Is Joe Biden 'Brave' for Dropping Out?
Stepping aside was commendable; spending months clinging desperately to power as voters lost faith in him, not so much.

On Sunday, President Joe Biden made history when he ended his reelection bid, becoming the first sitting president in over 50 years to decline his party's nomination while still eligible for another term.
Over the last 48 hours, many liberal and progressive voices have praised Biden's decision to stand down and the courage it demonstrates. But did Biden really perform a courageous act?
Slate legal writer Mark Joseph Stern posted on X that he was "feeling overwhelmed with gratitude toward Joe Biden for making this sacrifice."
"An actual hero," wrote New York Times columnist Ezra Klein.
Biden "has placed the national interest above his own pride and ambition," wrote the Times editorial board.
In a Times editorial of his own, presidential historian and Biden adviser Jon Meacham was most fawning of all, calling Biden's decision "one of the most remarkable acts of leadership in our history" and comparing the current president to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt.
"President Biden has decided that this campaign is not about him but about us," Meacham later told MSNBC's Katy Tur. "I think the country should take a moment and realize the magnitude of the decision," that Biden "put the life of the nation above his own political individual ambition."
But before we recommend Biden for sainthood, let's consider what led to his decision in the first place.
Biden's exit came three weeks after a disastrously poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. While Biden's advanced age was always a consideration, his halting and disjointed performance sparked a crisis of confidence within the party. Days later, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D–Texas) became the first Democratic member of Congress to call on Biden to drop out, a call which soon became a chorus.
But for weeks, Biden insisted that he would not drop out, telling ABC's George Stephanopoulos that only a plea from "the Lord Almighty" would make him consider exiting the race. Even just hours before Biden's announcement, his campaign Co-Chair Cedric Richmond told Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan, "I want to be crystal clear. He's made a decision and that decision is to accept the nomination and run for reelection."
It appears Biden had only just decided to end his campaign the night before, after meeting with two of his longest-tenured advisers. "In addition to presenting new concerns from lawmakers and updates on a fundraising operation that had slowed considerably, they carried the campaign's own polls, which came back this week and showed his path to victory in November was gone," according to Politico.
Biden said earlier this month that he may drop out if polls showed there was no way he could win against Trump, before adding, "No one's saying that. No poll says that." Politico reports that Biden may not even have known what polls were saying: "When the campaign commissioned new battleground polling over the last week, it was the first time they had done surveys in some key states in more than two months, according to two people familiar with the surveys."
Not only were the polls turning sour, but donations were drying up as well. Along with Democratic lawmakers calling on Biden to drop out, liberal celebrity megadonors like George Clooney, Damon Lindelof, and Abigail Disney publicly called for the president to step aside and threatened to suspend all donations unless he did. (All three are apparently back onboard since Biden dropped out.) Indeed, after Biden's debate performance, a number of wealthy Democratic donors stopped giving unless he exited the race.
Many of the commentators praising Biden's selflessness note that dropping out is the best way to beat Trump in November. But wouldn't the better move have been to drop out even earlier—ideally by never running for reelection in the first place?
During the 2020 campaign, Biden gave repeated indications that he saw himself as "a transition candidate," who could serve as a "bridge" to the next generation of Democratic politicians. Many took this as an implicit assurance that he would only serve one term and step aside. But once in office, he insisted that his plan was to run for reelection, saying so as early as March 2021, just two months into his tenure.
When he officially launched his reelection bid in April 2023, his approval numbers had been underwater for more than a year. But few dared to challenge a sitting president from their own party, and Biden's only Democratic primary opponents were also-rans like self-help author Marianne Williamson, long shots like Rep. Dean Phillips (D–Minn.), and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who left the party and is now running as an Independent.
If, instead, Biden had announced in early 2023 that he would not run for reelection—months after Trump announced his own reelection bid and Republican challengers had started to enter the race—then Democrats would have had an extra year to vet their own candidates.
But Biden did not do that. Rather, he clung desperately to power for as long as possible, as aging politicians are wont to do.
Then, with barely a month until the Democratic National Convention, the party could only scramble to line up behind Vice President Kamala Harris. As vice president, Harris is the heir apparent, but it's far from clear that she is the party's strongest candidate. And instead of having an extra year to hash out any concerns and test that theory, the party had no choice but to slot her into place. Harris secured enough delegates to win the party's nomination within 48 hours of Biden's announcement.
