All Aboard the Vasectomy Van
Plus: Protesters at the DNC, anarcho-brat summer, V.C.s supporting Trump, and more...

I cannot get enough of the Democratic National Convention vasectomy van: Imagine, in an election where, thus far, one party has positioned itself as pro-family—to the point where "childless cat ladies" have become a focal point, brought to the fore by vice-presidential contender J.D. Vance's catty, mean-spirited cable news comments—the other party is parking vasectomy and abortion vans outside of the convention.
Technically, it's Planned Parenthood Great Rivers doing it, making reproductive rights—and the Republican Party's attack on them—a focal point of this convention. But Democrats are, more broadly, all over the place this first night of the DNC, as if they can't quite figure out what they're all about or where they want to go, whether they're the party of joy or a party that just dealt with a succession crisis, or a party that's riven by the Israel-Hamas conflict or a party that stands in defiance of purported Republican attacks on essential freedoms.
Consider the new ad, unveiled by Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign:
DNC airs new "Freedom" ad to kick off the Democratic Convention pic.twitter.com/lXLqKi2rAN
— Kamala HQ (@KamalaHQ) August 20, 2024
But such an ad assumes Americans have short memories. Ones that forget all the regulations Democrats have imposed that have driven up housing costs. Ones that forget how people were not enjoying freedom when they were shut inside their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, or forced to stay home from school and church, by blue-staters. Ones that forget the last decade of (Democrat-enforced) culture war language policing and hypersensitivity to all manner of grievance. Democrats aren't really the party of freedom, they're the party of dictating, in ways big and small, how you live, either for your own good or the greater good, as they define it.
What exactly are they for? The first night of the DNC was a good reminder of the party's schizophrenia. New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D–N.Y.) speech was excellent, proving that they have at least one promising young talent waiting in the wings. Formerly an outsider given a paltry 90-second speaking slot, Ocasio-Cortez has earned her spot as a Democratic Party mainstay, a primetime speaker whose name is chanted by an adoring arena. (This undeniable charisma is bad for the rest of us, mind you, as Ocasio-Cortez is economically illiterate and embraces Bernie Sanders-style socialism.)
At times, they veered away from light-touch diversity—a raft of speakers from all different backgrounds—and toward more explicit identity politics. Hillary Clinton's speech was all about shattering the glass ceiling. Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison emphasized that a "black convention chair and a black D.N.C. chair lead us in nominating a black and [Asian American and Pacific Islander] woman to be the next president," saying that "this election is about every little boy inspired by a party chair who looks like them, and every little girl who will finally see a president who looks like her." (I highly doubt young children are paying attention to the party chair.)
This emphasis—on being a candidate of firsts, on the "I'm with her" mentality—is especially interesting because it's one Harris has steered away from, ostensibly learning from the mistakes of Clinton's failed 2016 run. Ocasio-Cortez directly inverted this emphasis in her speech, shifting from voters being with the candidate to the candidate being with the voters. "If you are a working parent trying to afford rent and childcare, Kamala is for you," said Ocasio-Cortez. "If you are a senior who has to go back to work because your retirement didn't stretch far enough, Kamala is for you. If you're an immigrant family just starting your American story, Kamala is for you."
Everyone who covered 2016 will overthink that race forever, but AOC's "Kamala is for you" sounds like the inversion of "I'm with her."

Oh, and President Joe Biden also spoke. He didn't really say much of note. It was fine. But the fanfare was…aggressive, thanking Biden constantly for his service, for his leadership, for everything. Also, implicitly, for stepping aside and putting the presidency back in play.
The shenanigans also turned destructive: Outside of the security perimeter, protesters—a smaller turnout than was expected—succeeded at tearing down gates and fencing.

— Nancy Rommelmann (@NancyRomm) August 19, 2024
Things turned chaotic:
Last vid of the day. Two funny things: the protesters saying to the cops, "Don't hurt her!" and, once I wriggled out of the fencing (with the help of two dudes pulling me), who is standing there cool as a cucumber saying, "Hello Nancy" but @mcmoynihan. Hello from Chicago! pic.twitter.com/vjhFdnREj9
— Nancy Rommelmann (@NancyRomm) August 20, 2024
There were also some protesters inside:
Group of protesters with their backs turned to Biden and hands over their mouths. They're quiet. So far unmolested by officials or security. pic.twitter.com/VuKcwc1Kzc
— Alex Seitz-Wald (@aseitzwald) August 20, 2024
It remains to be seen how much trouble the protesters will cause, and how the situation in Gaza will be discussed on the main stage, but the protests outside were a decidedly inauspicious start.
Scenes from New York: Why does 3.5 grams of weed, purchased legally, cost $60 in New York, while unlicensed bodegas are selling for $40? Some of it also has to do with the federal, state, and local taxes (including 13 percent sales tax upon purchase) that must be forked over by dispensaries, as well as the security systems they must put in place to keep their wares safe. They're also trying to recoup the costs of legal fees and securing expensive licenses to operate legally.
Basically, everywhere a legit entrepreneur turns, the state has made it quite expensive for them to simply open up a cannabis business. And a big chunk of that cost gets passed down to the consumer.
QUICK HITS
- "Democrats begin their four-day national convention Monday in the city that perhaps best exemplifies the chasm between their party's dreamy policy rhetoric and grim real-world results," writes Reason's Matt Welch. "As a direct result of one-party misrule (there are zero Republicans on the 50-seat City Council), Chicago's tax base is decreasing, not increasing. The population has declined for nine consecutive years, is shrinking by an annual rate of 1 percent, and is at its lowest point in more than a century."
