandon their interest in protectionism, their eagerness to tell private businesses what they can buy and sell, and other forms of economic illiteracy.
After all, capitalism being more popular than Swift makes sense. You could have capitalism without Swift, but you could never have Swift—or any other modern pop star—without an underlying economic system that rewards talented individuals, offers extra incentives to be creative, and provides the rest of us with the wealth necessary to support her art.
And it will still be here long after she's gone out of style.

Is this the pop singer that is dating some recently retired sportsball participant?
They are both tools, but Jason Kelce retired. Taylor dates Travis who is still playing.
If only they were Mormon.
And it will still be here long after she’s gone out of style.
Capitalism is on the line! Most important election of our lifetimes! Democrats are going to make the country communist!
-team red every election
A country can be nominally capitalist while controlling virtually every other aspect of its citizens’ economic and personal lives, except for those, like Taylor Swift and most members of the entertainment and political class who are wealthy enough that the rules will never apply to them. This is the foundation of the Democrat party’s power.
Swift is a spectacularly successful capitalist. She singlehandedly remade the entire music industry, destroying the iron grip of oligarchic conglomerates. The rules did apply to her, so she changed the rules -- legally. Without paying bribes, I mean campaign contributions, to politicians. And without lawfare. She will be studied in business schools a century from now.
I don’t know what drug your on but it is clearly strong
Her dad bought her way in, and he was friends with Toby Keith who propped her up.
I didn’t know business schools studied cults who follow mediocre singers. Swift’s success is her fan base and I guess you could say she is one of the first pop singers to build a massive social media following which made her a superstar, but you could say she just benefited from the social media revolution, rather than changing the rules.
Swift’s success is her fan base
so she is the Apple computers of music
That mostly applies to the revival. Her early career is a more authentic in message. Once she's a multi-millionaire dating other famous multi-millionaires the relatability deficit grows. Now as a billionaire "product" whatever.
"A country can be nominally capitalist while controlling virtually every other aspect of its citizens’ economic and personal lives"
That is in fact the MAGA platform. DeSantis showed that in Florida private businesses in fact do NOT have First Amendment rights. Trump has called for the imprisonment of businessmen who defy him. Trump wants to add over eight trillion dollars to the national debt; that will mess up most of our economic lives.
So ending special protections is bad?
Charlie, you conveniently ignore the blue state AGs and governors who bully every business that makes something they don’t approve of or won’t accept the woke agenda.
When one reads comments like this, one gets the impression that the Democrats are a bunch of hip-swiveling, let-it-all-hang-out, free market, Gordon Gecko, greed-is-good, Porcfest-attending, dice-rolling, "Mamma needs a new pair of shoes"-shouting, risk-taking, swashbuckling profit-before-all capitalists.
Oddly enough that isn't what happened when I read the comment.
Well, I read how awful Literally worse than Hitler and Literally worse than Donald Trump are, and I imagined how the OP must imagine the opposition...
"That is in fact the MAGA platform..."

And every time they win an election we get more economic communism and threats of gun control, specifically confiscations.
Sounds exactly like incremental communism.
The real question is why politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who aren't really socialists at all, call themselves that. They are welfare state advocates but they don't want the government to nationalize most industries which is the definition of socialism. (A lot of ignorant commenters here don't even realize that.)
The real question is why politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who aren’t really socialists at all, call themselves that.
I always figured it's because they're the dimmest bulbs on the tree.
You do know the difference between old, heavy-industry, 19th/early 20th century Marxism and 21st century Marxism, right? Hell, Herbert Marcuse, godfather of the New Left said "the working class were no longer the base for the revolution". Further, he said that those who clung to this old style of Marxism were "communists of strict obedience". They're dinosaurs. As Marx himself stated, the socialists would inherit and fruits of the Capitalist era.
And remember it was Sanders who said bread lines were "a good thing". So Sanders is probably more of a communist of strict obedience.