"Biden has done what he said he would," Joe Klein wrote last year. "He's been a solid 'transitional' President, but transition requires transit, a second act. We need to transition to something, a new Democratic vision of America—or to someone who can plausibly promise a creative way out of this molasses stasis."
Indeed, Biden's act is not heroic; it is not brave for someone to belatedly heed the writing on the wall. After all, they don't give medals for clinging desperately to power until the donations dry up.

This whole article presupposes Biden actually did the dropping out.
A little more emphasis on the verb would be interesting, but require some real journalism.
ETA or perhaps the subject.
As someone said the other day, Biden's going to be pissed when he finds out.
LOL good one.
I think it wasnt bravery - more like they beat him with the carrot AND the stick until he cried uncle.
Do you think Biden would have quit if Trump had been assassinated?
FOAD, Nazi pile of shit.
You’re here? I thought you would be occupying the Capitol ahead of Netanyahu’s visit tomorrow. With your Hamas brethren.
I’ll be at his hanging.
And you're an ignoramus, besides.
https://babylonbee.com/news/biden-wakes-up-from-nap-asks-if-he-missed-anything
Do they even have to tell him?
How much deeper into dementia does he need to be before they could convince him he got re-elected in an onlne/call-in/text message voting process which allowed the entire campaign to be compressed into a weekend?
Then it's just a matter of moving his and "Doctor Jill's" stuff out of the WH and gathering a few rows of crowd around him somewhere outdoors in January for the "inauguration". If they could dress up a memory-care facility somewhere to look like the east wing and put something kind of like Marine Dress Blues on the nursing staff it might be possible to allow him to believe he's still the President for the rest of his natural life.
They already have a false Whitehouse from what I understand. For photo ops it seems.
It took them 3 weeks to build a replica oval office outside of his hospital room. He'll spend the next five years telling stories of how little kids like his hairy legs and how he took nixon out behind the barn and showed him whatfore just like cornpop and creamice. Sadly the DNC will have to sacrifice a few freshly showered little girls for him to sniff... but no price is to big save democracy from uh I'm uh I mean the guy you know the guy, anyways...
“If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well
It were done quickly“
True, the announcement was on X, and the signature is 'not like his other signatures' according to one who has compared them.
Let's face it, Pelosi put the squeeze on Joe, telling him either he would 'go the easy way or the hard way' and he just found out that the hard way was to be disgraced within the DNC, with no library $$, and losing to Trump. Even evil Jill could not stomach that. So, they caved. The furthest thing from heroic as you can get. And his booby prize is the fawning BS that is spilling out of the sycophant Donkeys now.
Does it ever get sicker or more corrupt than this? The Dems really are the banana republic party.
And now somehow Harris is the nominee, even though no democrat has voted for her to be the party nominee. The democrats are not all falling in line, and many don’t like Harris.
Among others, BLM is not having this. They have come out against the de facto coronation…….

A 24-hour process of talking to party bosses is not democratic, nor is it a process Democrats should be proud of. We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs.
Installing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and an unknown vice president without any public voting process would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites.
Yeah, that's what made them hypocrites.
Don't get me wrong, it's a big ole point in that direction. I just think they crossed that 'preponderance of evidence' line a long time ago.
My point is not about BLM. They’re incidental to this. It’s that much of the left is not in board with what the democrat elites are doing, and not afraid to be vocal about it.
I’m certainly popping epic amounts of popcorn In anticipation of the forthcoming floor show,
As Obama said after the Inauguration in 2021: "There was an election, and Joe Biden is now the President."
Today: "There was an announcement, and Joe Biden is now out of the race."
Biden could have continued if he wanted. No doubt he was pressured to withdraw, but the choice was ultimately his. He should have withdrawn a long time ago, but the fact that, as President, he could have stayed in with nothing but the 25th amendment that could have realistically removed him.
Maybe the 25th was threatened. If it was, it was warranted. Last time we had someone who should have been removed with the 25th amendment the administration was too spineless to do anything about it.
Imagine Donald Trump withdrawing because his party refused to back a felon. The fact that Trump was never even *asked* to step away says way more about the morality and patriotism of the average Trump supporter than it does about Trump.