- Anarcho-brat summer (if you're confused, read this):
Anarcho-brat flag flown at March on the DNC. pic.twitter.com/BFptgEUGa0
— Ford Fischer (@FordFischer) August 19, 2024
- "US job growth in the year through March was likely far less robust than initially estimated, which risks fueling concerns that the Federal Reserve is falling further behind the curve to lower interest rates," reports Bloomberg.
- Protests are still happening in Venezuela, where Nicolas Maduro has wrongly declared himself victorious in the latest presidential election (and refused to release results corroborating the outcome).
- On Friday, The San Francisco Standard published a piece titled "How ex-liberal billionaires Ben and Felicia Horowitz made a MAGA U-turn," which essentially spends a lot of words grappling with the idea that Felicia, a black woman, could not possibly authentically support former President Donald Trump, and that there must be some kind of mental derangement at play:
Wow, @micsolana nails it exactly. Amazing. @PirateWires for the win. pic.twitter.com/ikUrZrTJeZ

https://thefederalist.com/2024/08/16/j6-praying-grandma-slammed-with-six-figure-fine-and-probation-for-walking-around-capitol/
According to the Denver Post, Lavrenz, who avoided jail time, “was sentenced Monday to 12 months of probation and six months of home detention with an internet restriction” in addition to “more than $103,000 in fines, restitution and special assessments.”
“I went through a door that opened in front of me, and I walked through the Capitol. I carried God’s presence into that building for about 10 minutes, walked out, did not shout, stayed within the lines, and was not stopped by any police officers and walked back out,” she said.
That's an existential threat to "our Democracy" if I ever heard of one, not like the good protests for marxist causes filled with theft, vandalism, arson and a bit of murder and secession thrown in for fun.
Has Laverenz ever voted for Trump or had an abortion?
Do those two actions offset or something?
Restitution to whom?
AOC. She almost died.
I cannot get enough of the Democratic National Convention vasectomy van...
DNC: Snipping Your Nuts Since The Bush Administration
Judging from the picture, it looks like they give you a cookie with your DNC mobile vasectomy.
That former guy is carrying out his former balls in a to-go bag.
But those are toxic waste!
^nice
Upon further review, keeping these loons from reproducing is a good thing. MOAR snippy vans! MOAR food trucks.
But not the food truck next to the van.
Especially when that food truck is offering a variation on "rocky mountain oysters."
keeping these loons from reproducing is a good thing
Pretty much what I've been thinking since hearing about this; these are definitely exactly the people who should not be reproducing, so it's great that they are willingly exiting the gene pool.
This is why I can't get too worked up over abortion.
When faced with telling my wife my girlfriend is pregnant or getting a vasectomy in a mobile vasectomy van, I would just choose to avoid the Democratic Convention altogether.
Propaganda works. Can even see it in the commentary of liberaltarians here.
only has Harris received 66% more airtime than former President Donald Trump, but the spin of Harris’s coverage has been more positive (84%) than any other major party nominee, even as Trump’s coverage has been nearly entirely hostile (89% negative).
https://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/rich-noyes/2024/08/19/study-networks-deliver-massive-media-honeymoon-kamala-harris
Rules don't matter when you're fighting for democracy.
Trust the experts.
The dichotomy of the articles placed side by side of:
"Harris benevolent savior of the masses, proposing no tax on tips"
vs
"Trumps reckless no tax on tips policy and how it will bankrupt america"
is the perfect snapshot of the press's "Joy" PR campaign for KAmala
And to think we used to focus on killing all the lawyers.
But such an ad assumes Americans have short memories.
We seem to have the memory span that corporate journalism wants us to have.
Everything about Democrats is fake. Kamala schedules a stop at Pimanti Bros in Pittsburgh. Has entire restaurant closed down, customers booted. Brings in actors to pose as diners. Pretends to have a natural stop of adoring voters at restaurant.
https://x.com/JohnLeFevre/status/1825348256009785672
They can't even go in a convenience store that her administration is suing without it being totally fake.
Cmon man. It was totally natural to think she was too incompetent to find Doritos and both Waltz and her husband had to find her a bag.
politicians in general always look ridiculous in grocery store bits
Harris especially. Oz was notably bad
I remember Bush not knowing about scanning. I thought that was at least honest; who believes that a male politician at that level at that time did any grocery shopping?
Another media created myth.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/bush-scanner-demonstration/
If journalists didn't make shit up (and repeat shit that others made up) what would they do all day?
What they do now. Happy hour cocktail parties.
Dox ordinary people who post opinions they don't like on X.
Yes, I knew that. I just meant even if it had been true, it was understandable.
Scanners weren't even that common until the early 80s. I still remember cashiers typing in the prices for our groceries when I was a little kid around that time, although most stores got retrofitted with them by the mid-80s or so.
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D–N.Y.) speech was excellent, proving that they have at least one promising young talent waiting in the wings.
For politicking if not necessarily for legislating.
Holy shit, if she’s the best they have, look out below.
It is odd in that she is the only one that doesn't seem drunk near leadership and she was the bartender.
Below her teeth is the best place to look, yes.
Link to WSJ paywalled article.
It turns out the loan forgiveness for student loans just caused people to get more credit and more credit card debt.
https://archive.is/cF5J2
Shocking, next they'll surprise us all by announcing water is wet.
“more credit card debt.”
The people that couldn’t pay off one debt incurred more? Crazy stuff. I hope people aren’t paying too much for that WSJ subscription.
Why I gave the link around the paywall =)
To be fair to the WSJ, there does seem to be a disturbingly large segment of the population that cannot know anything unless they've been given permission to observe the obvious by some authority.
