Brickbat: Who's To Blame?

Baltimore police report that automobile theft is up 95 percent so far in 2023 compared to the same period last year. So city officials are taking action. They are suing Hyundai and Kia, claiming their cars are too easy to steal. Vehicles made by the two companies reportedly make up 40 percent of all cars stolen in the city. The suit claims the automakers have put residents at risk and cost the city money trying to prevent and respond to the theft of the vehicles they make.

Maybe they're stealing cars to get the hell out of Baltimore?
Google pays $300 on a regular basis. My latest salary check was $8600 for working 10 hours a week on the internet. My younger sibling has been averaging $19k for the last few months, and he constantly works approximately 24 hours. I’m not sure how simple it was once I checked it out. This is my main concern…………. GOOD LUCK.

They are suing Hyundai and Kia, claiming their cars are too easy to steal.
Arrest the car owners for buying those cars or you're soft on crime, Charm City.
Suing Kia and Hyundai is a good half measure - but half measures never work. Like the creature that is neither fish nor fowl, and therefore can neither swim or fly, such simply lie on the floor and flop helplessly. It will perhaps enrich a few lawyers, and add a few pennies more that the city can spend on the homeless.
Certainly Kia and Hyundai may have contributed to the rash of car thefts, but what about the perhaps lesser contribution to car thefts made my GM, Ford, whoever the hell owns Chrysler now, Daimler-
Benz and all the other makers of automobiles. If they simply stopped making and selling automobiles completely, there would be fewer (in a few years) to steal. If stopping their sales completely seems too radical, they could alternatively make cars without engines, or with engines missing critical parts to run. Either of these would prevent car theft, again with something of a long time frame till current automobiles that will crank and run are all stolen or wear out. It would also decrease carbon pollution, world heating, and strain on the electrical grid in the case of EV's.
Wouldn't shooting car thieves on sight on site result in a more rapid decrease in car theft?
And - and - if the car thief knew that when caught he was going to be shot right on the spot, it would make for some really interesting car chases that the environmentally sound all-electric helicopters of various news organizations could film, too.
Dontcha love those two birds with one stone solutions?
Soe fish can glide
If a car wasn't equipped with essential parts would it need a catalytic converter?
Certainly Kia and Hyundai may have contributed to the rash of car thefts, but what about the perhaps lesser contribution to car thefts made my GM, Ford, whoever the hell owns Chrysler now, Daimler-
Benz and all the other makers of automobiles.
There the car thieves were, minding their own business when... ALL OF A SUDDEN!
a few modest proposals....
Next, cities sue bicycle manufacturers over the number of bike thefts happening. It's obviously their fault because they put wheels on the bikes making them easier to steel.
And sue the clothing companies for making short skirts, which encourages rape.
Force them to make cars with no value so thieves don't want them.
Ahhhh the Subaru business model
Once government steps into the arena by mandating safety and other standards, seems like they have waived the right to sue manufacturers for following the mandatory government rules. If they don't like how easy it is to steal cars built to government standards, they need to change the standards.
Or else step out of the arena and leave it to the market.
And if the Baltimore government doesn't like the federal government vehicle standards, tough titty -- sue the federal government, not the vehicle manufacturers.
Or, crack down on the criminals.
HA HA !
You mean the government?
Governments are the master criminals. We can only be thankful they do not have markets to keep them competent.
(Yes, I know you mean the car thieves 🙂
Das RAYCISSS!
Someone call Rev, Al!
"They are suing Hyundai and Kia, claiming their cars are too easy to steal."
Since simple logic argues that SOME cars will be at least SOMEWHAT easier than steal than some other cars, the same logic indicates that the lawsuits will continue forever.
Excellent work, Mike. I admire your effort because I currently generate more than $36,000 each month from just one simple online business! I am aware that you may start earning a solid life en-10 online with as little as $29,000 and these are just basic internet operations tasks.

The city of Baltimore believes in personal responsibility…they just attribute the responsibility to different people. Some want to blame car theft on street criminals, but low-level criminals are generally broke. Blaming crime on deep-pocket corporations is a much better way to uphold personal responsibility. Though it has the side-effect of acknowledging corporate personhood…
Kia and Hyundai should respond by promoting ESG so hard the city would have to look elsewhere rather than be seen as persecuting the woke.
For starters, they could change the brand names to sound less female and more gender-neutral—Kiax and Hyundaix, with they/them pronouns, of course. To help the environment, the cars could run on unicorn farts. And to be more inclusive, they could give deep buyer discounts to visible minorities and any lesbians in wheelchairs. As for the car thieves themselves, the two automakers could offer them prizes based on how often the thieves pooped on public sidewalks in Baltimore.

Pembleton and Bayliss would have this case solved in an hour.
Will they also start ignoring 911 calls from women who don't wear chastity belts claiming they were assaulted?
Insurance companies in and around Chicago, the city of joy, are refusing to insure Kia/Hyundai. Dat makes dem rayciss insunce compnies be mo rayciss.
It comes as no surprise that this will be used as a solution to all the car thefts: Blame the victims. Blame the car manufacturer, blame the gun manufacturers, who's going to be blamed next for certain social problems?
This is the result of liberal/progressive ideology that has been brainwashing black communities for decades, that no matter what happens, how bad it gets, the uptick in serious crime, car thefts and looting, it always someone else's fault
If your house has windows it's easier to break into than a house with no windows. When a criminal breaks in, it's your fault for having windows.