Biden will go down as a legend. The cult of DJT will go down in history books as an anomaly and the cultists will just move their allegiance to another golden calf when Trump is finally gone.
Why do lefty shits following the party line come up with handles intended to fool someone into imagining they have a brain?
FOAD, toady.
"Is Joe Biden 'Brave' for Dropping Out?"
That depends. Was he the one that made the decision?
That the question was even asked… of course not!
Next question.
"That depends..."
ICWYDT.
There's literally no evidence that Joe Biden has voluntarily dropped out. It's possible he did, even probable (depending on your faith in institutions) but at this juncture, there's no evidence whatsoever. Especially when literally less than 24 hours before he 'dropped out' he was publicly stating that he would stay in unless God Almighty intervened. Does that sound like a guy who was wavering?
In my mind, Joe and Jill have been placed on house arrest and are under the watchful eye of DNC thugs. But in reality, at best, he was very likely threatened by DNC insiders, most of whom were probably directed by Barack Obama. The best theory I've heard was that he (aka, Jill) was threatened by insiders who knew what Joe's real medical/mental condition was, and threatened to leak it to a compliant media, so he (Jill) signed under duress and as such have refused to make a public statement out of a kind of protest.
Will you accept reality on Wednesday when Biden addresses the nation and says he isn't running?
I'm baffled as to why so many conservatives won't take yes for an answer. Biden dropped out. Why is this a subject for conspiracy theories? Why are some so adamant that there's something more to it than "Biden figured out that he couldn't win, so he dropped out in hopes that someone else could"?
Why are some so adamant that there’s something more to it than “Biden figured out that he couldn’t win, so he dropped out in hopes that someone else could”?
Because he said that only God could convince him to drop out?
And we all know that of the supernatural beings that have a close enough relationship to the Bidens to be actually communicating with them - its not God or anyone on his team! 😉
Maybe it was Harvey - Meryl thinks he's God and we all know how hollywood and the whitehouse currently share the same rapidly deteriorating brain.
You think Biden talks to an imaginary giant rabbit that was friends with Jimmy Stewart? Ok, that actually makes a lot of sense.
In case you werent in the know cant tell from your comment
I never knew Harvey Weinstein was a giant imaginary rabbit.
To be fair, a series of TIAs could be considered God telling him to drop out.
It certainly didn’t help my father’s bridge game.
“Biden dropped out. Why is this a subject for conspiracy theories?”
Because Biden’s cognitive decline was obvious during the 2020 campaign.
It’s not hard to believe that Biden has been a flesh puppet for the last 4 years and that someone else has been pulling the strings.
And before you say “but Biden was fine in 2020”, remember, the entire Democrat establishment was saying he was fine just a few weeks ago.
I think everyone accepts reality that Biden isn't running.
The question for liberals, why did they keep the sham going for years. Why not say - he's not running in the primaries.
That's the issue the conservatives have. He had a bad debate and he's out. He's losing so he's out. I agree he shouldn't run, it's elderly abuse. I don't think he should be president now either but Harris...shudder.
Conservatives want to see Harris actually get the nomination. You know who no voters voted for. The elites get to decide it all
The elites get to decide it all and that's how you save democracy ... according to the Donkeys.
Biden has been manipulated like a dummy for years. Why should anyone think he is in charge now? And there is no photo of him signing, no recording of him saying he's out, nothing that one would normally expect for such a monumental event in a politician's life. And the statement was on X with an odd signature. It may all be wrong, but let's see the evidence.
Will you accept reality on Wednesday when Biden addresses the nation and says he isn’t running?
How would any of that suggest that Biden didn't drop out voluntarily? Sometimes people read confessions while blinking out SOS's.
It might work out something like this……
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c6Mcy3YnrI
Just sub in Kamala for the guy who fires the automatic weapon.
Because the same people pushing this are the same people who have been lying to us all along. First he was "sharp as a tack". Then, no, he's not going anywhere. Now, he's leaving, but it's totally voluntary. How many times can you lie to me before you don't expect me to be credulous?
^ This.