Don't worry about it. They put it on their credit card. They got a limit increase when the government paid off their student loan debt.
Why not? Their algorithm said they're more credit-worthy since they paid off their debt.
since THEY paid off their debt
When did that happen?
Now we have another unfair, greedy type of debt for Democrats to forgive.
They know who to blame for the usury.
The sob story in that article was hoping that having her student debt forgiven would enable her to get a student loan for her child entering college.
Wow. Multigenerational debt slaves. Her education really paid off.
Rick Atkinson, writing about the French forces toward the end of WWII, (dependent on the US for just about everything) mentions that they 'suffered all the pathologies caused by dependency'; this is true in many cases.
Sort of like the revealed effect of UBI?
Outside of the security perimeter, protesters—a smaller turnout than was expected—succeeded at tearing down gates and fencing.
Viva la revolución!
Without Soros footing the bills as usual, how were the protesters supposed to get there?
Not a single store in Milwaukee boarded up their businesses when thousands of Republicans came to the RNC.
These business owners are boarding up ahead of the DNC.
Why are Democrats always so violent?
Pulling down fences seems a bit insurrectiony.
Nobody got shot in the face?
That made me laugh my ass off. What a bunch of fucking posers.
The Virgin 2024 “anarchist” vs. the Chad 1968 Communist. Pathetic.
What republican attack on reproductive rights?
You know. State voter choice. 5 months to decide if you want to kill the baby. Over the counter birth control. Those nefarious things.
The one where if Republicans don't give women like ENB everything they ask for they swear to God they're going to back to the bad old days of shoving wire coathangers up women's vaginas in back alleys and they're taking all of us other motherfuckers with them!
I don't recall Republicans telling people they can't reproduce. On the other hand Democrats have eagerly told people to avoid reproduction (or done it for them).
Why does 3.5 grams of weed, purchased legally, cost $60 in New York, while unlicensed bodegas are selling for $40?
The black market remains unbeaten.
Those black market guys aren’t paying their fair share.
"The black market "
Finally, a market that looks like me
In my backyard garden I grew about 200 square feet of black beans and harvested about $5 worth of beans.
I grew about 4 sq feet of weed and harvested ~$20,000 dollars worth of weed according to the figures above. The beans are more work to harvest too.
Anyone in the market for $200 tomato or a $90 yellow squash?
Are you saying the beans have little value because they are black?
Kind of...
Because they have to be sold on the black bean market, they obviously bring less value. But alas social justice prevents me from growing more valuable oppressor beans.
Bean color is the most important thing.
Bean color is the most important thing.
Switch to saffron.
No way! Are you mad?
There are some good recipes with saffron and chickpeas.
Think the joke with how much a pain getting saffron is, why is is so expensive.
There's no shortage of illegal weed spots here, but man, the legal ones provide a much better experience. Nicer storefronts and retail spaces, way more purchasing options (products, THC counts, hybrid splits, flower strains - to name a few differences), huge staff (not just a guard or two and some ditzy assbag behind the counter), more reliable branded products, and better bud (though some illegal spots carry just as good weed, but the legal ones don't carry shit that is old and subpar that your unlicensed dispensary might).
If you have a dependable unlicensed spot you like then it's probably good and worth sticking with for the pricing. If you're throwing the dice on vendors the premium on the licensed spot is going toward an observably better experience.
'Technically, it's Planned Parenthood Great Rivers doing it, making reproductive rights'
Can we please use objective words? Abortion and neutering people are not "reproductive rights". They are mechanisms to prevent reproduction. If they are rights at all, they enable people to have sex without consequences.
Which seems to fit Democrats in general, who promote all kinds of "rights" to absolve people of consequences.
Abortion and vasectomies are “reproductive” in the same way executions and labour camps are "civil rights".
NEW: At the pro-abortion rally in Chicago: "Reproductive justice means Palestinian liberation."
What about Climate Change?
"Spoiled bananas means satiated dragonflies."
As a direct result of one-party misrule (there are zero Republicans on the 50-seat City Council), Chicago's tax base is decreasing, not increasing.
I blame Republicans.
Of course, if the Dems ruled everywhere there would be no place to flee.
I recall that argument being used by the Soviets; we ALL have to get on board to make communism work!
"We're all in this together!"
So a fun story of election fortification.
Michigan election laws require equal distribution of election workers among the parties. Democrat controlled election boards willfully violate the law, ensuring vast majority of workers are democrats.
The records indicate Detroit hired 2,827 total poll workers and of those, approximately 10 percent were Republicans, missing the 50 percent mark by a country mile.
And even those Republicans hired mostly vote Democrat.
Of those 143 identified Republican poll workers, 44 requested Democrat ballots in the 2024 Presidential primary; 35 requested Democrat ballots in two primary elections (2024 and 2022), 27 requested Democrat ballots in three primaries (2024, 2022, and 2020), and 25 requested Democrat ballots in all 4 primaries (2024, 2022, 2020, and 2018).
https://thefederalist.com/2024/08/16/gop-mostly-shut-out-of-2024-watchdog-poll-worker-positions-in-detroit/
Control the process. Control the results.
Pretty sure nobody has standing to challenge this.
Shooting from a prone position is much more effective than standing.
Well, in the past, I would sometimes request a democrat primary ballot, if there was only one or zero candidates on the other parties, and especially if a democrat was going to win the general election anyway.
Same reason I requested a republican ballot in our most recent primary, a couple weeks ago. The libertarians only had one candidate for each spot (I thought they didn't normally do public primaries?), and the democrats were unlikely to win, either statewide or in my district, so if I wanted a say in who wasn't going to be the next governor, that was the clear choice.