Not Communist, Socialist. The Democrats even admit it.
One country, two systems.
You don’t have to zoom in too much to see that Swift is showing some bush and cameltoe in that photo…
You have an active imagination.
I'm pretty sure Swift has people to make sure a wardrobe malfunction like that never happens.
I’m not so sure about that, it could be an intentional malfunction for body positivity, and her image is so wholesome that even those who might notice it probably refuse to believe their eyes.
I don't think those are even real legs.
I assumed if I looked too close I might see a little penis.
Maybe AI is slowly altering photos of Swift to make her a tranny
It is 2024 - if she doesn't get a penis soon she is going to become irrelevant.
offers extra incentives to be creative,
Have you heard modern music?
GTFO with this creative bullshit.
No shit. Listen to Tomorrow never knows , then realize that was in 1966.
The AI that generates and writes their music is indeed more creative than the artist themselves one might assume, at least in pop specifically.
Not sure if we're actually there yet or not, but I honestly couldn't tell you one song Swift has done so it's clearly not in a genre I listen to and I listen to a lot of music from just about every genre.
Yet, somehow, not one of her songs has ever played on my Pandora list. Very odd.
Same here. Totally disposable music.
LOL... Boehm; should've known.
How's it "if Republicans were eager to counter-balance Swift's endorsement of Harris" they'd (everything mentioned; tarrifs) when the Left also pitches Tariffs?
That doesn't even make sense what-so-ever.
Is stopping the CCP from buying-up US Soil really Anti-Capitalism or just downright National Defense? Maybe the Nation shouldn't be on the market "For Sale" for foreign nations. Maybe the Nation is an enclave of the Nations citizens.
I love capitalism because it gives me money to purchase needful and sometimes useless items.
I love Taylor "not too" Swift because she makes me laugh every time she talks about politics.
As usual The Bee nailed it perfectly:
Woman Who Made Career Singing About Her Bad Choices Endorses Kamala
Other things less popular with American voters than capitalism: Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, J.D. Vance, and socialism.
One of these people isn't running for office, and there's one missing from the lineup.
There’s something about Taylor that’s just not that sexy.
In principle she should be very attractive, but she just looks totally fake to me. And that thing where women open their mouths and show teeth but aren't really smiling is weird and not very attractive if you ask me.
She's certainly attractive. I would never call her unattractive, but I get this sense that she's pushing "sex object" as part of her image, but I just don't feel the energy. As they say...
In principle she should be very attractive, but she just looks totally fake to me.
Yeah. To me, it stems from the fact that her celebrity feels similarly virtual. Not to be all “She’s a CIA asset.” but if her celebrity career/persona had been invented by AI, I’d say it needs to do a better job.
So, recently, there’s been a spate of NKOTB or NSYNC or whatever *laundry ads*. I’ve never seen a concert and outside getting the joke in the commercial couldn’t name a song. But I know the posters and t-shirts, every girl had one. Couldn’t go to a party without hearing their songs. *They* knew their songs. Even back to The Beatles I can see their merch and pull up mental images of screaming fans on TV and I wasn’t even there. The whole fad was so pervasive they’re using it to advertise to Moms 30 yrs. later.
I don’t see, hear, or get any of that from Swift. The whole thing feels astroturfed or like a psyop by a Qanon-esque fanboi faction of the internet. I’ve never seen a t-shirt. I don’t know anybody who talks about her outside of football or political endorsements. I don’t know anyone who’s been to a concert. I don’t hear her songs on the radio or in other people’s cars… all I ever see is photos of her looking over her shoulder or, like the photo above, standing against a dark, out-of-focus, or both background.
She’s as big or bigger than The Beatles or Michael Jackson but for all the iconic photos of The Beatles or Michael Jackson, all the album covers, all the signature riffs and notes, I couldn’t identify one single similar thing for Swift, aside from regret/breakup themes. She’s a massive hit among people who give zero shits about music. She’s the queen of modern, straight-to-elevator-muzak pop.
Absolutely. she has all the sexual energy of a white table napkin. I actually find some of her tunes catchy but as to being what would normally called ‘sexy’? …. she and her team of image makers try but she just doesnt have – IT (at least to me)
For me i think bigger real boobs would help. Thats whats made Katie Perry successful - it certainly isnt her music.
It's the Lena Dinham connection. Nothing washes off the stink of Nurgle.
Your typical poll respondent has forgotten, or been trained to forget, that public schools, public roads, public libraries, national parks, social security, medicare, etc. are at once SOCIALIST and POPULAR. The typical respondent is also unaware of our largest socialist projects, which are subsidies to the richest. Big Oil (while public attention is diverted toward "green" incentives!); Medicare forbidden to negotiate drug prices with Big Pharma [until Biden] -- an outright handout from taxpayers to Republican donors. The carried interest loophole persists. Top marginal rates slashed by Bush and slashed again by Trump; giant subsidies to industrial corn, soybeans, etc. These things -- socialism for the rich, i.e. crony capitalism -- are UNPOPULAR, yet only Bernie Sanders and AOC dare run on platforms opposing them. Your piece is a fluffy trifle which utterly ignores the substance of the matter.