Because people usually don't "make history" with an email. Way too easy to fake. He could have dropped a pre-recorded video (still not convincing, but at least you see him saying the words). Better yet, he could have had a short, live press conference, even with no questions (or 2 or 3 planted with his favorite friendly reporters).
Because they think Team Blue is not just wrong but evil. And because they are evil, their intentions are bad, their methods are bad, and they are lying no matter what they say. So Biden saying “I’m out” but not in person, is just PROOF that he’s being manipulated as a puppet. It’s because of Dr. Jill. Or it’s because of Obama. It doesn’t really matter. All that matters is, THEY’RE LYING AND WE WANT THE REAL TRUTH.
Remember, they are the same people who will endlessly give Trump the benefit of the doubt no matter what he says or does.
"Will you accept reality on Wednesday when Biden addresses the nation and says he isn’t running?..."
Just like you accepted reality when he stumble-bumbed his debacle performance and then made it worse with the scripted and edited "interview"?
FOAD, pathetic pile of TDS-addled shit.
Brave only in the Brave Sir Robin sense.
"When all the voter polls turned red
Sir Joseph bravely turned and fled"
Excellent reference! You win today.
"But for weeks, Biden insisted that he would not drop out, telling ABC's George Stephanopoulos that only a plea from "the Lord Almighty" would make him consider exiting the race."
Then he got COVID and, unlike Pharaoh, relented after one plague. (Or two if he had a respiratory ailment during the debate. Not counting the Crowdstrike fiasco.)
[muted]
Hey - you should also add working with Kamala to that total.
You forgot the plague of locusts, the Democrats circling to see who gets to be the Presidential nominee and who gets to be the VP nominee.
Looks like Harris won the top position. The bottom position on the ticket is still up for grabs though.
liberal celebrity megadonors like George Clooney, Damon Lindelof, and Abigail Disney publicly called for the president to step aside and threatened to suspend all donations unless he did.
What's Melina French Gates, chopped liver? She's ridin' with Harris.
The Ridin' with Biden crowd was stranded when Nancy took the keys away from senile old Joe. So brave of him to agree not to drive when he no longer had the keys. Heroic even, acc to Jon Meacham.
On Sunday, President Joe Biden made history when he ended his reelection bid, becoming the first sitting president in over 50 years to decline his party's nomination while still eligible for another term.
So, uh, Joe made history and now he's done making history?
I don't see repeating a decision LBJ made in 1968 as "making history", and it certainly wasn't courageous.
It's definitely history, just not the good kind. More like he made another doodie in his diaper.
It was in no way 'repeating'. Unlike the shitbag LBJ, it wasn't made by leakin' Joe, nor was it made before the corrupt D primaries had handed him the nomination.
“one of the most remarkable acts of leadership in our history” and comparing the current president to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt.
MSM has gone full Pravda.
Kinda amusing to watch, along with all the party faithful who nod in unison.
Brave – like Japanese Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu signing the Instrument of Surrender on behalf of the Japanese Government, on board USS Missouri. He had calls from Nancy and probably Hillary – it was basically a matter of survival at that point.
[self preservation]
"MSM has gone full Pravda."
They did that in 2009. Where've you been?
If Putin had the opportunity to ask Biden one question without anyone knowing about the exchange or its content, I have to believe that the question would be related to how Biden managed to get a supposedly "free press" to be so eagerly complicit without the legal authority to openly threaten their lives, families, or freedoms.
Also stunning. How dare you forget stunning!
Trump's comb over could cost him 5 points.
https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1814789595399069935
Trump is dropping some of the narcissism with the self-deprecating humor. People like that.
Actually he's been doing that for quite a while.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/trump-i-look-orange-so-do-you-because-energy-efficient-n1054021
Trump isn’t nearly the asshole he’s made out to be. It’s just that prior to his candidacy in 2015, everyone was accustomed to republicans being milquetoast punching bags for the left. Trump hits back, and hard. Which is a big part of his appeal.
He’s really not bad to deal with if the other side can maintain any modicum of civility, but they almost never do. So I’ve never blamed him for being vicious towards them.
And AMAZING! How can you ignore that?!
I wonder whether he was persuaded to go by the argument that if he stepped down he’d be positively remembered (heap on the flattery) while if he lost6, he’d be remembered badly (heap on the opprobrium) – i.e., an appeal to vanity.