$100 says that dude in the pic thought getting a vasectomy in a van was going to get him out of the friend zone.
$100? Do you have odds against your assertion about the friend zone vs. the assumption that it's a dude and saving the environment?
I'd take 8:1 odds on the former and 6:1 odds on the latter.
I'm confident in my assessment. Based on how he's dressed, he's not an eco-nerd. He likely drove his purple-haired pixie and her friends to Chicago, paying for the hotel rooms. Then they saw this van and he was all, "you know what would impress her and show her how committed to the cause I am?".
So, he floated it out there like, "wouldn't it be cool if I got snipped right now?" And she was all, "yeah, you should totally do it!" Now he's walking out with his nuts in a bag and gives them to her like, "they've always been yours." And she says, "oh, shit. like, we're cool and all, but like, I have a boyfriend back home."
I’m confident in my assessment.
Yeah. That's supposed to be reflected in the 6:1 and 8:1 odds. I'm not very confident, but if there's a chance that ~$12 would pay out at $100 or $100 would pay out at ~$800, you're on. I'll take a pass on even money.
Have you never been to Chicago? 🙂
US job growth in the year through March was likely far less robust than initially estimated...
Sounds like we need a robust job market for job market estimators.
""US job growth in the year through March was likely far less robust than initially estimated, which risks fueling concerns that the Federal Reserve is falling further behind the curve to lower interest rates," reports Bloomberg."
This is another piece of legislation that should be absolutely passed in the next term. Remove the requirement of the Fed to prioritize "Job Growth". Their duty must be to tame inflation, and only tame inflation.
Inflation is currently at 2.9%- almost 50% above target (A target itself that is its own crime against humanity). The Fed's job should be to return us to target, not bow to the Corporatist hand-wringers at Bloomberg who cloak their desire for easy bank loans and inflated stock prices in the populist language of "Job Growth".
I would rather the fed just end. Trying to control inflation at 2% is just a means yo make debt cost less and remove incentives from savings. The entire reason behind the fed was to limit economic drops, but those are required to reallocate resources. Recessions last longer due to fed meddling. Inflation is a tax on the lower classes. It saves failing business through low cost loans tied to inflation policy.
Government shouldn't be trying to control the economy in this manner.
The Peronistas of Argentina used the same means yo disastrous results.
Oh I certainly would prefer we eliminate the Fed. But the likelihood of that happening any time soon is extremely low. You might as well suggest that we no longer have police- people just take for granted that the Fed is a necessary bulwark against financial chaos.
On the other hand, it is plainly obvious the contradiction between taming inflation and ensuring job growth- that the latter too easily encourages or requires ignoring the former. This law was made in 1978- at the height of Economic Fantastical Arrogance and Stupidity, when Congress and the presidency are now historically ridiculed for the stupid shit they pulled. This should be a much easier thread to pull.
Considering their calculations require use of government spending and government jobs, probably more effective to just force exclusion of those.
Yes! Well, maybe, I may misunderstand "drops".
Lookee here, inflation 1800-2005, or google for the same. Inflation was steady at almost nothing until the Fed in 1913. Rose during wars, deflated afterwards, little burbles all along the way which are just routine for real money in real markets dependent on real commodities; it would probably burble less nowadays that seasonal and variable raw resources are not the main industrial driver.
The inflation from WW I started to naturally deflate after the war, but the Fed stepped in because deflation was evil. Luckily for everybody except himself. Woodrow had a stroke and was incapacitated and the Dems hid that and no one else wanted to take charge and give the dirty secret legs. Sounds familiar, the only difference being Biden's handlers wanted to get rid of him.
The primary impetus of the fed when originally argued was to control the number of recessions by limiting growth and devaluations of markets. The concern was the number of minor quick depressions that were occurring as the country transitioned from agricultural to manufacturing bases.
While the number of recessions dropped, the length of each one massively increased as the fed simply delayed reallocation of resources in markets.
I spent some time trying to understand the Panic of 1907 which was one impetus for the Fed, and was surprised (I was naive at the time, that's my excuse!) to find each Panic was ultimately a result of "fixes" for previous Panics, leading back to 1819, which was a typical reaction to ham-fisted government fixes for recovering from the ham-fisted War of 1812.
Protests are still happening in Venezuela...
There's no stopping the steal.
Protests? I think you mean insurrection against the cleanest election ever.
Binion not even hiding his hypocrisy:
YouTube demonetized this video because it mentions “election fraud”—despite that it discusses election fraud in *Venezuela* where a dictator who has destroyed the country just literally stole an election. These content moderation policies are so infantilizing & counterproductive.
https://x.com/billybinion/status/1825357535420850331
Lol. Sad.
I do not understand how anyone could be so unaware of the hypocrisy. I believe it, I just don't understand it.
Why do people trust government so much, especially purported libertarian writers?
To be fair, people are selective about government worship, depending on party brand. And actual libertarians are more rare than ever.
It was the same with Reason writers' condemnation of “Putin targeting his political enemies,” while cheering on the lawfare aimed at Trump.
It's absolutely fucking hilarious how Maduro is using the exact same PR playbook the western left has employed the last four years.
The China links between Waltz is pretty crazy. 30 trips. Luxurious funding of him as a teacher, making double pay. Special celebrations just for him. Waltz buying multiple copies of Maos Little Red Book as gifts.
All this while he supposedly held security clearances as a member of the national guard. These gifts are normally required reportable to DoD.
https://freebeacon.com/elections/walz-praised-chinese-communism-as-a-system-where-everyone-shares/
No wonder China was ecstatic at his pick for VP.
Didn't you know that all down-to-earth, aw-shucks mid-western dads go to China a couple dozen times? It's normal!
As soon as I take my next 30 trips, we'll be tied.
Yeah, like as soon as I get 30 years older, I'll be tied with my parents.
Ha, perfect establishment Democrat then.
Seems like he'll fit right in with Gen. Millie and the rest of the swamp creatures.
And a hell of a deal, too. He only wants 8%.
Walz has the same fondness for the CCP as Bernie did for the Soviet Union.
I bought two little pocket copies of Mao’s little red book when my ship visited Hong Kong, sometime 74-76. One Chinese, one English, little tiny font I could barely read even then. Got a dirty look from a chief when I came back onboard. Great souvenirs. But gifts, to give away? Fuhgeddaboudit! You live on a carrier for 3+ years, earn it!
I'm sure you didn't praise Mao and communism as "sharing" in newspapers like Waltz did.
I'm sure my shipmates and I had fun finding stupid quotes, but I don't remember any and haven't looked at them, or even for them, in ages.
I probably ought to be them in a little trophy showcase to confuse visitors.
My kid brought back a Chinese sailor cap. Big red star in the middle. Very round. Some Chinese sailor is running around with a US Navy cap.
Odds that Walz met Hunter in China?
Weird positive spin on last nights speeches.
The fake Joe is a hero. The normal lies like fine good people. They spent almost as much time talking about Trump as they did Joe. Calls for control of the economy. More identitarian politics. Joe even praised the protestors outside saying they had a good point as they called for war in America and the destruction of Israel.
The tenor of this article against the RNC coverage is just strange. Nothing positive was said last night from a policy perspective.
Look at how their last few policy proposals were received, even by their propagandists and nothing policy wise WAS their version of positive.
"Oh, and President Joe Biden also spoke. He didn't really say much of note. It was fine. But the fanfare was…aggressive, thanking Biden constantly for his service, for his leadership, for everything. Also, implicitly, for stepping aside and putting the presidency back in play."
They know he's still actually the president, right?
They also pushed biden past 11pm est. Making sure the least number of people were watching.
Not former President James Taylor!
They know he’s still actually the president, right?
There is little evidence to confirm that.
Isn't now, never was.
We have no idea who is running the country.
That's why Kammy is qualified.
Protests are still happening in Venezuela, where Nicolas Maduro has wrongly declared himself victorious in the latest presidential election (and refused to release results corroborating the outcome).
Be careful Liz. Sullum and other writers will declare you a conspiracy theorist and election denier for not going with government election narratives.
I saw some of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's speech and this woman has real political talent. She will have to move more to the center to move up, but I think she has the talent to do this. What struck me this political season is that both Republican and Democrats have good benches of talent coming up. I think the Republicans are hamstrung by the MAGA crowd, but they could break out in the future.
Parody.
Imbecility.
Fucktardary.
Brilliant analysis. It almost matches yesterdays:
"It was Trump’s people that invented “fake news” so “fake polls” seem a logical next step."
Particularly this laugher of a statement:
She will have to move more to the center to move up,
It would be hard to move much more leftwards.
She's pretty much at the edge of the universe politically.
No, you are incorrect. Both M4E and AOC are "moderates" right now. It's even in M4E's screen name!
Poor m4e.
I think he's a professional gas lighter. Insidiously likes to drop comments as if they're personal insights, when in actuality he's just pushing the D narrative.
I have more respect for Pluggo, Jeffy, et al, because they're being their asshole selves and not pretending to be otherwise.
I scrolled by it muted and it looked like a deranged rachet ass hood rat with cocaine eyes
Leave my high school girlfriends out of this.
What is the "MAGA crowd" and what are they doing to hamstring the republicans?
Carrying around fake cups of JD Vance jizz?
I thought it was Walz who drank (horse) semen.
Well, if anyone would know about taking money shots, it would be your girl Kacklin' Kammy.
Hey windycityattorney, what are your thoughts on this article?
https://reason.com/2024/08/19/democrats-unburdened-by-what-they-have-done-to-chicago/
'But such an ad assumes Americans have short memories.'
And partisan biases, general ignorance, and emotional reasoning.
That's why democracy always destroys itself.
Fuck you Liz. Describing the modern Democrat party as bitter cat ladies is a succinct and accurate description that lines up with demographics and research on attitudes, not mean spirited, at least not compared to the lawfare and agitprop of Democrats that declares disagreement a "threat to our Democracy". Funny how the lawfare gets approving coverage here and the agitprop gets ignored or defended, even in the wake of an assassination attempt tacitly approved by the overblown rhetoric of the left.
"Describing the modern Democrat party as bitter cat ladies is a succinct and accurate description that lines up with demographics and research on attitudes"
Its something that might not have been the most astute game theory political move.
It is, however, truly accurate
The cat ladies are already captured.
Not wrong. Anyone wallowing in that much cat piss isn't voting for Trump no matter how bad it gets.
True. But, the media has to disallow statements like Vance's. The progressive pitch isn't a coherent policy case. It's a status game. "Miserable cat ladies" risks changing the status narrative. It risks the progressive pitch of the high-status "hip independent Sex-in-the-City boss grrrllll" getting recast as a low-status aging, lonely loser whose only remaining recompenses in life are resentment and box wine.
Doesn't help they selected an aging wine box aficionado that oozes bitter resentment.
It may have been pretty astute. The childless cat ladies are so overwhelmingly D that pissing them off wont matter. But married moms on the fence can now see the childless catladies freaking out over it and think twice about joining them.