Absolutely. But it might have been more because Pelosi told him how badly he would lose without the $$ from the donors and the bootlicking from the MSM. And no library.
The word is that Pelosi threatened to have him removed via the 25th amendment if he didn’t step aside. This allegedly comes from anonymous insiders.
This from an ignoramus who assumes Joe had anything to do with the decision at all.
Show your work, or STFU, asshole.
Look Joe, either you pull out of the election, or we drop the 25th on you before you can pardon Hunter.
Maybe they even hinted that it could be arranged to have Hunter ‘overdose’.
Have they announced that he can't communicate and is on a feeding tube yet?
More like have they stopped pretending he can communicate?
There's no announcement needed to let the world know how rapidly he's deteriorating, as long as they continue to insist on pointing TV cameras at him and broadcasting the resulting footage.
They just showed him getting on Air Force One and making a short trip (under 200 miles) then walking down the stairs, sort of answering questions on both ends. Of course, it could be a body double, the sore throat means they don’t even need the voice to match. Or stock footage, they have a lot of him getting on AF1 and off again. Or AI — use the stock footage and change the words.
Ordinarily I would laugh at such conspiracy theory claims, but after the past 3 weeks none of them are implausible anymore.
It's plausible that the footage is real.
In any event, the cocktail of drugs they’ve been giving him to be able to function for short periods appears to be taking its toll on him. I’ve been wondering when that would happen.
The other possibility with the quick little interactions getting onto and off of the plane is that the questions were scripted in advance and given to the reporters who agreed to stick to the plan.
They already did that with several radio interviews, so a quick drive-by would be well within the bounds they'd already established.
What's terrifying to me is that the whole idea that maybe Biden had actually already died a day or two before the announcement of dropping out of the race should have been unimaginable, but in the current environment it would have only been mildly surprising if it had turned out to be the case.
The fix was in when the Democrats challenged Trump to a debate in June. The media screeched that this was the most important debate in history. Purportedly 50 million showed up to witness the grand event for maximum exposure. The only question was would we see Dark Brandon or dementia Joe. Clearly the chosen medications delivered the latter. The following morning the media carried a unified narrative: Joe is much worse than we suspected. How could we possibly Know? Even people who didn't watch the debate couldn't escape the deafening wailing. Everything that has happened since is pure theater. A planned and executed soft coup of a sitting president by his own party. Undoubtedly the scheme has left a trail of carrots and sticks but the job is done. One loose end remains. Trump was supposed to get a bullet to the head 10 days ago but he's still standing. As usual Reason can't comprehend reality when it slaps it on the ass and spits in it's face. So we get pointless rehashing of whatever fantasy the editors are reading in the NYT. Lancaster has stolen another 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. You are not forgiven.
The facts fit that narrative. But I have a hard time believing that they thought far enough ahead to have every potential challenger (RFK) expelled from the primaries. If they had been that clever they would have been able to make that same 25A threat in November 2023 and rescued the party from an ignominious defeat that is certainly coming. I think they bungled it by Joe being too proud to refuse a debate challenge from Trump. The challenge did them in.
Trump has always said he would debate Biden anywhere anytime but Biden proffered the date and terms. Trump said sure, like I said anywhere anytime. I would agree that Biden's arrogance pushed them further than they would have preferred but it turned out to be a bump in the road. And I think the 25th is a red herring. The amendment doesn't allow for unilateral removal of a president against his will. He either has to agree or be physically unable to resist. This was entirely about internal Democrat polling that showed no path to 270 electoral votes back in April or May when the plan was initiated. The 25th doesn't allow for removal of a president just because he's going to lose the next election. This is a coup.
Disagreed. The Ds assumed Trump would:
A) bail on the debacle, or B) be in jail.
Specifically:
A) Trump continuing to be a blowhard, regardless of his actual policies and action and getting traction from that, regardless of the comparison to leakin' Joe.
B) Hoping the corruption of Atlantic coastal corrupt judiciary would deliver the goods, failing to recognize that some of the judiciary is, as yet, independent of party pressure.
Joe was who the voters wanted. Now because he lost a debate and they can't hide him anymore - he's all of a sudden out. Voters be damned right? Let the elites pick the candidate.
Let the elites pick the candidate.