Maybe. Although, really, the married mom fence-sitters will go with whatever is perceived as high status. The job for the GOP is to create a pitch that voting for the Democrats is low status. As I suggest, "miserable cat ladies" might not be the best label. But, it's in the right direction.
Astute? Can you explain, then, why hillbilly elegy rising GOP star, Yale educated, Peter Theil approved venture capitalist JD Vance (3rd name) has lower approval ratings than Sarah fkn Palin??
Trump fucked up here. Dude is not likeable. He talks about woman in a role from 1950s t.v. Homemaker, baby maker, STFU and let the men do everything else WHEN his wife outperformed him at every level until he got into politics. She had the top clerk gigs. She got the big, high paying west coast law firm job. And she is Indian; so good luck with the base ever accepting her. Thank god Trump is such an idiot and picked this douche canoe.
As an attorney, did you represent Jussie Smollet? Windy City = MAGA country after all.
Again. Not a lawyer. You're an activist.
Woof, the jealously absolutely reeks from you.
Awww, the cat lady comment really got you in the feels, huh?
I will repeat: Can any of you explain why JD VANCE's approval ratings are lower than Sarah Palin's? I said he is unlikeable. His low approval ratings suggest I am correct.
You got something to offer other than attacking me? Put up or STFU. Trump fucked up this choice and its too late to change course now. JD Vance is bringing down the Trump ticket whereas Harris' pick seems to help her. Face the facts. Vance sucks. When Trump loses again, he will blame everybody but himself. I am sure he is blaming someone right now for letting him pick Vance. GOP ticket is a total clown car shit show. If it keeps at it, its going to affect down ballot tickets for house and senate. Better buy some Trump bibles or some homo-erotic Trump NFTs!!! JD Vance jizz cups won't buy themselves.
- The VP has always had low approval ratings. Kamala was one of the most unpopular VPs throughout the current administration. Vance is no different.
- Your snide remarks warrants all the attacks against you. It's simple logic.
Those cat ladies prefer to be called the tote bag set.
Not that it makes any difference.
'Scenes from New York: Why does 3.5 grams of weed, purchased legally, cost $60 in New York, while unlicensed bodegas are selling for $40?'
How much at the knock-off shops on Canal Street?
I long for the day when a major American political party doesn't pander to skin color.
That day will never see the light of dawn; racial division is just far too useful a cudgel to ever be relinquished. This is why it morphed into "white privilege" and "implicit bias" and the "1619 Project" after Obama was elected POTUS, not once but twice. Got to keep the oppression narrative alive no matter who gets elected or succeeds; otherwise there is no fear tactic to secure future votes.
But it's the most important thing. Geez.
Ocasio-Cortez is economically illiterate
It sums up the state of education in this country that she graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in Economics.
Boston University Annual Tuition cost: $66,670
She’s barely qualified to bartend.
“The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.”
― Thomas Sowell
She didn't learn economics, but she sure knows politics.
Neither did you, beyond single line quotations.
Since my kid is at AOC alma mater, I can say with second hand experience that Sowell's view of economics is not anywhere near that school.
From what I've gathered, most Economics programs focus more on models than on the economic way of thinking (incentives, incentives, incentives).
"From what I’ve gathered"
More google research?
Ocasio-Cortez is economically illiterate
Maybe. Or maybe she's happy to repeat stupid things that are popular to secure a position from which she can extract large amounts of graft from society.
Are you judging her on old-fashioned, racist white guy economics, or new woke compassionate socialism economics? You know, the kind based on feelz and setting prices, wages, production, etc. by very wise experts who use intersectional "math" and MMT theory.
'which essentially spends a lot of words grappling with the idea that Felicia, a black woman, could not possibly authentically support former President Donald Trump, and that there must be some kind of mental derangement at play'
Time to de-blackify Felicia.
"Bye, Felicia." -Ice Cube
No need for that as we have it on good authority [from our current POTUS, no less] that if a person does not vote Democrat, they just ain't Black.
Voting Democrat is the only defining characteristic more important than skin color.
How stupid is Fatass Donnie's 'Drill Baby Drill' rhetoric?
A Natural-Gas Glut Is Forcing Drillers to Dial Back—Again
...
Big producers such as EQT and Coterra Energy are choking back output, waiting to connect new wells to pipelines and delaying drilling projects. They aim to buoy prices that have rarely been lower during the heat of the summer, when air conditioning creates a lot of power demand.
https://www.wsj.com/finance/commodities-futures/a-natural-gas-glut-is-forcing-drillers-to-dial-backagain-ff2e56a1
Supply is too high and prices are too low.
CUT BACK BABY CUT BACK!
Is their real slogan.
Of course Donnie has to play to his pig-ignorant base who know nothing about energy policy.
“Simply put, gas markets are oversupplied,” Coterra Chief Executive Thomas Jorden told investors this month, when the Houston company mapped out plans to reduce production in its Appalachian gas fields
CUT BACK, BABY, CUT BACK!
How was your vasectomy?
It's a shame his dad didn't have one; the world would be a better place if he had.
turd, the ass-wipe of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
His defenders are also willfully ignorant of the fact that executive orders only affect new leases on federal land. That a small percentage of a small percentage of total production. They don’t care though. It's not like they let facts get in the way of the narrative.
Federal land is about 28% of the entire US. And is has high as 80% of a state like Nevada. It also doesn’t help that most of the oil rich areas are in the western states that are mostly owned by the federal government.
The hydro-carbon rich basins are not on federal land for the most part.
Anyway it doesn't matter. Oil/Gas producers want to cut back and limit supply.
Thus the stupidity of Drill-baby-drill.
The federal mineral estate is over 62 percent of the nation’s total.
In acreage, yes.
The federal mineral estate contains 2.46 billion acres, made up of 1.76 billion acres in the Outer Continental Shelf and 700 million of onshore lands. The state and private land mineral estate is around 1.5 billion acres by comparison.
turd, the TDS-addled ass-wipe of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.

Doesn't negate what I said.
It didn’t negate your strawman?
Why can’t you be honest for just once? Compelling need to be liked even if by shrike?
Every one here points pit energy retards future supply. That he makes energy more expensive due to disallowing cheaper transportation costs. This is said over and over. Yet you’re defending shrike complaining about prices coming down while ignoring the lag between leases and future supply. They don’t just drill and get energy the next day retard.
Likewise the other part of the energy issue is permits for refineries and generators. Which Joe has also refused to allow.
Do I literally need to link you to end user energy cost growth? You and shrike are fucking retarded.
permits for refineries
Donnie shut down at least five US refineries.
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/us-refining-capacity-shrinks-45-pandemic-shuts-plants-2021-06-25/
2018 and 2020 both lost record capacity.
Always read shrike links.
Marathon converted one refinery to a renewable diesel plant and is converting another to produce renewable diesel. HollyFrontier also plans to convert its idled refinery into a renewable diesel producer.
The fire-ravaged Philadelphia Energy Systems refinery was sold last year to a developer who plans to demolish it.
Also not a single mention of trump. One mention of EPA, so deep state The Resistance.
Also the same retarded belief that refineries pop up the day after a lease is signed. Lol.
God damn shrike.
You stupidly blamed Sleepy Joe for lower US refining capacity.
The truth is that it fell most 2017-2020. And you ignore the prime issue here - US producers want to cut back production.
Is that a difficult concept? Cutting back production?
Don't go Sevo on us. Your lies are enough.
Hey retard. I point to actual actions by presidents. Things they sign and are responsible for.
You throw shut at the wall and post links that actually refute your narrative lol.
You even double down pretending refineries and plants are built in a day. 2015-2019 are from actions Obama took, permits not signed then.
Are you honestly this fucking retarded?
Almost all growth on federal lands under Joe were due to permits signed by trump fucktard. Joe even had his DoJ sue to try to undo those permits.
You’re a Democrat moron shrike lol.
I don’t know how you talk to the clown. Between the lies, fallacies, personal attacks, bone-headed stupidity and general shrillness, his posts are a fucking headache to read. Best kept on mute.
Yeah, shame on Jesse for citing facts, right, slimy pile of lefty shit?
FOAD, asshole.
What lies sarc? Do you have a citation?
Even butplug doesn't pretend to mute people. Let that one sink in, sarc.
I don’t know how you talk to the clown.
You then proceed to bemoan Jesse's "personal attacks."
Please reconcile the two.
Fuck off, Sarc, you retard. Time and time again you've been exposed as a liar and a troll. You don't get to throw shit.
You then proceed to bemoan Jesse’s “personal attacks.”
Please reconcile the two.
I’ll unmute the cunt for your entertainment. By the way, calling him a cunt isn’t a personal attack. It’s an observation. Personal attacks are when someone like him claims to refute an argument by calling someone a hypocrite or a poopyhead.
Hey retard. I point to actual actions by presidents. Things they sign and are responsible for.
Yet he denies that Trump is responsible for anything he signed unless Republicans wrote it and it could have been vetoed.
You throw shut at the wall and post links that actually refute your narrative lol.
I’m not even sure what that means.
You even double down pretending refineries and plants are built in a day. 2015-2019 are from actions Obama took, permits not signed then.
Not even sure what field that strawman is in.
Are you honestly this fucking retarded?
Um, ok.
Almost all growth on federal lands under Joe were due to permits signed by trump fucktard. Joe even had his DoJ sue to try to undo those permits.
Not sure what he’s arguing against. Certainly not something I said. Maybe he’s continuing an argument on another thread where he’s muted. Keep in mind he doesn’t believe I mute him.
You’re a Democrat moron shrike lol.
I think that’s supposed to be a mic drop.
And you say I attack him? Dude….
I keep him on mute and don't respond to him because if I were to read his comments and respond to them, that would become a full time job. He drops turds on almost all my posts. The posts start with false premises followed by lies about what I said through cherry picking, omission, deliberate misinterpretation or mendacity, then expect me to respond. So I must first refute the false premises, then the lies, before finally addressing whatever the subject might be, only for him to do it again. He's Lucy and I'm Charlie Brown. Except I'm smart enough to not try to kick the ball.
I’ll unmute the cunt for your entertainment.
You’re such an incredible attention whore that you really think that muting is some sort of punishment, don’t you?
When Ken and Chumby muted you it just devastated you, and now you think that it is something terrible. Well, I hate to break it to you, but if someone is not an attention whore it isn’t.
By the way, calling him a cunt isn’t a personal attack. It’s an observation.
No. It isn’t. It’s a personal attack.
You sit in the ditch and pretend you have the moral high ground. You’re a living joke.
You’re such an incredible attention whore that you really think that muting is some sort of punishment, don’t you?
The attention whores are the ones who drop turds on all my posts in a desperate hope that I'll respond.
When Ken and Chumby muted you it just devastated you
*snort*
Ken muted me because I told the truth. He correctly identified Democrats as totalitarians and Republicans as authoritarians. When I pointed out that his support and defense of Republicans was supporting and defending authoritarianism, he couldn't handle the cognitive dissonance. So he left. That's all on him, not me.
Chumby is a clown.