That's how Donkeys save democracy ... or what passes for democracy with them.
The man in the picture with the sign that said, "Thank you Joe for everything" misspelled the word "fuck."
Public Schools.
Ducking autocorrect
Creepy Robinette Biden never has been brave. He has actually been a coward all his life. He was given "an offer he couldn't refuse" by the demo-rot mafia cult.
Regardless of the circumstances, the timing was impeccable. It drove the fawning coverage of the Republican Convention and Trump's earache right out of the headlines. Bravo, Sir!
It supplied the Heffalumps with hundreds of potential campaign commercials showing people saying how fit Biden was, followed by saying how he had better get out, followed by fawning praise.
They might not be wise enough to use it well, however.
So you found the grift useful?
Was Trump's grift useful? For him perhaps. Not to America.
Your own party is fucking you over and you applaud it. Do you understand that?
You are a pathetic pile of lying lefty shit. FOAD, asshole.
It does leave you wondering if he had made the decision earlier but chose to do it after the convention to steal the news cycle. It also locked in the Republicans on several fronts. Would Trump have chosen Vance had he known Harris would be the likely nominee?
Yes, it does. Biden would've been wily enough to do it in the past. Now, though, is a question.
“”An actual hero,” wrote New York Times columnist Ezra Klein.”
Ezra Klein and the Biden weasels should be forced to attend Corey Comperatore’s funeral. Broadcast on Youtube their explanation to his family on why Joe Biden is a hero of our time. “A senile man courageously gave up what little political life he had left, so those who lied to keep him in power may live – to win another election!”
Just the gall of these jackals, trying to trying to spin their deception and corruption into honor. There’s as much as “sacrifice” in Biden dropping out of the race as a predatory teacher vowing never to go near another school after he was caught in the act. Which is to say, none. And Biden’s STILL the president.
Biden didn’t even resign voluntarily. The jackals and hyenas threatened to sic the 25th amendment on him if he didn’t quit the race. Yes, the same people who tried to gaslight you into believing that Biden was as sharp as a tack and that any doubts on his mental acuity was “cheapfake”. Gee, isn’t the 25th amendment appropriate here regardless of Biden’s odds of winning elections? Why is a man unfit to run for election fit to run the entire country?
This was a minor coup. They threw away votes cast in the primpary. If Biden was up 10 point in polls, the dems would have kept gaslighting us. But since he’s as popular as a cockroach, his senility became a way for them to get another bite at the apple. There has been zero mea culpas or accountability. I don’t want to hear these people run their mouth about saving democracy.
Right after the American people. Richard Hur is owed an apology. That RAT Schiff wouldn’t have denigrated him as a GOP operative if Richard Hur was black. You deserved that censure, which is some badge of honor in your retarded little mind.
Let's hope that Trump provides some accountability to a large swath of lying Donkeys starting in January. If the Rs sweep both Houses, look out.
The Comperatore family has suffered enough, they don't need any lefturds stinking up the funeral.
-jcr
The man who murdered Corey Comperatore was a registered Republican who had Trump signs in his front yard.
He donated to left wing causes and a Mexican schoolmate said he ridiculed him for not hating Trump.
Why would a pro Trump republican try to assassinate him?
All's I can think of is Gates's evaluation of Biden from back in 2014:
""I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades,” former Defense Secretary Robert Gates says of Vice President Joe Biden"
Biden has been an atrocious politician his whole life including NOW.
War-monger Gates? Bwaa-haaa-haaa!!!!
The only reason people are saying Biden did this or that - is because people just do not want to admit that the Great Man version of history is bunk. Which is why elections are bunk.
Institutions and structures are what matter. Call it the deep state if you want but I think that is an unhelpful term that just reinforces conspiracy thinking. In large part because most people who use that term want to pretend that Great Men are the puppet masters of those institutions and structures.
It would be useful if D's in particular could be honest in saying that this is the third election season where the Prez candidate has been forced into or now out of the nomination. But they're not. So now Kamala gets to be the tool of the D institution/structures and it will be made to appear as if she has some independent ideas.
Probably right, but Biden was the first President who made it obvious to everyone that he wasn't calling the shots, and had no capability to call any shots.