No. It isn’t. It’s a personal attack.
You sit in the ditch and pretend you have the moral high ground. You’re a living joke.
Blah blah, whatever. As long as tearing others down makes you feel good, have at it. I could care less what you think, or what anyone who cares about what you think thinks.
Man sarc. Way to prove you’re ignore. A lot of you don’t understand even on basic understanding.
Do you think production statts the day after a permit is signed? No infrastructure required? The fact there is a lag between project start and production?
And then strawman arguments like this which I have been very clear about with you.
Yet he denies that Trump is responsible for anything he signed unless Republicans wrote it and it could have been vetoed.
This is a strawman. And it is just wrong lol. It passed with 90% of the votes. Are you a fucking idiot?
You don’t mute. You’re ignorant on basic understanding of economics. You don’t understand even simple things like production lags or how current commodity prices assume some element of future production.
You’re a fucking idiot sarc.
90% of your response was you admitting you don't understand shit lol.
I'll be nice and share a song that I think is pretty cool.
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lDKlE65PZp0
There. I did something nice for someone who doesn't deserve it.
“You’re a fucking idiot sarc.”
Always and forever.
Also, good times, boo-hoo-hoo:
sarcasmic

Chumby does. Pretty sure he's a Mainer. But he's got me on mute. You know, virtue signaling to Ken. Can't listen to someone who takes people's words to their logical conclusion. Only a progressive would do that, right?

Just put in some price floor controls, that'll work.
I highly doubt young children are paying attention to the party chair.
Some people are born kamunist.
Politics is genetic. That's why we need to keep out immigrants from socialist countries.
Poor sarc, says the same things every day.
People never learn anything from their parents.
The replacement theory says that Democrats are importing immigrants from leftist countries so they can have a permanent majority of voters and win all future elections. How can this be possible unless the politics of these immigrants something genetic that they pass to their children and grandchildren?
It’s not a theory. It’s carefully planned policy.

Your ideas of genetics and politics are retarded.
Holy fuck. You literally do push every DNC narrative.
"Replacement Theory"
A far-right fringe, racist conspiracy.
"Demographics is Destiny"
A righteous progressive vision for throwing off white oppression in America.
Fuck you, retard.
The observation was brought up by one of the dumbfucks that argues that critical race theory is not what is being taught in public schools throughout the nation. Clearly, it is the word "theory" that causes them to leap to conspiracy and cast doubt.
Luckily, they are not satellite engineers who rely absolutely on theory to maintain synchronization and a stable orbit..
Come on, everyone knows there is no gravity up there.
You don’t think that the Dems know that if they import unskilled labor from other countries, that when they do have the ability to vote (down the line or immediately) that those people will vote for candidates (D) who promise the most free shit?
That's one of the most condescending things I've read in a long time.
Condescending to who? The Democrats?
Add "condescending" to the great big list of words Sarc doesn't understand the meaning of.
Um, no.
Uh, yes.
Is it false? Are the majority of the "asylum seekers" pouring across the southern border high-skilled workers? No, they're not. This is reality. It's not a shot at the humanity of the people coming into the country in droves.
Are the Dems stupid? No. They're not. You don't think that they factor this calculus into their decisions? Hell, there are montages on YT and X showing the Dems over the last two decades bragging about how demographics are destiny, and with non-white people becoming the majority over the next few decades they will have a permanent voting block. That's the Dems speaking. It turns out that's not really true, as many Hispanics are turning away from the Democratic party.
Do you really think the Dems, who love to gain votes in part by promising free shit (student loans forgiven, free daycare, free health insurance, UBI, to name just a few), don't anticipate the migrants voting for them when they gain the right to vote, especially if they offer even more free shit to them as enticements?
Democratic leaders are not stupid. Democratic rank and file are.
They don't even have to vote. Increasing the population of Chicago for example will increase electoral votes in a dem stronghold.
So fucking broken.
Please keep defending global welfare. Lol.
Do you know how high the correlation is between left wing parents and college students who are left-wing activists on campus?
You mean that young people are influenced by their parents and teachers?
Oh!
My!
God!
You aware that they eventually reach their 30s and start thinking for themselves, right?
Doubtful. And given that mental health issues are spiking in young liberals, many might not reach 30.

I was chuckling about Liz’s presumption that of course it would be American security that would initiate the use of force against Palestinians standing in quiet protest.
It’s like 3 or 4 different current political narratives turned exactly 180-degrees and then rolled together.
Security hasn’t, so far, blown up any critical infrastructure in response to the Ukrainian protesters that arrived via yacht and showed up in scuba gear either.
So far unmolested by officials or security.
Worst. Genocide. Ever.
Didn't even pull the rags off!

What do you mean? What about the children of all those journalists and politicians that ask thought provoking and hard-hitting questions at the breakfast table?

Kamala’s Best Friend was invited to speak at the DNC Convention and OMG!
"decided to run for Lt Governor"
"We shattered that glass ceiling"
Lots of ambition there.
This is why chicks shouldn’t be in politics.

What the fuck.
I don't know if it's because the suggestion is in my head after hearing the allegations about Kamala and others being drunk all the time, but I can't not hear it now. With Kamala's BFF, if you speed up the playback to 1.25x normal speed, it sounds like a normal speaking cadence. At regular speed she sounds drunk.
She looked and sounded drunk to me. So does Kamala all the time. So does Pelosi.
There are even SS officials and officers who have confirmed Kamala and Pelosi are drunk at a lot of events.
Look at Pelosis travel bar tab as speaker.

AFAICT, it's been however many years old she is since the last time she was funny.