Not really. Those with true authoritarian power can enforce the claim of authority based on 'secret police' and the like; Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao and Il Duce come to mind. Every one of them had their supporters claiming they had power after they had lost it.
Wilson, through his wife in the US, the debilitated FDR through his lying physician also.
""Institutions and structures are what matter. ""
Congress matters. If the House of Representatives does not, then democracy is already dead. The President doesn't matter so much because of limited power. But a lot of people want the imperial president.
"The only reason people are saying Biden did this or that – is because people just do not want to admit that the Great Man version of history is bunk..."
To which only imbecilic piles of shit like you adhere.
FOAD, shit-pile.
Letting the Deep State announce that you've dropped out isn't brave, but maybe they drugged him when he was sick.
Being brave would be holding a live interview with Fox News later that day to announce that the drop out email was fake and that he's clinging to power til the bitter end.
It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see how it turns out for him....
Seriously though. Since when does backing down from an historic ass-kicking that he never needed to have tried to face anyway make him suddenly the greatest Statesman since Marcus Aurelius?
But like Marcus Aurelius, Biden does have a troublesome son.
George HW Bush had a troublesome son as well. Doesn't make him a historically outstanding leader.
Most marionettes aren't considered to be brave no matter what they do.
Please remember that investigation into Biden's Criminal enterprise were determined to be not prosecutable due to his mental condition and age. Think about that. A federal Prosecutor determined that Biden was UNFIT to be tried over two years ago.
There is NOTHING brave about knowing one is defeated and determining that they are NOT the best thing for the Nation by those who supported him unconditionally for years. Bravery is about doing things that create FEAR yet must be done and then doing them. Biden has NEVER been brave in any way.
First Biden had dementia, not just "merely forgetful" but full-blown dementia, all the way back in 2018.
Then he wins in 2020 and beats Trump. How did a dementia patient beat Trump the Almighty? VOTER FRAUD, that's the only possible reason!
Then, Dementia Patient Joe gives a "Red Speech" where he declares half the country to be un-American traitors. (Right?) That makes Biden a fascist! But wait, how could Dementia Joe be some kind of conniving fascist when he's got Dementia? Easy, because he's just a puppet being manipulated by "The Left". (Who exactly? It doesn't matter. Just "The Left". That is all that the narrative requires.)
However, the debate revealed to the whole world that Dementia Joe had dementia and it could not be hidden any longer. But wait - if his puppetmasters were so masterful that they could manipulate Biden for 3+ years without being discovered, how come they couldn't manipulate Biden through the debate? (Shush, that small detail is inconvenient to the narrative.) Also, the entirety of the media was complicit in the manipulation. Even Fox News, evidently. A giant conspiracy if you will.
And now he decides not to seek re-election, but not in person. That is *PROOF* that Biden is the mere puppet of Obama/Dr. Jill/George Soros/whatever. It's undeniable!
He caved when he was explicitly threatened with a 25th Amendment removal. All the hypocrites singing his praises are just as full of shit as he was back when he had his minimal wits about him.

And those claiming so. Liars, fucking liars, imbecilic liars and TDS-addled lying shits.
"... first in 50 years ..." means it happened 50(ish) years ago. That's not "historic".
That said, I'm not sure who Lancaster is referring to for the previous case. Coolidge, perhaps? That would be almost 100 years ago - but still a repeating event that's not "historic".
Where's turd to tell us how wonderful leakin' Joes was?
People make bad decisions and waiting too long was a bad decision. History will be kind to Joe Biden and his Presidency will be marked by many successes. History will also note that he was forced to drop out of the race and that he should have made the decision himself and made it sooner. Sadly, no real bravery other than he accepted the inevitable.
There is zero nobility in play. You have an authoritarian party that didn't like there own internal polling and knew that the probability of loosing and loosing big was very probable.
I suspect that the ruling elites behind the scenes were planning prior to the disastrous debate. One could wonder if Biden was given placebos in place of his normal cocktail of drugs.
It does seem like the authoritarian guardians of democracy are complicit in a coup to save the voters from democracy. Naturally these authoritarian guardians of democracy have the best interest of the voters in mind instead of their own interests.
Selection versus election is the new definition of democracy.
Is Joe Biden 'Brave' for Dropping Out?
We'll know when we see how he reacts when he finds out.
